So I am chasing this guy down with a bounty and suddenly the screen froze. Tried going to the main menu nothing worked. Even pressed the middle button on the controlled still nothing. Anyone know why this is happening?

It wouldn't be so bad if the game actually loaded from start in less than 4 minutes.

Completely new issue, there totally hasn't been hundreds of threads about this since patch 1.11's release. :sarcasm:

But that really is the solution. Turn off your 360/PS3 until R* fixes it. There is no other reliable solution.

For me I got this to work (XBOX 360):

- fixes at least 75% of freezing (went from 4 times a day to 1 time a day)

- fixes unrecognizable disc error

- fixes lag issues

- fixes stuck in loading screen

- fixes cloud servers errors (first hand experience)

1.

Clear system cache,

if issues continue go to 2 or 3

2. If play disc installed:

uninstall play disc

reinstall play disc

if issues continue go to 4:

3. If play disc not installed:

uninstall GTA V

reinstall GTA V

If issues continue go to 4:

4.

reinstall GTA V + play disc on your HDD;

preferred to install play disc on USB; but this is not necessary.

5. cloud server fix:

change your DNS settings to:

first line: 8.8.8.8

second line: 8.8.4.4

This is not a DNS server cheat, just a fix for a better internet connection with the R* cloudservers*

Well, that's the only step you need.

Turn it off and try again later, maybe you'll be lucky enough not to crash next time.

No need for ANOTHER one these threads.

I'd like to nominate GTA V Patch 1.11 for this fantastic award.

The freeze is real.

I froze out a couple of days back, in the worst spot of all times. Made well over $20k with deathmatches and before the cute yellow ring came to save, it crashed. R*'s new scheme still won't make me buy cashcards. :turn:

those DNS settings are google DNS, definately not a cheat and one of the best DNS servers in the world... will outrank and outperform your ISP DNS in most cases...

as brian-y as this explanation is, it has merit... wont fix it for everyone, but for those with clogged up cache, install/patche errors it might improve things

Well, Clearing the cache worked for me till an extent. Game used to crash like 4 to 5 times. Now crashes only once after playing for like 15 minutes. Then I have to restart console and play and I can play for hours!
