Think about all the interiors we could have had if

R* didn't waste all that space on the sea floor that NO ONE ever uses. I'm willing to bet there are thousands of players who didn't play story mode who didn't even know you can go underwater. We could have had so many interiors.. animals online.. hell the map itself could have even been so much larger if they didn't bother with underwater. Waste of space

This is what players wanted, actually. A explorable sea underwater.

Players wanted both. Not having one but sacrificing the other. In my opinion, I'd rather have more interiors and the ocean floor undivable like IV.

Maxed by lung capacity... not sure why

If you ever play a mission called Wet Work, you can use it to get the ship without having to fight through a load of enemies. It's also helpful when trying to escape from the police.

OT: Imagine the amount of features we'd have if they got rid of everything on the map except one street. Yeah, it'd be one street, but WHAT a street! Each building with a fully modeled interior! Customisable bathroom mats! Up to 3 different kinds of cooker to choose from! Wallpaper, paint or woodchip? YOU decide, not those fatcats in their suits and ties.

Yep, I care about underwater in V just as much as I did in SA... No, I don't care for it at all. More of a vice city over san andreas kind of guy, IV map over V map kind of guy.

I agree, the seabed is useless, because you can only take a submarine alone, or you have to dive underwater.

R* should of did this - Removed the seabed in Online and added more building interiors.

You honestly think that most of the sea floor isn't just copy n pastes of other sections?

Animals not missing in online because "they didn't have time to write them in" - they're not there for the same reason there is less traffic - to reduce network requirements.

The map itself isn't larger because the current size is good for 16 players and it'd only be worth while if you extended the city sections - which are the parts that actually take the most amount of time to create (common sense).

I have a feeling that IF GTA a comes to pc or new gen consoles, we will see more interiors, mini games and other stuff that didn't make the cut in the version we have now.

They did it with the original GTA. Ps1 you couldn't ride or steal the trains, pc you could.

Hot coffee on pc. Not on consoles

Your console doesn't render everything. So if you're not underwater, it doesn't render the sea bed.

They can add more interiors without removing the damn thing, and they plan to, they said most of the buildings were designed so that interiors could be added in the future.

Not really, because once again the game only runs/loads what's around you. But what you should see is better graphics including a longer draw distance, and more players per map.

If this came out for XboxOne I might actually buy an XboxOne just for those bits.

Keep in mind that any additions to the game couldn't be sent out over "PSN" back in the PSX days. It was more likely that they simply couldn't get the update to PSX owners cost effectively.

I don't think they put as much effort or game horsepower into the sea floor as you think, it doesn't need rendering from afar and im sure 90% of it was created with a mapping creator then tweaked and little stuff like shipwrecks were added but all in all for the amount of space it is theres not that much.

Animals were removed in the first week of GTA Online because of a petition.

One thing needed in online (scubadiving gear) would solve the useless detailed ocean problem

It being available doesn't cause any problems.

You can explore offline, so I don't think scuba gear is really needed online, unless underwater deathmatch?? hmm

I played since GTAO was released, never spotted any animals online? Do you have a link? Genuinely curious if this is true.

Which is funny now because most players don't even be anywhere near the beach.

Scuba gear on its own would be a huge (positive) change for GTA:O. My guess is that it might arrive with some sea themed updates. I think a ship off LS coast is a potentially easy way for R* to add "new areas to explore". More unlikely, but potentially amazing would be some sort of oil rig with an underwater structure (moon pool) with which subs snd scuba could be utilised. Ships or oil rigs would provide single player mission material too.

Obviously this is completely hypothetical, but outside of these sort of additions off land, I can't really imagine what 'promise' of "new areas to explore" could mean

Both very interesting points, especially about PSX lack of updates. Where did R* mention future interiors?

As a lover of the ocean and swimming, I love the underwater regions. Best place to fool around & explore. In SA there was nothing to do with the ability to swim apart from not dying. VCS & IV didn't even have submerging enabled.

Interiors would be nice, but there are already a lot of them & people don't even use them. Hell, there's an entire underground subway track/stations & they are never used at all. People whip by too fast in their supers to appreciate these things.

What they should do is give us scuba equipment or a faster/deeper submarine.

I like the idea of an oil rig or large ship permanently anchored off shore somewhere.

Los Santos is relatively mediocre in size once you account for rarely used/mainly atmospheric areas.

The docks, the airport, the industrial areas to the east...nobody really plays there.

Instead of an all of nothing approach to having a sea floor, I would have preferred cutting the sea floor to 40% and adding another 15% of living areas to Los Santos.

Basically a sex mini game similar to the dancing where you had to hit certain buttons at the right time to 'preform' well.

Neither of them show animals online because they never were.

Don't you think if the animal activists had got there way, rockstar would have removed animals from single player too?

I swear, animal activists are f*cking morons who are the type of people who break into farms to f*ck sheep, chickens and horses and call it love.

That article confuses GTAO and GTAV a fair bit!

e.g. "At a certain point in gameplay, GTA V Online players will gain control over the character of “Trevor”;" and it talks about the single player hunting missions etc

I don't remember seeing them in GTAO at all the first week.

But that reasoning to not include them does makes sense though, same reason we have 'blue nipples' online and to see those requires a glitch. It's like they knew the kids wouldn't get far in SP, and spend all their time online, and parents are OK with murder but not boobs or running over deer.

Child murders 3 friends in game "glad you're having fun"

Child blows up vehicles with explosives "good work son"

Child sees a nipple "OMG YOU ARE GOING TO HELL, I WILL SUE THEM FOR PERVERTING CHILD" <-- of course it's not their fault they bought an R18 game for their child

Oh yeah, I heard about that. Wasn't that in PS2 but removed due to R* getting worried it would cause offence? I agree though that PC generally allows for better graphics. Problem is that graphics settings can be changed, but interiors couldn't, so even on PC R* might not include them in order to reach wider market that includes lower end PCs.

Yup, they could've made the map 30% smaller. Leave out Paleto Bay and ocean floor, replace that with a bigger/emptier desert. Sandy Shores could have been way more developed. Less map would've equaled more activities to do in free roam.

Then have interiors in the city along with the casino. Texas Hold'em Poker > golf and tennis.
