Notifications by thread rather than post?

Yesterday I set my notifications to show me replies to threads I post in. Today I came on to be greeted by no less than 50 notifications (cap, maybe?) but most of these were from the same threads.

 

Basically, I'm used to forums showing me a list of threads that have been active since I last posted in them, not a huge ream of individual posts which are largely irrelevant to me. I appreciate the notices about people specifically quoting my posts, but is there a setting I missed which would group everything else by thread?

 

Thanks for finally approving my account by the way. (That sounded sarcastic but I am actually grateful).

Hey @Robaldinio, try this:

1. Click your username on the Black Community Bar in the top right corner of the page
2. Select 'New Content' on the drop down menu
3. Once there, there should be a list of options on the left hand side of the page - Simply click "Items I participated in" located under the "Other" Category

That's exactly what I mean!

 

I guess if that can't be tied in with actual notifications, I could just bookmark that page and use it as my landing page for the forum. Thanks dude.

 

Side question: If I were to uncheck this first option below, but keep the second, would that have the effect I'm talking about?

 

1. Notification method to use for replies to followed topics

 

2. Notification method to use for topics in followed forums

 

(I've tried it now so I guess we'll see...)

Well, what that setting means is that it will notify you about new topics/replies from a particular part of the forum that you are following.

 

What I mean is, view the GTA Network Support Forum:

http://gtaforums.com/forum/2-gta-network-support/

 

You will see a button at the top of the page saying "Follow This Forum"

 

Any new content from only that forum you should be notified for, as you are following it (If you click "Follow This Forum).

So, if you did that for each individual forum on the site, then you may get the effect you wished in the original post
