Help & Advice With a Few Things

Smith John

Recommended Posts

This is my first post in this section, so go easy on little ol' me guys.

I've had GTA V from day one, but it's taken me quite some time to get into GTA Online, as I'm not much of a multiplayer kinda gamer, but I must say I'm starting to thoroughly enjoy it- despite the CoD-type children who insist on killing me for no reason every five f*cking seconds. I'm currently on rank 19, have a nice apartment that I purchased with the 500K that R* gave us awhile back, have about $380,000 at the moment, and I'm trying to get to my first million before I start purchasing nice cars and modding them.

But there are a few things I'd like some help and advice with, and who better to ask than the good folks of GTAF.

-What is the best and quickest way to rank up/make money?

-What is the meaning of the 'JP' thing that appears alongside your rank, and how do I increase it?

-For some reason, the camouflage armour always shows over my clothes - is there a way to get rid of it, or is it simply a glitch that I'm unfortunately stuck with?

Cheers guys.

- Have a high level friend host the mission Rooftop Rumble for you and repeat it over and over again.

- JP literally have no function. Yet...

- You can take armor off in the interaction menu by holding the "back" button. You can even set it to never show on your character.

I hope this was helpful.

I use JP to measure which players in a session are likely to play invites as the more jp you have the more missions you have completed during that session.

golf, survival and sell a car every hour

if you can join a good crew for missions/races and use invite only lobbys to avoid getting killed

once unlocked use the survivals and gang attacks to get ammo

Alas! Someone from the other sections came to pay us a visit. Please enjoy your stay

@SugarFreeNos pretty much nailed it. Just have high ranked Players host RR for you and you'll be ranking up like crazy

That applies only for RR because its currently bugged and under maintenance

If you truly want to grind, create a custom race, 50 checkpoints all as close to each other as possible on a long straight road.

Do it solo in a super car, takes less than 30 secs and nets you 3000RP each time. And you can replay it over and over again without having to back out of the job screen.

It's boring as hell but is genuinely the fastest way to rank up.

If you want something more varied find a crew that grind missions. Rooftop rumble and coveted are the best ones for RP/time ratio.

Pretty much this.

JP stands for job points and are awarded for doing jobs/races/ deathmatches ect.. The better you perform in the job the more JP you will get. JP's are also used to determine who wins a playlist. If there is ever a deadlock when voting on which job to do after a races/ mission whatever the job the person with the highest JP voted for will be selected.

The best thing to do is forget the lobby.

Start > Online > Jobs > Join Job > profit

I'll go from even to event and I'll pull in a million in no time.

Spend money to make money: If you're a racer then find the Class you find you win the most and the car of choice and do it up so that you can keep winning. If you're a Death Match guy purchase the weapons that work. The better you do the more money you get. Survivals are also easy way to get weapons, ammo, and some experience so you can start pulling ahead of the curve.

Lastly don't play Versus Missions. You'll end up spending way more money than you make.

Then play, play, and play some more. If you even know what a lobby looks like, you're doing it wrong.

Excellent stuff guys :^:

Just a few things:

-You can take armor off in the interaction menu by holding the "back" button. You can even set it to never show on your character.

Can you be a little more specific of exactly what menu's I go through? I think I've tried everything, and can't find any option to get rid of the camouflage armour from constantly covering on top of my clothes. Even when I've been killed, the armour still shows, even though I have nothing in my blue bar. I'm beginning to suspect it's a glitch, which is shame as there are some nice clothes to purchase, but they're constantly obstructed by this pain-in-the-ass armour.

I'm on PS3 if that helps. Cheers.

Start > Online > Jobs > Join Job > profit

I just tried this and joined a Survival. We made it through the whole 10 waves, but I only got around 20k. Using this concept of joining event after event, how long (in hours) would you say it takes you to generate each million in income? Of course I assume there are other things to factor in, but on a general principle; what was the duration of your last 7-figure accumulation for example?

Also, during the Survival, everytime I was killed, it wouldn't allow me to spectate but just turned to a blurry, black & white screen that was stuck focused on my corpse until the surviving players completed the wave, which was pretty annoying. Is this normal, or simply a glitch?

Cheers again for all your responses guys, much appreciated.

It's not a glitch of any kind, don't worry.

Here's what to do:

Hit the button to the left of your PS Home button. Not sure if that's "back" or "select" or whatever. Just pull up the interaction menu.

Go to "Inventory"

Scroll down to "Body Armor"

Use the D-Pad to set that to "None"

Then set the option right below it, which should be "Auto-Equip Armor" to "off". This will make it so that armor is never cosmetically equipped to your character. When you get armor you will still get the protection though.

Hope you've got it now.

While it is very true that RR is the best Rep/$$ Mission for the time spent, my advice to people is always the same: play the game.

When I first started, I found that survivals were very helpful, specifically the Processed one, because it is the easiest to complete solo. For the time spent, however, it is not the most efficient, but I would generally start every session by going to that one, putting the cursor over it on the map and pushing x. That is a helpful tip for starting missions/races as well.

Thereafter, unless things have changed, you will have all of the ammunition and weapons you picked up during those sessions, unless you click find new session. After that I would hunt bounties, take the green car or export a simeon one from text msgs, hunt down crates, rob stores and try to lose the cops whenever possible. All of those activities give you rep while you are in free mode. Playing it as a death match, unless you are collecting bounties, does not.

Join any missions you see after that point. Unfortunately, lower ranks cannot rank up using racing as much as I did. Coveted is another good mission you can do solo using nothing but some sniper bullets.

Sorry to be pedantic but you have to HOLD the select/back button (next to PS Home button)

I followed your instructionns, and that's it gone! I wasn't even aware there was an additional menu by holding 'SELECT'! Cheers man :^:

@HopalongCasidy

I'll definitely give those things a try. Cheers. These forums attract a f*ck-load of trolls, but it's good to see there are still plenty of folks willing to help out.

I've just noticed there's a pinned 'Questions and Answers' thread, so I'll use that from now on for any queries. But before so, while I'm here just one final question:

-While I logged in to GTAO to follow Sugar Free Nos' advice on getting rid of the armour, I had a bounty put on me for absolutely no reason. How exactly does this work- will I have this on my head everytime I join GTAO until somebody whacks me? I'm sure I recall somebody once mentioning it's a similar system to RDR, but I rarely ever played RDR online. Like I said in my OP, I wasn't much of a multiplayer gamer before GTAO, so I'm still trying to get used to it.

Yeah, I figured it out, cheers though :^:

In a previous session you had a bounty placed on you by either another player or an NPC who's car you jacked. The bounty will stay for you until someone kills you or it expires, which takes around 48 min or 2 in-game days.

Am I right in saying the 48min bounty timer resets if you go in your house/garage? I believe so...

Ah, ok. Yeah it must have been an NPC then as the bounty followed immediately after I jacked a car.

Am I right in saying the 48min bounty timer resets if you go in your house/garage? I believe so...

It doesn't reset but it stops counting down.

So you have to survive 48 minutes in total in free roam until the bounty expires and you get the cash.

So if you free roamed with a bounty for 10 minutes, and then sat in your apartment for 20 minutes, you would still have 38 minutes left with a bounty.

Not doubting you, but do you know which patch fixed this? I seem to recall someone in an apt surviving a bounty recently.

I think either 1.10 or 1.09, it was stated in the patch notes but we all know rockstar are specialists in f*cking things up, so it could be possible still, I haven't actually tried it since the patch.

ten-a-penny

I know this is funny, but rob stores until you're lvl25. I leveled up from 5 to 15 just by robbing stores.

after you reach Rank 25, keep playing Proceeded Survival. find a really nice hiding spot and keep attacking while on cover. you'll get 20k and maybe 4,000RP from passing all 10 waves. if you're on PS3, then don't hassle to add me. PSN ID: ten-a-penny. I love playing Survivals. I'll show you the perfect spot in all the Survivals (except two though)

anyways. I would give you a link to a Custom-Created ace that'll give you 3,000RP each time if you're on the right Rank. though I can't find its name though....

I always switch to passive mode when stealing NPC cars. You won't get a bounty put on you that way. Use the back/select button to do so
