Identifying Hostile Players

Jange21

There should be a way to identify hostile players like changing the color/shade of their ID names. So when u pull up to someone u can tell if they're known for shooting others. Kind of going along with the whole good/bad sport theme going. What other ways could this be done?

How to tell if a player is known for shooting others: they are represented by a white dot on the mini-map. This is GTA Online we're talking about. Practically everybody is known for shooting others.

there could be a karma rating like the one for trouble in terrorist town but that definitely would not work for this game

this hostile in this entity was ruining Vesucci Beach for everyone would have been easier if he had an H on his blip.

How about this... If the k\d ratio is even, have a players blip white. The more in there favour, the more red is added so it would start off slightly pink all the way to full red.

If they have a poor k\d ratio it should get a green hue, from a faint green all the way to in your face green.

The only other thing which would need changing is the bounty icon. Solid red with a thick black X inside would suffice.

It'd be nice to be able to identify hostiles and tanks on the map. I RPG'd the last 2 people who hung around (coz I'm paranoid like that) only to receive a FR 3 seconds after I killed them LOL.

There already is an identification system. You can easily identify them by:

LVL 3 - Attention seekers drive around in bright cars with bright mismatched rims. lime green is especially popular choice. They should be avoided because they are obnoxious and if they see a female they will follow them around trying to look cool and show off and probably send them messages like "r u a girl?"

LVL 2 - People that drive around in chrome cars, other than Adders. They are like lvl 3 attention seekers, but unpredictable. You never know if they are just looking for attention or are in the mood for griefing. They usually dress their characters in the most obnoxious mismatched outfit they can find in the clothing store.

LVL 1 - People who drive Chradders. Their main goal is killing other players. They are always like 12 years old and suck at the game and can barely even figure out how to drive their car. Sometimes they travel in pairs to make up for their lack of skills at the game. They will chase you all over the map trying to grief you even after you've killed them like 10 straight times. If they still fail you kill you, they'll go to their favorite wall breach and try and lure you over there with stupid in game messages. Their characters are usually shirtless and wearing a bowtie or some stupid crap like that.

LVL 0 - Tank drivers who do nothing but grief and spawn kill other players. They will use every exploit and cheap tactic they know from watching Youtube. They do this to compensate for their tiny penises in real life. Their characters are usually dressed in plain clothes like jeans and a tshirt because this isn't their main character, it's just one they made specifically to be an asshole to other players. They should be avoided at all costs, because as the game is currently set up, blowing up tanks is more trouble than it's worth, and if you do kill them, they'll do 1 of 3 things: go passive, immediately get in another tank, or leave the session like a pansy.

Just need a tank icon so I don't turn a blind corner and get blown up. Everyone else I can handle by just taking precaution until I hear a honk or see friendly behaviour.

If there were icons for everything else, everyone would avoid each other and you wouldn't get any free roam killing at all ...I'm sorry to tell you, but that's how Rockstar intended it to be. Otherwise they wouldn't have allowed PvP killing in free roam..

I'm confused. How can we tell if the player is hostile without mind-reading technology? Being hostile isn't up to the character, it's up to the player that controls him/her. He can choose to be friendly or hostile and a computer can't predict this.

Here is an easy way.. If it is a white dot and it starts following you while you are minding your own business.. Then it is hostile..

if you have one, turn on your tv and spectate before leaving your apt/garage. only takes a few mins to scan through to see who is up to what, get their names, area their in and try to meet/avoid them. see someone cool you might want to meet, messaging them first is recommended. fought/screwed around with some pretty cool people this way.

Also if you are approaching an area such as LSC and the white dot there was moving around before like it was going to leave but then suddenly stops as you approach.. then it is hostile.

i dont think we need to identify hostile players, after all this is gta, a open lobby where you can expect anyone to shoot on sight.

one thing they need to make identifiable is if a person is on a tank. its easy to identify if a player is on foot, in a car or in a plane by the way the blip moves on the map but there are times that identifying a person in a tank is not possible 'til you hear the shell hitting your car.

"can tell if they're known for shooting others" and say that said person is on the defensive, and fends off these 'hostiles' half the time, they'd be wrongly marked..

I can't wait until this worthless piece of sh*t Scubadave is banned.

Anyway, anyone with the word "swag" "dank" "weed" "420" "Killer", or a combination of "XxXxXx" in their GT are usually brain dead morons that shoot everything on sight. They think this is CoD.

Not much use against an RPG..

I can vouch from experience...

If someone is in a tank they should be a tank "symbol" on your map, so you know not to go dicking around in that area.

Agreed. It's kinda the appeal of GTA for me. Every interaction has the potential to be a half-hour war...

That's the way I usually gauge it. Though I've killed plenty of people that only wanted to hang out or see my car. Mostly newbs, though, that haven't realized that that's considered hostile behavior in this game...

I treat those as hostile, too. Though, if I'm leaving LSC and I see a blip fast approaching, I'll post up behind the Buffalo and wait for them to open fire or ready a sticky...

easiest method.. if you recognise a gamertag from GTAF, there's an 80% chance of hostility...

For those who say this is GTA which is meant to be chaotic. There's PLENTY of idiotic griefers, trolls, etc to go after and the occasional battle. BUT more often than not I hear people complain about the instant hostility (I've become paranoid myself) AND one thing that R* did/want to do with the game is have it be EXTREMELY social. Example: Social Club & Crews

So that's why if people want to have people around them who won't (generally) attack, they join crews, or play missions.

GraniteDevil

Expect every single player in a GTA Online public session to be hostile and act accordingling.

That is to say: either get in the fight or get the hell away.
