Game won't load Online as an option

Hi guys,

 

New to this forum but this problem has been going on AGES.

 

Me and my bf both have PSN accounts and have both played GTA Online ever since it was released.

 

In the last couple of months we have had a recurring issue and it has made the game totally unplayable.

 

It goes like this...

 

Signed into PSN. Other online games all work fine.

 

Load GTA Online. Gets to the screen where it says 'Loading Story Mode | Load Online X'

 

Except it doesn't say Load Online. It only says 'Loading Story Mode', and then it eventually freezes.

 

So we can't play either story or online. On RARE occasions (like 1 out of every 15 or 20 attempts), it will offer Online, and even more rare it will actually load the game.

 

Also before we were getting this problem, we were only able to play online for say 20 minutes before it full on froze and needed a PS3 reboot. Never really got infinite loading though.

 

Any ideas guys? Much appreciated, I'm a PS3 newbie in many ways, only got into playing with GTA V. Thanks in advance.

There are quite a few posts relating to console freezes lately but I haven't heard of this exact issue. Just a suggestion, but do you have a friend's PS3 that you could log onto with your PSN ID & install GTAV to see if it will work? That way, it may help you isolate your issue to perhaps your console or your internet connection.

I haven't heard of this specific issue anywhere either. I wouldn't normally start a thread about bugs and errors cos they're usually done to death, but I hadn't seen any like this.

 

That's a good idea, I may ask one of my bf's friends to check for us. But, it does affect both of our individual PS3 accounts, and individual PSN ID's...do you think that may still work?

If it is happening for both your account on the same console & network/ISP then yes give it a try on another console & preferably one with a different service provider.

 

Also, do you know anything about home networking? Are you familiar with your wireless router setup? If so, you can try putting your console in the DMZ of your router. That might help.

Hey Meatrocket, I'm not sure how to do that! Would you mind explaining it to me?

just look at the name & model number of your wifi router. then go to Google to find the owner's manual. look in the owner's manual for how to change the settings of the router. look specifically for DMZ.
