Deathmatch: Silenced vs Normal Weapons

It's a question I've been kicking around. As I see it, it's range/damage or silence.

Just asking the more experienced people out there.

Depends.

If people are whoring Lester & you're on an Assisted/Traditional Aim Match...I find silencers useless.

On Free-aim matches; Silencers are a huge advantage. Well worth the 5-10% tiff.

Most used weapon for me in DM would probably be a silenced Advanced SMG. There are a lot of crap players in DM who don't know how to deal with others if they can't see them on the minimap. I use unsilenced Special Carbine most of the time in other game modes. A lot of the time in DM though you do get at least 1 lowlife that spams Lester the entire match in which case silenced is useless. I'll get out my Auto shotty and blast them in the face while they're having phone sex with Lester.

If its a big 16 person battle, it doesn't matter as much as targets are everywhere. But if it's 2v2 or 3v3, it helps to be covert.

NEVER EVER PUT A SILENCER ON AUTO SHOTGUN. Let them hear that monster.

Reported.

He fired way more than 32 shots!

Need to watch that film though.

I don't have a silencer on my Assault Shotgun since I only use it close range and since damage is key for a shotgun so I prefer it that way.

I also don't have a silencer on my AP Pistol while shooting people from the car since again, damage.

Does the silencer really affect deathmatches significantly because I tested it in the early stages of GTA:O and despite killing people with it in matches, you still get revealed on the radar?

Depends.

According to the game files (search for funmw2 threads, gun game files) a suppressor has a damage multiplier of 1

That is to say, it doesn't do anything, except the HUD bars.

Unless it isn't a multiply by 1..

Can't remember what the outcome was, I think it was still up in the air as to what is actually happening in the background in regards to attachments.

I think it's fair to say the only attachment we fully understand is the flashlight. Even then, maybe it does something else too haha.

Blip update made silencers useless in deathmatches. Your blip gets hidden now when you're out of site, even without silencers.

Just curious... played a handful of death matches but not an expert. I only have my combat pistol silenced for robbing stores. I love hearing the guns natural sound. Firing an AP pistol out your car Window and into some unlucky player sounds awesome. Anyways back to the point, is this statement true? Does your blip get hidden if you are "out of sight"? If so, I could start playing this mode again without being worried how loud my special carbine rifle is.
