Any problems or ideas you have about free aim in GTA V I will gladly answer. As an experienced free aimer and a leader of a free aiming FM and DM/TDM crew, I know my way around a carbine rifle or two. Simple or advanced tips or facts can be discussed or questioned. Thanks -Paddy

I've heard that mastering high aiming sensitivity is the most useful, though low sensitivity is easier at first. But is it better to just jump into it and start out on high sensitivity?

Or rather nutch the sensitivity up once in a while, so you can slowly adjust?

Or just use low sensitivity all along?

Well, personally I jumped straight into full sensitivity, but it depends how you like it and how you play, generally. If you prefer an easy introduction to free aim, or atleast a less annoying way of being new to free aim, a lower sensitivity will be more beneficial, however, someone wanting to improve quickly should go right up to high senstivity, it's hard at first, but gets more bearable. -Paddy

Thanks. Thing is I've been playing free aim for a long time, but always on pretty low sensitivity. I'm gonna try to put it all the way up. It will probably be frustrating af first, but I'm hoping it will benefit me in the long run :D

Full sensitivity, straight away.

Don't let your muscles learn a lower sensitivity as it'll be harder to move up later on.

Muscle memory is absolutely the biggest "secret" to being good in FA.

Everything else will come with time and practice.

I think sensitivity can be dependent on screen size. A small flick on a 32" tv can be a huge swipe on a 106" theater screen.

You support that Highest sensitivity is best but I think that in a long range gun fight someone with a lower sensitivity will be more accurate.

Why not try to find a personal medium between High and Low sensitivity so you can be more versatile?

Also, how do you counter good buzzard pilots that will kill you with their 1st rocket before you can even aim at them?

this is why i set my "look" sensitivity high and my "aim" sensitivity a bit less. lets me look at them fast while my aim is a little slower and more precise for me in these situations. everyone has their way of doing it though so, find what works best for you.

If the engagement is close, higher sensitivity is better

If the engagement has range, lower sensitivity is better

The thing is that you cant always control if the fight is close up or not so you need a sensitivity that will be versatile in both situations

You dont want to go extreme either way because the situations change

In IV Free Aim Team Deathmatches on Airport would usually only be Assault Rifles and all the pros would roll with Low sensitivity because all engagements had the same far range.

I want to ask about the camera you guys use while aiming

Over the shoulder, over the back or over the body?

I have something similar called a Xim edge that I like to use for FPS games. The only problem with a game like GTA is the freakin weapon wheel. There no way to set it up so right since it's based on analog position. It's highly frustrating to change weapons, otherwise I would have been dropping fools with my mouse a long time ago.

Yeah, that's another problem with a game like this. But at least with the xim you can have your controller plugged in as well. There are three slots you can use. If you can be arsed to switch between the two than it's not a problem. I can't stand it though, so I just suffer with my controller in this game and use the xim for games with no vehicles. It actually didn't work too bad in RDR though with the horses.

gawd, didn't you make the same thread a day or two ago for racing? your ego must be so big you have trouble fitting anything else than it in a room.your name just goes to prove my point.

“If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.”

falsely attributed to Zaphod Beeblebrox, when it clearly was OP who said that.

I beg to differ.... Recently, recruiting new members to The NCFM I have encountered many people who after playing us, I have told very simple tips, they have thanked me in return and say they helped alot. One is to use R2 to aim not L2 as you can move faster, I now use a lower aim sensitivity as using R2 to aim allows your character to move faster (dodging more bullets) and allows you not to have to use R3 to aim (right analog stick)

If the engagement is close, higher sensitivity is better

If the engagement has range, lower sensitivity is better

While aiming I use R2 so the camera doesn't really matter, hold down R2 lightly and you will see your character moves 4x faster

Use an RPG on the pilot bastards, they use rockets, so do I, If they use mini guns, then I just use a carbine, some use a mini gun, blows them up quite fast, but the rocket technology on GTA V is improved alot from GTA IV so rockets are harder to dodge, but harder to aim also

Well you pretty much just guaranteed you're going to die at least once, but that works in your favor. Just use pilot psychology and pretend you're the pilot. Look for where the cover is just work with it. If you spawn behind them you might want to start sniping his tail rotor instead of trying to take out the pilot. It only takes a few clean shots to a tail rotor to take out a chopper, but even if you don't most people will usually start flying away before you get a chance to. If you're not good at sniping just take out a MG or combat MG and go crazy toward the pilot or the rotor/tail rotor area and you'll be able to down it.

I'm on PS3 and personally I find free aim more fun and exciting. But I guess it depends on each person. I think you should try it, maybe you like it, maybe you don't.

How exactly do you set up Free Aim, again?

Go to settings from Story mode.

It's wrong that higher sensitivities are better, look at what professional players use in other online games, like in tournaments etc, always is really low sensitivity, certainly never above medium.

Accuracy is the most important thing.

I use low sensitivity and kontrol freeks(analog extenders) so I can be super accurate, it works for me.
