These forums need a check and balance system.

During my brief time here on the forums I've seen more threads locked and closed suddenly without reason than I have on any other forum I've been on such as Forza or 2K sports forums. Surely most of these warrant being being closed but it happens in such an abrupt inappropriate manner that it really gives of an SS, KGB kind of vibe. The power is in the hands of too few and those few have lost touch with the core of the forums. I've found it to be impossible to get in touch with a mod to actually discuss these issues of locking and deleting threads without legitimate warrant, instead it's responses that feel automated and robotic. There is no discussion either, a real "my way or the highway" mentality. Threads like ScubaDaves seem to go on until the mods get "bored" of it instead of locking them immediately they just watch and laugh at the arguments then without warning the threads become locked. A flawed system? Or have the mods become "corrupted"?

If anything, mods and led-bys don't lock enough threads, and are too lenient. If you have a thread that's been locked and you haven't been told why, you can generally get a response by making a thread in the site issues forum.

Want checks and balance? Start your own site. The person who owns this runs it the way they want because they can, and it's not a democracy so you have no say.

 

Only way to show them you dislike is by not coming to their site, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a better forum for this game.

This right here is why I love GTAF. The moderating team is not too strict, but somewhat lenient as well, and they all know how to take a joke.

 

Honestly, if I were a mod/led-by on this wonderful site, I wouldn't be doing anything different than they are.

Corrupt would assume they gain monetary positives by running the forums for this site. Having done that other places, I can tell you no one got rich on being a forum Mod.

If you have any specific issues please bring them up but we can't abide everyone with a chip on their shoulders when it comes to moderation of the site to have a dedicated complaint thread back here. If you have any specific problems, please report them or contact a member of the moderation staff. We lock threads and remove threads to keep the forums tidy. As you may have noticed by the quality of the responses you've garnered in this thread, these types of conversations and misplaced threads left unlocked only lead to more stuff we need to clean up.

 

All of the spam posters above me - there's a crackdown coming. Please act accordingly.
