What's the problem with auto-shotguns?

It's a bad ass weapon that can't help but be overpowered. It's a fully auto shotty for f*ck sake.

I don't find them OP either, OP. If someone kills me with it in FM/TDM then that's fine(ain't even gonna be mad), the gun was put in the game for a reason and a player can use whatever gun he/she pleases

It is pretty over-powered but I use it too so I don't really care.

Theyre cheap just like in any game. Its not like it takes skill to use and every person Ive run into that uses it, just spams the fire button on it. I only use the pump shotgun, but that's in Missions..otherwise I stick to the fully auto rifles.

When I'm shopping for shoes and some low-level pleb decides it's fun to kill me, then there's no better feeling in this game than to go off-radar, walk up behind that player, and change his/her day with a few, unexpected auto-shotgun blisters.

I don't use shotguns in my regular routine, but for payback - oh, man... it just tickles my winkles.

Its hardly overpowered.....its a shotgun lol...military grade at that.......the unbelieveable range it has is the problem, I killed someone from a mile away with that gun yesterday, he wasnt happy about it and neither was I to be honest...such a cheap kill

 

The accuracy doesnt seem to suffer from recoil either you can make that gun bark all day with no problems

Nothing. It's a weapon that is useful in defense when someone tries to kill you. It doesn't matter whether it takes "skill" to use it. If it is helpful and easy to use, why not? I don't understand the people who hate on it just because it's easy to use and it apparently "takes no skill". Since when is a skill in a video game important?

You can basically cover fire and wipe out everyone on your screen in seconds. Im talking free aim.

The drum mag and the range makes it much better than the pump shotguns, which I consider a problem.

 

Not a big problem, though. I couldn't care less about gun balance in a game I hardly pvp in.

There was a thread about the auto shotty where the threadstarter was saying how he prefers killing people with pistols. That's probably why he went from autoshotty to talking about pistols. Its a huge thread, like 18 pages or some sh*t.

The problem is because of the way Rockstar tuned the gun, it shouldn't be that accurate. Any idiot can spam the Auto-Shotgun, it takes true skill to dominate with a Pump-Action, Sawed-Off, or the Bullpup Shotgun (Bullpup is a Special/Collectors Edition weapon). These people rely on it's automatic fire because they fail to have good aim.

I like the auto shotty just fine.

I don't use it often, as my go-to is the heavy sniper

but when I do, I like blind firing from cover with it

it's the only gun worth doing that with in PvP IMO

 

It's also a great gun for when there are two people in a car

one of them shooting at you from the passenger's seat

and the driver is trying to plow the car right into you

to take them both out before they even knew what happened

 

I like it for when someone takes cover behind a car

trying to make me flank them to give them some sort of advantage

I can just blow up the car

 

also, the gun is a must-have for armored truck hunting…

This is my biggest problem with it. The pump action can be used for hunting, especially if you have buck shot in it like my Mossberg 500. The range on auto-shotguns is supposed to be terrible and only made for CQB and supressive reasons. No one hunts with a Spas-12 LOL.

I think the main reasons why its overpowered in peoples opinions is because it has excellent range and very little recoil.

 

Not to mention the annoying noise it makes when automatic firing, even more annoying with the silencer attached... Overall though I don't get why people bitch about it, at range you can still out shoot the auto shotgun with your weapons that 'take skill to use' and up close, if you know your going to be facing auto shotguns just pull it out and kill everyone seeing how it 'takes no skill to use'. Its a win win situation every time for you isn't it?
