CantThinkOfOne2013
People compare every aspect of a GTA game except for vehicle variety so I thought I would make a (what I hope to become an official) thread about it, and vehicle variety is the most important aspect of a game like this IMO. Judging on the very few discussions I have had about it (mainly with StingrayX), it comes down to this 'actual variety of vehicles other than cars while still retaining enough generic cars' vs 'a lot more generic cars but no unique vehicles'. Since vehicle variety is the most important aspect for me, I will obviously go with the former, having all the different unique vehicles ads a lot for me, yeah sure a rusty tractor or a lawn mower can't escape a police cruiser but being able to steel them adds freedom and vehicles like that add a lot more life to the world (a lot of the dead locations in GTA IV were dead due to a lack of vehicle variety), I also feel that a variety of unique vehicles is a series tradition (dating all the way back to the original GTA, although back than it would be have difficult to appreciate what's unique due to the top down nature, a newsvan may appear as a generic van for example). tranceking26
There are too many super cars compared to normal cars - which is something I never thought would be a bad thing, but I'd much rather have Hunter's and other cool vehicles than DLC with more super cars. Hell, even a jetpack would add to variety, even if you used it twice in a year. The cars like Presidente and PMP600, those types are lacking in numbers. There also are a fair few SUV compared to other types. There are so many cool different type of vehicles out there missing :-( Backup Warrior, Gnocchi Flip Flops, MitchMaljers and 1 other
Lethal Vaccine
There are too many super cars compared to normal cars You mean there is 8 Super Cars? How is that a lot? I see more boxy sedans, SUV's, and Coupes on the road more than anything, tbh. Plus, Adder doesn't spawn in traffic, nor does the Turismo R, Entity XF, Vacca, or Cheetah. So that means you're talking about a LOT of Coil Voltics, Infernus', and Bullets? Three Super Cars? Clxbsport
I like the variety of cars in GTA V, but all the cool cars from the previous HD Universe game were gone. Where did the PMP 600 go? That should be a pretty cool car to fit in Los Santos's streets because of the city's theme of being a place for the rich and famous. And I would love tuning that car, if you ask me. But my other problem is how the way the cars spawn. Sometimes, when I'm driving around the Grand Senora Freeway, I see only three cars - Buffalos, Penumbras, and 2nd gen Cavalcades, which is a problem for me. And why won't they make the cars in websites spawn, but only rarely (although, the Z-Type is out of this question). At least SOMEBODY rather than the protagonists own the car. Clxbsport
Well, since LS is a more "for-the-rich" city, maybe R* took out all those old cars that wouldn't normally appear in modern-day LA. Although some would've remained though, like the PMP 600 we mentioned.

I mean how likely are you going to see a Tornado (57 Chev) on the streets? Yet it's reasonably common. I beg to differ, Mr. Tasty is just a knock off if Mr. Whoopee, the classic ice cream van from III, VC, and SA. Now all we got is some sh*tty Taco Van for V. Well, since LS is a more "for-the-rich" city, maybe R* took out all those old cars that wouldn't normally appear in modern-day LA. Although some would've remained though, like the PMP 600 we mentioned. Well...The Z-Type isn't "modern" nor is the Stinger GT, yet they are in the game. It's like that in every big city, maybe you didn't know because that's an assumption made by those not living in the US? There are rich areas and non-rich areas. Check out this guy's flickr, he lives in LA. http://www.flickr.com/photos/13411027@N00/with/13339383944 Look at the variety of vehicles! People here say that generic and cheap cars don't belong in V because that is how it is the "real life" counterpart, well I showed you some "real life" examples that are the opposite. There are many sports, super and exotic cars in Socal but the diversity of other vehicles is also high. If you need more evidence, just search flickr. Come on man. Anyways, they took a lot of cars that were essential for the V feel. And they f*cked up very bad with the Feltzer, normally I would be ok if it was buyable and didn't spawn in traffic, but they had to make it spawn in traffic... you don't know my rage when I saw it being driven by that annoying mexican retard that screamed "f*ck me in the ass". Other than that, I am not really bothered by some of the new cars, the Blista is not bad, but it doesn't deserves to be called a f*ckING BLISTA. Should have been a Vulcar Club. The reason people are is because rockstar gives the impression that these cars in there IV form still exist but are just not present in the game which is pretty annoying. If rockstar had kept the original names admittedly people would be complaining about the ugly and sometimes completely different redesigns. ... But then it wouldn't be a matter of car variety would it, this kind of proves my point that the naming is problem not the variety of the cars themselves. I said in my post "If rockstar had kept the original names admittedly people would be complaining about the ugly and sometimes completely different redesigns." The new names make complete sense I don't debate that. I was just saying that if rockstar had kept the original names, no one would be complaining about car variety, rather they would be complaining about how far the redesigns stray from the original designs. Highlighting the fact that car variety isn't the real problem here, the problem being people would rather have the old designs rather than the different models of the IV cars. (I.e. people wouldn't be complaining if the old Cognoscenti was in V and the Cabrio version wasn't.) The only place the car variety argument is valid is for cars that don't appear in any way in V such as the PMP 600 etc. Edited March 23, 2014 by ryan_J Gutslab

I can name loads of vehicles that are not in V from the PS2 era games, including IV. I still believe there is a lot of variation for cars in V, and people just miss the nastalgia of driving around a Dukes or Cognoscenti or PMP 600, etc... For instance, I miss the model of the Turismo from IV. We got back the "Turismo" in V, except with an "R" tacked on the end and a totally new design, except...I LOVE the V Turismo R JUST AS MUCH as the Turismo from IV. And at the end of the day, that is why you should own ALL GTA's. Then you can go back to them and have your fun. Things from past games don't exactly need to be carried over to the newest game. Rockstar always experiments and adds new things in and takes away old things. Some old stuff will reappear, and some new stuff in V will be taken out for a new game, as well. They can't keep releasing the same game with everything in from the past AND new things. It'd be too much for the console, tbh... There are SEVENTEEN damned SUV's, and that's NOT even counting pickup trucks like the Karin Rebel or the Sandking (but it does count the two Ballers as two vehicles, and the two Mesas as two vehicles). If you add the pickup trucks, it goes to like 25 (I'm not including the Kalahari though, since it's kind of useless). Several of those SUV's are badass, like the FQ2, Dubsta, Merryweather Mesa, Patriot, and Serrano.
