GTA IV remastered for PS4/X1

Anyone think this is a good idea? Having it as a downloadable game from PSN/XBL?

If GTA V is ported to PS4 and X1, which it probably will be, and GTA VI is released on PS4 and X1, it would be useful for the sake of continuity to have the entire GTA series on 8th gen consoles by porting and remastering GTA IV over too.

I doubt it'll get remastered, if you want better graphics or such you can get a PC.

But just a simple port? Yeah that's possible.

If they release IV on next-gen consoles, it will rather be a port than remastered game.

If GTA V is not ported to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, I would really doubt it.

Maybe for the tenth anniversary of tha game we get something like this.. but i really doubt it would happen.

As for V on the next gen? Of course. This is a gold mine, and RSTAR arent dumb to pass this. They want to make Online separated from SP now, and wont make it just for the last gen consoles.

History is not the side of this idea: Rockstar doesn't seem to like to do new-and-improved versions of old games except to bring them to entirely new platforms/market segments — meaning, a mobile device is a completely new way to experience an old game, but a new console that replaced an old console has not been a good enough motivation for Rockstar to "remaster" anything.

The closest thing they've done to that is Bully: Scholarship Edition, which updated a PS2 game to Xbox 360, but that was an exception because they had announced an original Xbox version that got cancelled because of delays and the way Microsoft pretty quickly killed the original Xbox platform after the 360 was out. Even after they had this "next gen" version of Bully done for the 360 they did not port it to the PS3. And even after they had extra detail created for the Xbox versions of GTA3 and Vice City (which were released after the PC versions) they did not update the PC versions.

Only visual effects. The textures on PC are raised, yes, but not all are increased. IV on PC is a HD/SD mess.

XBOX versions of GTA III and GTA Vice City.

That's considered to be the same console generation as the PS2. It's porting to expand the user base, not to replace previous versions. The additional detail is due to the Xbox being a bit newer and more powerful and Rockstar optimized the game for the hardware. (The Xbox ports of GTA3 and VC were done by Rockstar Vienna. However, with San Andreas, Rockstar North did all versions and chose not to have so much visual difference between the PS2, Xbox, and PC versions.)

The XBOX version of GTA SA did have better shadows, car reflections, better lighting and such. It didn't have missing textures on some vehicles such as the Bloodring Banger on the PC version.

A port should have been easy for them, but i highly doubt they'll make a remaster.

What about a port of max settings GTA IV PC?

Gnocchi Flip Flops

You know, it would be awesome (better draw distance, much more density in everything) but it'll never happen. Rockstar doesn't give a sh*t about IV anymore. They'll just leave it in the corner rotting like MC:LA.

May be ( part of GTA O, in future ) who knows?

Otherwise, Rockstar should spend the time on more important things.

Plausible, but considering the game is very unoptimized and CPU-intensive, I doubt that PS4/X1 can run it at max after all. As much as i liked PS4, the processor is like a tablet CPU (1.6 GHz?).
