Ghost Racing [Solo or MP]... Good idea or no?

I'm leveraging a post I made a short while ago asking for good track referrals:

But I'm curious if anyone else spends time racing alone?

I do a lot of races alone to get familiar with tracks and improve my skills.

While the game keeps track of your personal best and all, I would love it if there was an element including with a "ghost" car, perhaps of your own car, to help pace your racing.

Dumb idea?

I've made the comment in the past, also, to help alleviate the "dirty" racer syndrome, perhaps having an on/off option to "ghost" cars, so no one can pit or bump during a race.

Another dumb idea?

I dunno. Just thinking. If you have race ideas, please check the link above. Would love to find some new tracks I may be missing.

But also, would it be cool to have the ability to race against your own car during a solo race?

I used to hate racing solo, too, but I have since found the advantage to knowing a track very well, as opposed to not-at-all, can be the difference between coming in 1st instead of 10th.

I'd love for ghosting to be an option in races with other players. Today my mate and I were playing Long Haul and after avoiding the usual early race carnage we gained an awesome lead. The rest of the racers were off our radar unless we expanded it. We were battling for first, half the time we were next to each other and the coming first notifications kept swapping. Eventually a guy in third starts gaining on us no problem. Anyways we pass onto the highway overpass and I let my friend in front as it's not wide enough for us both. Then the guy rams me from the side and I end up flipping off the overpass. Dropped from a close second to a distant sixth place.

 

It really should of been placed in the game from the start to encourage competitive races. It's frustrating when you race cleanly and are in the lead and some douche side swipes you and wins. Maybe a feature where if you ram another car which ever car is behind is spun out not the one in front.

Problem is racing alone is not a race. Its just a time trial. Then people start playing GTA races alone just to hit the speed boosts to beat times while racing the perfect lines.. Thats just boring for me personally.

 

But as long as there is no GHOST racing.. I could care less if ghost option exist for time trials.

 

Ghost racing.. Is just a huge NO for me.

It would be great for breaking world records but as for some reason rockstar are incapable of making a lap time list for all to .look at which would be fantastic I would be surprised if it happened.

Would be cool if Rockstar implemented a Drag race.Where if someone was loosing and they tried to make you do a tail spin they just simply ghost right into you.

 

Also for the whole racing alone thing, it would be a different in a good way. Say if you select to race a ghost car that is the average time for a specific race and if you get it you get a little more RP and cash if you were to loose. And you cant affect that other car because its an average time thing, but then you can just set a time limit I guess, but it would be cool and more fun to win a race last second.
