Grand Theft Butthurt: The Persistent Ones

Recommended Posts

You know them, you've seen them, or perhaps you're guilty of it yourself. Or, maybe, this is the first you're hearing of it. In any case, these are the players of Grand Theft Auto: Online.

'The Persistent Ones'

The name should be self-explanatory. These are the players who don't let up, the players who can't take a hint.

Let's look at a scenario where a 'Persistent One' comes into play: You're minding your own business, doing you're own thing, either alone or with a friend or two. Suddenly, an unknown individual begins heading towards you're location. Said individual, without provocation, begins attacking you and/or your friends. The individual is then slaughtered with the utmost righteousness and you and/or your friends go back on your merry way.

Or so you try... The individual has other plans and proceeds to follow you, attacking you again. He is dispatched once more, but still continues in his fight. Despite this, you still attempt to continue with your business.

You travel to an apartment or a garage, he follows. You travel to the airport, he follows. You commandeer an aerial vehicle and travel to a new location... He follows.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a 'Persistent One.'

Have you seen these particular citizens in your adventures throughout the city? Perhaps you haven't? What do you think of a 'Persistent One?' Are his actions just? Or is he simply... Butthurt?

Yesterday I went on a train ride with a bunch of my crew members. We soon had one guy who couldn't quit attacking us with his Lazer, despite being shot out of the sky numerous times and usually respawning a lengthy drive away from Fort Zancudo.

I swear, he was on his sixth or seventh jet by the time I left.

I came across 3 of these guys at the airport who attacked me, I killed them all and climbed onto the hangar roof.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this, I sniped them over and over for about an hour as they tried to kill me, received many entertaining messages from them then left because I got bored in the end.

My favorite are the ones who keep trying to go after tanks and trying to get on top of them to pull the person out.

You'd think after getting killed 10 or 15 times they'd get the hint by they keep coming back thinking they are going to win...

Also why do people insist on quoteing a post as long as the OP?

Just answer the question we all know it's directed at him not need to quote it

I had an encounter similar to that myself.

He didn't use jets and I was on my own, but I ended up jumping on a train that happened by and was hoping to ride off into the sunset. Before that, I can't even keep track of all of the nonsense that happened. He was dozens of levels above me and it seemed like he didn't expect me to put up such I fight. I dominated him. <3

I thought this would deter him, but, of course, I was wrong. He began chasing the train in his own personal vehicle. After he caught up about 10 minutes later, I auto-shottied it and blew it up.

This is where it became really fun... I started sniping him as he would respawn near the train. It was magnificent. He was eventually out of range, stole a vehicle and continued to follow me, where I continued to kill him.

At one point the train was moving near a large hill... Next thing I see is him on a bike, flying over the hill... Only for his face to meet my Heavy Pistol.

This all went on for 50 minutes, across the entire map until I got bored and left the session. This happened weeks ago. Looking back, I don't regret it happening.

None are persistent when facing me. As The Dreaded, I have learned that one-shot headshot kills the moment a challenger gets into range has an immense demoralizing effect on the enemy. Typically resulting in them calling me a hacker and A) running for a tank or B) leaving the session.

I already told this story somewhere else, but I once had a guy chasing me while I was riding my Akuma for like 15 minutes with no success

This happens a lot. Especially when I kill them in my tank because they shot at me first

Let's change the story OP...

Guy comes up and blows you and your friend up, and then goes on his merry way. Do you seek out revenge?

Anyways, there is already a name for these types... It's called being a "tryhard". Basically trying as hard as you can and failing, over and over.

A few weeks ago I'm in a session with 2 of my crew mates, and one of them gets killed four times by this one dude. That of course got the attention of myself and my other friend, so we initate combat against him and proceed to air the poor f*cker out. I kill him about 5 times, the crew mate he killed got him 4 times and the other got him 8 times before low and behold...he runs and gets his Tank. We're all over level 120, so we respond by getting our own tanks. We light his ass up and he's dead again within seconds...and respawns in passive mode. What's he go do? Go get another tank, which we quickly again incinerated. We then camp the tank spawn point to hopefully give him the message to either quit or leave. He doesn't...he travels to Vespucci and gets him another tank. At this point I send the dude a message saying "give up, you're not gonna win". He responds by saying "f*ck you and your boyfriends." But...he's the one who started trouble with us. So we make it our mission to make this asshat rage quit, and spend the next 40 minutes repeatedly killing him. But he keeps coming back. After a while our tanks got destroyed, and we took to the rooftops and sniped the idiot to no end. 3 guys on the same roof versus 1 guy on the ground isn't very favorable...but this dude obviously didn't see it that way. Eventually he did quit, but not after the entire time sending us hate message about how we're ganging up on him, and how we suck dick, and other such insults a butthurt moron would say.

Lesson: When you kill someone in a session who has at least 2 or more crew members in that same session repeatedly...you're probably gonna end up getting your ass kicked.

Yes. I'm gonna at least kill him once to even the score. If he comes back, then it's on. If he doesn't, then I'm content leaving it at that.

Played with a guy named FuFRedNeck and he relentlessly killed my friends over and over until I sniped him off his rooftop. On the ground he was no match for us.

I had this one guy do that to me. He had a bounty on him and was getting a haircut down by the beach. I drove by and saw his PV parked outside so I stickied it and drove down the street and proceeded to get on a rooftop so I could see him thru my sniper scope. He leaves the barber, pauses noticing I'm down the street and then tries to jump in his car quickly and speed off. I let him turn the corner before BOOM! He then in-game texts me wtf, like he doesn't understand bounties, and I knew it was on from there. I shot him once trying to run up to the building then again after he re spawned and came again. Now the police are all over me so I sticky bomb the top of the ladder and shoot cops till he climbs up. Boom again! Then I'm battling cops and shooting the helicopter and he manages to get up the ladder. Quick switch to auto shotty and he's gone again. Shortly after that I get killed by cops and spawn on street. I decide I'm gonna go do something else and head toward the beach away from the guy. He follows and soon we're both on the walk where the shops are heading toward the tennis courts. I hide in a shop and he takes cover behind a soda machine. One grenade and I'm on my way again. Keep moving but he respawns close to me and I hide behind this concrete wall down by tennis courts. He comes running around the corner like an idiot. And took an assault rifle to the face. I proceed to steal a motorcycle from the parking lot behind the tennis courts and ride down the beach to the northern part by the Ferris wheel and cut over to the streets toward the city. Once in the city I realize this guy is still following me. I find the nearest alley which luckily has a ladder and make it up in time to see him roll up and assault rifle him. I sticky the top of the stairs again and hide behind an ac unit and wait till he comes up the ladder again then Boom! He respawns and I see he's coming again but I got a job invite and decided I had better things to do and left for his own good. I wish I had a headset on that day if I could've heard his frustration

Let's change the story OP...

Why?

This particular thread is about persistent players, not players on another end of another stick who may or may not be. I may consider another iteration of 'Grand Theft Butthurt' in the future where I bring up other types of players and interactions.

The type of player this thread is about is a Would-Be Griefer, but I keep seeing ads for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, so I played off of that and made a more interesting name.

The kind of guy you're talking about, the one who blows you up and goes on his way, is like an... Opportunist and not necessarily a Griefer or a Would-Be Griefer.

It's hard to determine what the individuals on the receiving end of the Oppurtunist's explosion would be. They could be a Persistent One, a Revenger, where they just go for a revenge kill, or... Maybe they just won't care.

Had one chump try to chase me and kill me while I was doing a gang war, after that, we are both hiding around two sets of cover when I'm like, "Let's make sh*t interesting", I throw a sticky blowing him up and a minute later I get bombed with messages like "cheating f*ck".

Oh lulz

A friend and I were goofing off at the airport when one of these came in. He started just watching us do jumps and whatnot then he shot me friend unprovoked. It was a player we had had good relations with prior and we invited them into the party but he wouldn't join and killed me twice while I was messing with invites.

After that my friend and I stuck together and kept killing him until he went away. A few minutes later were shaking the cops after stealing Lazers and the guy puts a 9k bounty on me and I see a dot approaching. A ghetto bird clipped my paper mache tail and set my jet on fire so I bailed and grabbed a dune loader to climb up the strip mall near Zancudo.

The approaching dot was of course the same guy, seemingly very interested in losing $1000 by claiming his own bounty and of course all the money I'm making him lose via wasted ammo and respawn costs. After about 40 mins of killing him and dealing with an increasing wanted level I had a choice to make: go to the bathroom or fight and piss myself.

I fought on for a few more minutes but I got distracted by my now very wet shoes and he finally got me, he lost 10k bounty money and probably another 5 in ammo and deaths. Overall I ended 33-3 with him his only legit kill being the last one.

Comandante-Olle

Had one the other day. Never seen a guy rage so much. And I didn't exactly play fair too him when he begun...

Managed to kill him with an ignition bomb, killed him by putting a sticky bomb on a Lazer parked at the airport and circled it with a Mallard. He took a tank trying to kill me but managed to destroy it before he got to me.

Ended with me going AFK for 15 minutes in my garage with him camping outside.

Funny thing is that it all begun with him calling me a pu$$y for going into passive mode while this guy was inside a wall...

How come all butthurt people are real abusive and presume with everyone that is better than them being fat lonely virgins that shoul die of cancer or in a fire?

Btw. The guy is ob PS3, phil-mccracken- or aomething like that. He has a one man crew, The Kraken Crew.

Put a bullit in him from me if you see him online!

Why?

I can assure you, this particular contributor wants to change topic every time he don't like it or don't understand. Thing is, he is TEACHING the internet. It's his own words from his topic about fascism.

Persistent ones... Just go off-radar and lose them. If they insist, park somewhere with only one road in and rig the entrance. Even if they will rig your way out, your bomb will detonate theirs and you'll make clean getaway.

Not that I'm any better though, I've literally ran across mountains just kill some player just once.
