If you are experiencing issues with your console freezing during play, please try the following.

Xbox 360: Try clearing your Xbox cache. This is a great first step to solve many issues when playing on Xbox 360. In the event that does not work, try reinstalling the game.

PS3: On PS3, you'll want to delete the Game Data for GTA V. This will remove the latest update and allow it to reinstall. From there, if you are still experiencing problems, follow the instructions at the link above and delete the install data instead. This will allow you to reinstall the game.

If after reinstalling there are still issues with freezes, try reinstalling from a friend's disc when possible as there may be issues with the install disc such as scratches or smudges. You can also try to clean the disc with a soft cloth.

Finally, try playing on a friend's console if possible with your profile. If you are able to play on that console, there may be a console hardware problem on your device.

If none of these methods work for you, please submit a request to our support team for one on one assistance if you have not already.

You know what? I think Brian B is right! Even though he just copies the same message all over again, I never had problems with my 2012 PS3 Slim 160GB and pre-order Grand Theft Auto V blu-ray disc.

Actually May Be A Problem with your System Cache. My game used to lag heavily even though i had a good internet. Cleared the System Cache and never had any problems since.

Sometimes i wonder if Brian is actually a Human. He looks and sounds like a robot...

WE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTILL THE LATEST PATCH...my ps3 frooze maybe 5 times since the launch..since the patch it happens 5 times a day...its called blowing smoke people, Brian B as well as R* is probably clueless as to why this is happening..So, they reach for anything to explain the situation

and just an FYI, every time this happens we get closer and closer to having to do a factory reset on our systems...Its only a matter of time before all our game sava data is corrupt

I guess they can't just come out and admit "Our 1.11 Patch Absolutely Freezes Consoles And We Don't Know Why" despite the overwhelming amount of people who all noticed the same thing at the same time.

Brian B is probably some poor schmuck who has no clue what is actually going on. In fact I am starting to think the "B" is for "Bangalore", home of damn near all customer service these days!

GT5 would do the same thing, and clearing the cache would fix it.

I'm running a First Gen 60GB PS3 and haven't had any problems other than the occasional map loading lag a little.

I agree on the clearing console cache for some stuff. i developed really bad texture pop in and clearing the cache fixed that. the problem, i'm having with the windows not rolling down with the flip the bird gesture seems directly related to the 1.11 update though.

Definitely not hardware problems because multiple people are being frozen at the same time and it has never happened until the recent update

Phew, I still playing on my 1st generation Fat PS3 (that YLODed in December but had been fixed) and I haven't got even a single freeze neither pre-patch time nor after. Looks like I'm lucky.

I had freezing problems on Saturday, only while in a public lobby. Cleared the system cache on the 360 and didn't have any more freezing. Mind you kept getting signed out of Xbox live

Never froze on my 360 slim 2 years old. Only time I have frozen in games was gta iv where modders could freeze you or when reporting a modder in gta v which I hardly see modders

Definitely related to the patch. My console never froze this much. The other day myself and 3 of my friends playing together all froze up at the same time, roughly 30-45 seconds apart. They f*cked up, not us.

This is complete bullsh*t. they know its there servers, people with sh*t net connections, and possibly people glitching content creator stuff into free mode . this is like dice with bf3 oh your tv isn't in game mode thats why you experiencing such bad input lag, first all game mode on a tv does is helps out a very tiny little bit i thinks its .03 seconds i forgot what someone said.

Didn't Rockstar advise against installing the game when it first came out?

Can't remember atm.
