Friends can't join my online freeroam?

Has anyone else experienced this? a couple of friends are trying to join a online freeroam session im in, but it says 'invites are currently disabled in this session' is this new?

Do you wear a pointy white hat? may be the reason, just asking.

 

No that message is not what you get when you try to enter a bad sport lobby.

 

OP, in invite only sessions you have to invite your friends, they can't join you through the pause menu.

Ahh maybe he was on a "solo" session thats why invites are disabled
