Do you do the parachute racing with others?

I rarely get the chance to do some parachute races with others. When they're on the voting screen I vote for the one there but get outvoted - usually to goto another car race, fair enough. But parachuting does payout quite handsomely, I'm not one who likes to farm mission after mission online so I've taken to trying to get some parachute racing going, but usually play them on my own. Even racing solo they can pay 3-5k and give you around 1500-2000 rp which is heaps more than some of the car races and none of the pitting.

So I wonder do you do these parachute races much?

Occasionally, it's mostly when if I'm in a group with my crew/friends and we are doing missions and nothing good pops up on the random missions list, we'll do a parachute jump or something. They are actually really fun when you get a big group together and everyone is betting cash, can get pretty competitive.

 

I normally avoid jumping into random ones because it is usually completely empty except for the host.

I think they're good value in regards to prize money and RP if farming missions ain't your cuppa tea but rarely get the majority vote.

Could do a road race that lasts 5 or 6 mins, get pitted to death, limp home and get under 1k and a few hundred RP. Compare to parachute race end up with 1000s more cash and lots more RP for less time.

I hate parachute 'races' since there is no interaction between each other so it's not even a proper race, also It seems whenever I spend ages getting a perfect score I won't have enough speed to make the landing area, therefore giving me a DNF and terrible payout, I f***ing hate the way if you DNF from hitting your parachute on something or missing the landing area by 5cm it takes away ALL of your points (and makes your payout crap)

no interactoin?? you can have weapons enabled and shoot your comrades from the sky...

 

but its not exactly hard to finish in the landing zone... are you form norfolk by any chance?

Every once in a blue moon. I did a few last session with a random guy who was damn good at it, still managed to get 3 wins to his 2 though.

 

I'll tell you this much, if you think parachuting is a ghost town, try LTS or even capture. Those are populated only by tumbleweed.

Parachute races are like mcdonalds you go there once because there is nothing else to do and its ok but you don't want to go there again because of the food

jsut as a thought, he hates that catching your parachute on something causing DNF... im pretty sure hitting the side of a skyscraper while parachuting and falling to the ground IRL causes a permanant DNF from life...

I did all the parachute stuff in SP waiting for online to come out. So yes I do them on occassion. Can be tough to find people but I have a few friends that do as mentioned above, when there are no missions popping up. I even bought the black chute and red smoke.

Some of them are tricky, the one where you come down over the pier I've hit the coaster a couple of times and faceplanted the pier lol. The trick to the finish is aim for the outside so you roll into the target. Even the DNF pays cash and RP, you just dont get any JP.

Occasionally. But to be honest, free roam parachuting is much much more fun than the parachute racing 'missions'.

Parachute races are quick and require some skill. I try to get people to play them whenever the continue screen only presents crap (including land races of any type anymore).

 

I can get crew mates onboard usually, randoms rarely.

It is hard to hit the landing zone, because if you want to be accurate and get 15 pts on each checkpoint you will often have to manoeuvre or slow down, so by the time you get to the end you won't have enough speed left.

thats funny cos ive never missed a landing zone and regularly get perfect checkpoint scores... you sure your using the precise landing and carving turns properly... methinx you just need more practice at parachute jumping.

It would be better and more competitive if bonus points were allotted depending on what position you finish the jump. The person who finished in the least amount of time should get extra points compared to the person who takes the most time.

My friends and crew are pretty adept parachutists so we do play them from time to time.

I enjoy them, but like the OP, not many randoms will join in with you. The last couple of nights, me and a few buddies of mine had a nice play lobby just doing races, and parachuting which was quite fun. It was a nice break from farming RR and Coveted all day.

 

Off topic, who thinks there should be an emergency chute for when you hit something and you start freefalling? I think that would be pretty awesome!

I do agree to an extent but when you go thru the checkpoints just use RB or LB to guide you in the direction of the arrows. Using the turn stick or whatever it's called can make it tricky.
