Paying The Differences Instead of Full Price For Mods

Has anybody else wondered why we don't just pay the differences instead of full price when we upgrade to the next model at LSC?

Like when you have 80% armour which is about $35,000 and then you unlock the 100% which is $50,000 why don't we just pay the difference instead of full price?

Because that's not how it works IRL neither. You got what you payed for; you want something better, pay for it.

Sure, it'd be convenient, though.

When you upgrade from say a $20,000 engine to a $50,000 engine you pay $50,000 not $30,000. In real life they remove the old engine and then put in the new engine valued at $50,000 they don't just add parts to the existing engine. That's why you pay full price.

I always thought about this too. It also kinda lame that we have to pay for rims, colors, etc. again if we decide to switch and then switch back.

true that you do need to pay for the new enginer in full (plus fitting obvs.)

but who keeps your existing 20k engine?? not the garage thats for sure. In Los Santos that engine seems to just disappear...

Well it's assuming the labour costs are the same and the individual unit price of the engine increases as it's quality increases. I'd say they remove the old enjine and scrap it. Then use the leftover metal to build that ugly structure at VespuccI beach.

no that is not true is all cases, but i see your point, however if they keep my old engine i should get a trade in allowance

It can be a waste of money upgrading a car just as soon as you unlock a part ........I waited until i had unlocked all the engines for that class of car before i started upgrading...why waste the money on a level 3 engine when i was only a win or three away from the level 4 (hosting the races yourself and keeping customs off will help keep the field level)
