Because the wedge digs into the skull like, well, a wedge. Drivers are not solid, not since woods were actually made of wood. Now they are hollow titanium which would just bounce off.

Well, I would like the SW or a high numberd Iron.

Why? Because they are the toughest!

 

Now you might say that a driver or a wood is the club you hit hardest with and yes you do, but you hit the ball only. You might glance the ground but never truly hit something that will not move.

 

The SW is made more hitting the ball and the ground without breaking. And it is a high iron or a wedge you have as a weapon.

 

Sure, you could get a Driver but after the first two punches it would only be a silly metal stick.

It doesn't matter anyway, if they wanted realism the handle would snap the first time you hit anybody with it.

Why isn't the Baseball Bat a driver either? Or the Hammer, also why not the Crowbar? Come on Rockstar, can't you make melee weapons handle a car? You basically gave us NPCs that could be dominated by a Taser in usefulness! So why not give us vehicle-operating Broken Bottles?
