(FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) .1. INTRO AND REQUIREMENTS Are you in a hurry? Are you tired about waisting 10 minutes of your life to save your progresses? Does your vehicle disappear when you're far from it? Would you like to save your vehicle outside the parking strips, finding it at the same position when reloading your game? Would you like to add some realism to this game? Fine: since at the moment there are no mods that permitt you to save your game and to reload it at the same position, this walkthrough is the solution to your problems! You will only need three things, so be sure to own them and be sure they are correctly installed: 1) A copy of GTA IV (PC version) 2) Asi Loader 3) Simple Native Trainer Have you got everything? Fine, now we can start seriously! Don't worry, the procedure I'm going to tell you might seem long and difficult to understand, but I assure you you're completely wrong: When you will become friendly with the following steps, it will only waist some seconds....promise! But now let's start, step by step: .2. SAVING METHOD FOR YOUR CHARACTER 1) While on foot, choose a place where you'dd like to save your game and to find yourself at the same point when reloading. The place can be an interior or an exterior, it doesn't matter. 2) Now don't move and open the Trainer main menu. 3) Select "Teleporting Save", then choose a slot that will save your coordinates. 4) Now you have to go back to the Trainer main menu: close and re-open the Trainer. 5) Select "Options", then go to the second page of the sub-menu. Finally, select "Save Game" (that's the first voice of the page, you don't have to search for it!). This way, you will be able to save you progresses like if you activated your safehouse's bed: it will appear the classic saving menu, so save your progresses in the slot you'dd like to use. *** The saving procedure is done. Now let's suppose we'dd like to reload our game! *** 1) Reload your game normally, navigating through GTA IV's main menu. You will find yourself inside one of your safehouses (that's the nearest apartment to the point you saved your game some minutes ago). Don't worry, you did nothing wrong! 2) Open the Trainer main menu, then select "Teleporting". Finally, select the same slot you chose some minutes ago at step 3) (for instance, if some minutes ago you selected the first teleporting slot, now you will have to choose the first one). NOTE: There are two differences between my saving procedure and the default one: 1) By default, when activating your bed, your life is restored to the maximum available value. When saving with my procedure, your life doesn't get restored, but mantains the same value (In both cases, armor will not be restored). 2) By default, when activating your bed, clock will progress about 6 hours. When saving with my procedure, time doesn't change. .3. SAVING METHOD #1 FOR YOUR VEHICLE Note: in this tutorial I explain two save vehicle methods. This one requires some more steps. It is the longest one, but it's the only one that permits you to respawn a vehicle in the same position after the game beeing reloaded. 1) During the gameplay, choose a place where to park your vehicle. The place can be everywhere (of course, not over the safehouse's parking strips ). When you're done, please park your vehicle and remain inside it. 2) Now open the Trainer main menu. 3) Select "Car Options", go to the second page of the sub-menu and select "Car Load Save Menu" (it's the last voice, you can't miss it!). Now, in order to save your vehicle, choose a slot. *** The saving procedure is done. Now leave your vehicle and do anything you want: run away for over two kilometers, save your game and reload it...it's your choice! When you will go back to your vehicle, it shouldn't be disappeared (if you save your game and reload it, it will certainly disappear, otherwise, theorically it won't). Here's what you need to do when your vehicle disappears... *** 1) Re-open the Trainer main menu and navigate through the varius sub-menus untill you will be able to select again "Car Load Save Menu". For the second time, you will find yourself in the vehicles storing menu. 2) I know what you're thinking. Unfortunatelly, you're wrong: DON'T select "Load Slot x" (where "x" stays for a slot number). Instead, select the last sub-menu voice, wich is named "Load All Slots At Original Location". After doing this you will notice that, with an extreme accuracy, your vehicle will be placed at the same location where you left it some minutes ago. I'dd like to say that the spawned vehicle will be the same you used before...here's some proofs: doors won't be locked, vehicle will not result as stolen, the dirt level will be the same as before, the colour/s will be the same one and the extra parts too!!! NOTE: 1) Let's suppose your vehicle was damaged. When you'll come back to your vehicle, it will be always be damaged. 2) When reloading your game and your vehicle, the vehicle itself will be automatically repaired. The same thing happens with the default car saving system (yellow parking stripes). 3) When selecting "Load All Slots At Original Location", even if your vehicle spawned immediately, it might happen that the Trainer is continuing to load vehicles. If you are planning to close the Trainer, you must wait for it to finish its loading process. .4. SAVING METHOD #2 FOR YOUR VEHICLE Note: in this tutorial I explain two save vehicle methods. This one is the simpliest one and it requires lesser steps than the other one. Besides beeing the simpliest, it will NOT permit you to respawn your vehicle after reloading your game. 1) During gameplay, enter your vehicle. 2) Open the Trainer main menu 3) Select "Car Options", then select "Car Save" (it's the second sub-menu voice). Now your vehicle will become like one of those mission ones: it will never disappear, plus its position will be monitored by the game map! 4) If you are planning to save your vehicle in your safehouse's parking spot/with method #1, it's strictly necessary to follow another step. If you ignore it, next time you will load your game your vehicle will be disappeared forever!!! When you're inside your vehicle, open the Trainer main menu and select again "Car Options". Finally, select "Delete Saved Car" (it's the last voice of the sub-menu's first page). In order to be sure that your vehicle is no more a mission one, exit your vehicle and have a look over its roof: if you won't notice any blue floating marker, it means that everything is ok (pay attention, because the marker is pretty much small). NOTE: I reccomend you to not to use "Save Car" on more vehicles at the same time. I did it with two cars, and I wasn't able to delete one floating marker (when I reloaded my game, one car disappeared). .5. SCHEMATIC COMPARISION ABOUT MY SAVING VEHICLE METHODS Method #1 PROS: The vehicle's position is saved with extreme accuracy, vehicle can be respawned at the same point after reloading/rebooting your game, after reloading your game your vehicle (if damaged) will be repaired. CONS: It's the longest method, you must apply the saving procedure every time you drive your vehicle and you want to leave it, the vehicle's position isn't monitored by map. Method #2 PROS: The vehicle's position is saved with extreme accuracy, the vehicle's position is monitored by map, it's the fastest method. CONS: (if you only use this method, and if you want to reload your game) It isn't possible to permanently save your vehicle outside the safehouses parking spots, (if you only use this method) it's impossible to save more vehicles at the same time. .6. SAVING METHODS: GUIDE TO PRACTICAL USE AND HOW TO BEST COMBINE THEM First of all, I want to clarify something important. Unfortunatelly, my saving character/car methods are completely independent from the saving menu system: GTA IV is one thing, Native Trainer is another one, they work separately. If you save your progresses by using more than one GTA IV slot, you will be forced to use this trick: Let's try to understand how the trick works, here are some practical examples. Let's suppose you always save your progresses on GTA IV slot 1,2,3. Let's also suppose that, thanks to Native Trainer, you always save anywhere the car's and player's position. - Now you are going to save your game on GTA IV slot 1. Here's what you have to do: a) Save your game on GTA IV slot 1 b) Save your car on Trainer car slot 1 c) Save your character on Trainer teleport slot 1 - Let's make it different: now you are going to save your game on GTA IV slot 2. a) Save your game on GTA IV slot 2 b) Save your car on Trainer car slot 2 c) Save your character on Trainer teleport slot 2 - Finally, let's save game on GTA IV slot 3. a) .......GTA IV slot 3 b) .......Trainer car slot 3 c) ....... Trainer teleport slot 3 - Tired about saving your game on those slots? Fine, let's save the game on slot 7: it will be the same procedure as the others a) ......GTA IV slot 7 b) ......Trainer car slot 7 c) ...... Trainer teleport slot 7 NOTE: the a-b-c order can also be different (it doesn't really matter), but be always sure you did everyone of those three steps! I'm sure that, with all those examples, you understood how the trick works... Always remember, each GTA IV "savegame slot number" must correspond to the same "save car slot number" and to the same "teleport save slot number", otherwise you will do a lot of confusion. Now I'dd like to tell you some important practical tips about my saving methods. If you don't want to listen to me, remember that when dealing with Trainer's car and teleport load slots, sometimes things might become pretty much confusional. - Save character anywhere: In my opinion, you should always use this saving method, but there are two key differences: A) If you're inside a safehouse, and ONLY IF should you decide to save your progresses by activating your bed, you must skip step 4 and 5 (Don't remember them? Go to chapter .2. of this tutorial and have a look on them). Otherwise, follow all steps. B) In any other case, always follow all steps! Last tip: If you are going to save coordinates without saving progresses, it is better to use larger slots than slot 15 (for example, I always use the first slot of the second page) - Save vehicle method #1: Apply this method only if you're planning to save your progresses and player's position. I suggest you to not to use it in other circumnstances. - Save vehicle method #2: Use this method only if you aren't going to save your game. Ideal method for parking your vehicle during/before a mission that doesn't allow you to drive it. Best method if you are planning to temporally run far away from your vehicle. .7. F.A.Q. (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) Q: What the hell of solution is that? Every time I want to save my game/load my game, I must follow various steps... Besides, I already knew your methods. A: This is only a workaround: since there are no mods that allow you to save and load your game anywhere, I found this temporary solution. I know that, my methods could be already known by "Native Trainer veterans". But I'm sure a lot of people didn't have a deep look at the Native options, ignoring the existance of those interesting saving methods (I'm one of those persons: I installed the Trainer years ago, but, before some days ago, I never had a deep look at it). Q: Do you have something else to say? A: Yes, I do. When you save Niko's position and vehicle's position, their coordinates and other attributes are stored inside "Trainer.ini" file. When doing a backup copy of the default savegames, please also remember to do a backup copy of Trainer.ini. This way, Niko's position and the vehicle's one will remain stored along with original savegames. Q: Do your saving methods work with EFLC (Episodes From Libery Cities)? A: To be honest, I never bought the two expansions. However, I'm absolutely sure that the saving procedure is the same one, and, consequentially, everyone of my three methods will work great! Q: Are your saving methods safe? A: Sure! After a lot of testing, I can grant you that. Q: Is it possible to alternate your saving methods with the default ones? A: Sure! You can use both of them. Using a method doesn't preclude the use of the other one. Q: Is it possible to save when beeing in mission? A: Yes, but only your vehicle. When you're in the middle of a mission, you can't save your game, neither with my methods. Well...at least your car won't disappear and you will be able to collect it at the end of a mission! Tip: even if you can't save your game, you may save Niko's coordinates: this way, when the mission ends, you will be able to teleport near your vehicle and you won't need to hail a taxi-driver that will drive you to it. Q: Is it possible to alternate your vehicle saving methods? A: Sure! I think it's a great idea, because every method grants you some special features the other one doesn't feature at all! Q: Does your saving vehicle method #1 work with every vehicle? A: Honestly, I did a lot of tests, but only with cars. Theorically, my method will work with every vehicle that is able to stand in a specific position without moving. So, I think the method won't work with boats (water waves make boats non-stop moving). About boats, I might be wrong: test it, and, if you want, post a comment and let me know the test results. Q: Le't suppose I'm using vehicles method #1. Is it possible to save more vehicles around the city? A: I didn't test it, but I'm sure it is possible: you only have to use more saving slots. Of course, there's a limit: there are twenty slots, so, if you'dd like to save twenty-one or more vehicles...well, my method won't allow you to do that. Q: I saved my vehicle with method #1 but I don't remember where it has been parked. How may I find it? A: There are three solutions, but I will tell you the simpliest one. Let's suppose you saved your vehicle on slot 1. This time, forget about "Load All Slots At Original Location". Just select "Load Slot 1". This way, the vehicle will appear near Niko/Niko will be spawned inside the vehicle (it depends on your Trainer settings). Tip: Always try to save your vehicle in a strategical place, for example near the place where you saved Niko's coordinates! Q: Does your saving vehicle method #2 work with every vehicle? A: I only tested it with cars. But I'm absolutely sure the answer to your question is "yes"! IF YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING (sorry, I'm not a native english), IF YOU'DD LIKE TO ADD MORE DETAILS OR IF YOU'DD LIKE TO TELL ME SOMETHING REGARDING THE ARGUMENT, PLEASE, POST YOUR MESSAGE! DavideMitra
I am trying SAVING METHOD #2 FOR YOUR VEHICLE. My only problem is do you now what's there shortcut keys? Sorry for very late reply, but, the days after I created this topic, I wasn't noticing any question. It has been a long time and I don't remember a lot of things...maybe you already found the answer you were looking for...however, the trainer comes out with a specific .ini file that lets you have a look to the default shortcut keys. You can also set new ones!
