Can someone direct me to who I need to speak to regarding a ban being lifted off of me? I have been banned from gtaforums till Monday. I was banned by a mod named Vanzant. The reason he banned me was for something called double posting. I received a warning for this, and thought it was my phone acting crazy and double posting things as it does when I am on FB sometimes, because it is 3 years old. Then today when I was trying to post on the forums, I discovered I was banned, with a nasty note being attached by Vanzant that I was exhibiting "crap behavior" by doing an action (double posting), that I had no knowledge of what it was. I have attached a screen shot of Vanzant's banning with nasty note as well as the forum rules, which have NO LISTING for double posting being a offense extreme enough to be banned for. My user name on the boards is SouthWestPayDay on the forum. I have tried SEVERAL attempts at contacting Vanzant directly to try to resolve this issue so I can start posting and enjoying the forum again, however he won't respond back to me about it and my ban remains. I am fairly new to posting on this board and this whole experience is just leaving a bad taste in my mouth....I was originally spreading the word about how great and resourceful the forum is when I was playing with other people I play GTAO with....but I won't be doing that anymore.

 

 

P.S. How am I expected to know, and abide by rules that do not even exist on the ACTUAL RULES of the boards? Are the mods just free to WHATEVER they choose to it's members? Do they have free reign to just slam the ban hammer down on whom ever they want when the whim crosses their minds? That doesn't seem right or fair. If "double posting" is not listed on the rules....then I broke NO RULES.

 

P.P.S. I am not going to post anything else with this name, and I will sit out my ban on my original username till hopefully someone rectifies this. I just had to post it here PUBLICLY to try and get help with it, as PMs to Vanzant are getting me NO WHERE.

There's nothing to rectify here. Not double posting falls under the 'use common sense' part of our rules. We might let the occasional double post slide but users have been warned for habitual double posting in the past and in cases like yours (excessive double posting), temp bans have been issued as well.

 

Sit out your ban and when you get your posting rights back, ensure that you don't double post again. Simple as.

So I lack common sense if I know NOTHING about a rule that doesn't even exist? Good to know other mods are of like mind with the guy that told a NEW member he has "crap behavior" for doing something he had no idea he was doing. Moonshield and Cirian are probably the only 2 DECENT mods I have met thus far. Moonshield actually explained to me what it was, and I realized that I was doing it....I planned to not do it again, but then I noticed I was banned. Sorry if I am not the type of guy to just take it up the butt when someone trys to screw me....but me just quietly sitting out a ban that I do not deserve is NOT going to happen.

 

P.S. Before anyone tries to ban me even longer for breaking another rule by making this account to get an answer to my question, read your OWN RULES....

....seeing as how my other account is banned, and Vanzant is just ignoring me on private message, it is pretty LEGIT to create this one to try and get someone to see how wrong and pointless this ban is. I am not using this account for ANY OTHER REASON besides THIS thread and to try and get help from any mod or person of authority on this board with common sense of their own (not referring to you).

Double posting is pretty much as old as the concept internet forum, as is it being frowned upon. So yes, it falls under the common sense category. Besides, it is easily avoidable. Simply refresh the page prior to posting a new comment, if your comment is the last one to show up then edit it with whatever you want to add.

 

But Lets be real here, It's not like you've been "BUSTED!" or anything, you merely have your posting privileges suspended untll monday. It really isn't that big of a deal. Like others have said, just sit it out and don't do it again in the future.

 

I hate to remind you of this, but since you like quoting Forum Rules that much, here is another excerpt. "Remember; you are a guest on a free service. You may make no demands and have no rights. Moderators retain the right to remove you from the forums for any reason at any given time."

No one said you lacked common sense; you're just not using it. If you're feeling so worked up about a minor temp ban on an internet forum, maybe the internet is not for you. There are many forums on the internet that do not mention double posting in their rules but that doesn't mean I go around double posting everywhere just because I'm too high-headed to not use my common sense.

 

Thanks for justifying the 'crap behaviour' part. Your temp ban stands. There's no reason for any more discussion to be had over such a trivial ban.
