Garfield 2
So... since we have the Spanish selection in the 1980s, I thought it would be a good idea to show the ones used in 1990s by Polish criminals/gangsters. Early 1990s were a time where gang crime was at its highest levels, although it didn't involve police chases. The biggest groups at that time were the Szczecin "mafia" and the Pruszkow "mafia" under the rulings of Barabasz (Barabash). 1990-1994 Popular selection by petty thieves and criminals: Most common was the BMW E21: These cars were most popular in the 318/320 format. Usually used by skinheads. Most of them were stolen from Germany in that day with the VIN numbers replaced. They had "legal papers". Back in 1995, most of them moved up to the E30 325i: The division in those days were thugs and skinheads and then the bosses / management (as they would call themselves). "Managers" in 1994 had these: The W126 generation S-Class, most of them in 560SEL form which were also bulletproof. In 1994 and 1995, the Pruszkow group has started to make bigger deals, they moved up from being loan sharks and getting extortions from pubs and casinos (the thugs were now responsible for that) and started dealing with Colombians and Russians - they started smuggling drugs and luxury cars for Russians. One of the biggest drug busts in Europe was in Poland (very little info on it), when the anti-narcotic division in co-operation with Interpol has stopped a shipment of cocaine worth over $70,000,000. The Pruszkow group was also responsible for the theft of 2 tonnes of Russian Ruble note paper theft. With tensions rising with the Wolomin group, they've moved up to bulletproof W140s: While others had bulletproof E32s: With the gangster scene in Poland dying off in the late 90s, Jaroslaw Sokolowski (Masa) was the first person in Poland to own a brand new W220 Mercedes-Benz S500 - he enjoyed it for about 3 months until he turned states. He had one in this exact colour. Currently gangsters in Poland are almost non-existent, there's still some in the Pruszkow/Warsaw area, with most of them driving inconspicous cars like Volkswagen Golfs, Ford Focus and the likes. Fun fact: The old leader (Parasol) is currently driving a B5 Generation VW Passat - saw him recently while visiting Pruszkow (that's where I come from). SouthLand
So in Poland, after USSR collapsed, crime was more of a "Mafia Style" where bosses drove around with their expensive German car right? And the only thugs you had drove in Stolen BMW's from Germany? Funny how in Poland it was more like a Mafia style and in Spain it has mostly like a bunch of thugs who were junkies and wanted money for drugs. Garfield 2
Yeah, expensive german cars were very popular in that day. Everyone successful either legally or through illegal means always had a German car. My neighbour drove to trade in Yugoslavia, he had a W124 Merc. That was back in 1997. Mega
Boring. Usually Merces were something sought for, especially in the early nineties. Many high profile not-really-clean-money people were into buying (or... e... illegally taking ownership of) W140s already in 92-93. SL‘s too. My friends SL500 (still in same hands in 2014, bought brand new in 92 at the dealership in Warsaw - it was quite a sight back then) was stolen TWICE back in the 90s.
