Andreaz1
Some quote trains around here grow to be absolutely insane in size and lately I've seen it annoying both members and moderators. Another forum I'm on automatically deletes "quotes in quotes" which effectively gets rid of this problem. I'm not sure if it's something that could be implemented here. If, for some reason, a quote inside another quote is really important, it can always be manually added back in. For example, if I were to quote this post then the parts I marked in red would be automatically deleted by the forum as I press the "Quote" button: If this was possible, then maybe it'd be possible to also make the forum remove [img=]tags from quotes. Pictures or even .gifs that are being quoted again and again are incredibly annoying as they take up such massive amounts of space on the page and I'm not sure if they also have a negative effect on bandwidth and such. I hate massive quote trains too.. How about just putting the quotes compact like the YT comments? So if you hover over them, they expand?

I agree with you here. I'd like to see some system implemented where rather than removing the nested quotes (some users may want to still read the entire quoted conversation), each nested quote is collapsed with a little [+] next to them. Midnightz
I'd be happier if they removed quotes entirely. It's an abused feature as is.

If you reply to something I have said in a topic where I have mutliple posts and you respond to one particular post how am I to know which one you are talking about. Much easier with quotes. a20characterusername
GTA3Rockstar
Or kind of like the member window pop up if you hover over someone's avatar. Have a clickable arrow-like they do now- that pops up the quote in another window like mentioned above.
Alarming
Maybe have a word limit with quotes
Midnightz
@Hodgey Gee I don't know, like I just did? Or context maybe? I said I'd be happier without them. That's not nonsense. It's just my preference since I'm f*cking tired of scrolling through pages upon pages of quotes - especially on mobile. Alarming
chrisscorsese88
Unless there's a way to make it so it automatically takes a quote out of another quote. So instead of: I'd be happier if they removed quotes entirely. If you reply to something I have said in a topic where I have mutliple posts and you respond to one particular post how am I to know which one you are talking about. Much easier with quotes. It would would automatically take out the "inside quote" so it just becomes this. That's nonsense. If you reply to something I have said in a topic where I have mutliple posts and you respond to one particular post how am I to know which one you are talking about. Much easier with quotes. It's not that big of a deal to delete it manually, at least for me, but some people don't for some reason or another.

That probably would be better, however like you said it's not hard just to delete quotes you dont want manually.
