Richard Power Colt
Will this game see the light of day? What is the current state of things? What can you do right now? Missions etc? It hasn't really shown any signs of stopping as people keep pouring more money into this project. It'll probably take several years still before we see a finished version tho. Right now you can fly ships, do some missions, deliver cargo, kill AI pilots, explore several moons, fight other players in ship combat and FPS combat, team up with your friends to pilot a large ship, buy weapons and armor with money you've earned from doing missions and such etc. I wouldn't recommend hopping in now tho, because the game is in a very buggy state. Even if you have a good PC, you'll likely have to deal with frame rates around 20 or lower and there's also frequent crashes and many gameplay aspects that just haven't been refined yet. Hopefully tho the game will be at a much better state by the end of this year. They are developing some big inprovements to the game's infrastructure that should fix a lot of the things causing bad performance right now. jpm1
Cosmic Gypsy
Not really been following this game or checking this thread, i watched this: Last night and I'm pretty blown away to be honest, plus the stuff he's saying they're going to add sounds insane, mad detail and thought going into this. Richard Power Colt
That city planet is scheduled to come out near the end of the year(although knowing their history there's a good change it'll get delayed). The scale and level of detail in this game is definitely impressive. But right now I'm more eagerly waiting for them to make it a more stable and fun game to actually play. Cosmic Gypsy
I'm looking forward to the AI crowd system they were talking about, sounds like the streets will be as packed as the old Assassins Creed games when all is done, plus he said a passing statement saying hopefully in the future the AI will be even more "self aware"... So wtf, does that mean they're clued up on spatial awareness so they don't collide and go through obstacles and others NPC's? Or does it mean they're trying to act convincing and know when they're doing something ridiculous?
Richard Power Colt
They have this fancy term for the AI that they're developing: "AI subsumption". I don't remember what it really means beyond that supposedly the NPCs are gonna have daily schedules and stuff. deadx23
April 13 - April 16 Just use promo code: GETINTOTHEVERSE You will be able to use 3 ships and the cyclone seen in the pic, current backers can access the ships and vehicle in the same time frame using the same code. If you'd like to try it for free make an account and and hit the link https://robertsspaceindustries.com/promotions/April-Free-Fly-Event Also update 3.1.2 is live I haven't found the patch notes but they added persistence on ship logged out so I haven't tried yet but if you logged out in bed (I don't know how yet) you will spawn where you left off /aslo on crash) they also did multiple build test on the ptu (5 in the last couple of days turns out they wanted it running better for free fly weekend) Oh and if any new members LOOK AT MY SIG Edited April 14, 2018 by deadx23

Dryspace
After seeing the post regarding the Free Fly Event I decided to check out the game for the first time. However, the link took me to a page in which I was asked to read the Privacy Policy, which changed my mind in a hurry. It amazes me that people allow companies to get away with this bullmanure. Dryspace
I didn't know whether the policy was abnormal or not. I freely admit that I don't read every policy I encounter. I'm hoping that I did overreact, though, because I would like to check out the game. One of the things I disliked most of all I believe I was mistaken about--that all information, in-game and on the website, is given to Google Analytics. I still don't like the idea of a company helping to make Google ever more powerful, nor do I think that my purchases are any of Google's business. While on the subject, there is one aspect that I don't understand, though: The claim that the company is "obliged by applicable law to identify our commercial customers" and "prohibited by law from providing you with commercial services without collecting such information". Clearly a company must abide by law, but I have never known of an obligation in any U.S. state of a business to collect personal information by which to identify each of its customers. Transaction information for tax purposes, yes, but not personal information. If I make an online purchase I will enter personal info, but I neither elect nor expect that the information is saved. deadx23

Do you use Anti-Tracker / Script Blocker? If not, it doesn't matter anymore. Google, Facebock etc are on nearly every website (this very forum has google-analytics, quantservice, Facebook, doubleclick.net) amongst others. So, if you don't use anti-Software, you'd have to avoid this forum as well if you don't want to give google more data. deadx23
On SC news; Even though they are working on the next push for content (3.2), there's a team still pushing bug fixes and the current ptu is 3.1.4b that is open to all backers. Currently they are working with the "gravlev" feature for the bikes (it's not working as it should, uncontrollable) ,also they are making updates on their ifcs Cyclone Also I was able to make a video see the current state of the stability of the game. I was just testing the bikes on damar. Edit; Update 3.1.4c ptu is released https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/4/thread/star-citizen-alpha-3-1-4c-ptu-749761-patch-notes And for those of you who are in the verse there is a screenshot contest "Intel Optane SSD 900p Giveaway -" this week Scenic Vista Screenshots https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/intel-optane-ssd-900p-giveaway-round-2-scenic-vist Edited May 1, 2018 by deadx23

Richard Power Colt
Update 3.2 just hit the private Evocati testing phase. And here's the latest version of their Roadmap: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen So some stuff got delayed like expected. Network bind culling got delayed again, but it doesn't really matter since supposedly you need Object Container Streaming (which is scheduled for 3.3) to get any real benefit from it anyway. FPS AI got delayed which kinda sucks. Fortunately a lot of things have entered the polishing phase and according to leaks an early version of mining is already implemented into the current evocati so it looks like that will actually make it in. It's nice to see more stuff coming together tho tbh until they fix the performance I'm not really eager to get in and start playing. If they can deliver Object Container Streaming and Bind Culling in 3.3 then that'll likely be the update where I start playing more, Hurston looks like a pretty cool location too. Richard Power Colt
3.2 update is live: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/4/thread/star-citizen-alpha-3-2-0-live-796019-patch-notes Edit: I played it a bit and the game actually seems to run a bit better now. It still stuttered like hell for me on Olisar, but once I got out of there I was actually getting pretty decent frame rates and my PC isn't really the most high end. jpm1
what scares me a bit, it's that to justify the astonishing backing amounts, C. R. dripfeeds us with some always more. if you look at the big city vid above. you hear the fanboys shouting behind, while the guy is showing a demo we all know you can't run it with descent FPS with an under 5000E rig. the problem of the game/Chris Roberts right now it's that he doesn't have any engine. Lumberyard should do it, but nobodies knows if it will, or when it will. i think C. Roberts should have set up a backing limit. and close the backings once reached. right now i have the feeling he's in a kind of infernal spiral, where he can't refund the backers, and where he has no engine. so he dripfeeds with demos that shows 4096 textures or whatever, but there's no game. and people still applause. personnally i paid 50E for an avenger, and now i'm asking myself just one question, where has my money gone. but with all these dripfeed demos, sometimes we have the feeling the limits are regularly pushed away, and the more these limits are pushed away, the more ir seems these limits will never be reached. C. R. is actually lucky nowadays kids love to mast...te with their specs. i know creating a new engine is something really complex, but what i'm trying to say it's that maybe he should have aimed a bit lower Edited July 27, 2018 by jpm1
deadx23
FREE FLY WEEKEND https://robertsspaceindustries.com/promotions/Gamescom-Free-Fly Aug.24-27 Just follow the steps and you'll be able to explore the current built with cool ships Current backers could try these ships just by following same steps. Just a FYi there is a $35 game starter package for star citizen includes: ship (Aurora) self hanger, 1000uec (in game currency)and 3 months insurance for ship. For new people all you need is the basic package every ship is earnable when game is released and soon we will be able to buy ships temporary with alpha uec (will be deleted/reset on every alpha update but not what you buy with real cash) also better package imo if you want to go the extra mile is the mustang star citizen package with squadron 42 game single palyer game.(2 games ) for $55 https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge Try the game engine lumberyard fully working, next update got moved because citizencon coming on october 10 2018 . https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen Moons are done hurston almost done , Core tech is coming nicely. they gave numbers to give an idea; currently they track over 90,000 entities with the new tech in place that will only track 7,000 but they did say they are going to use that extra resource to put more stuff in. eclipse:
Dryspace
I'm not going to pay $35 for a "game starter package" for a game that doesn't even exist. P.S. When I tried running their code a few months ago, I couldn't get anything close to a playable framerate on my 980 Ti at any settings. It was a hitching, stuttering mess, which frankly surprised me. Dryspace
@deadx23 What I meant was that the game isn't completed--it's still in development. Just like a cake doesn't exist until it's finished being baked. Until then, it's just cake mix in the oven. I don't know what's weird about the code not being playable a few months ago. I simply said that I was surprised, because I had the impression that people were messing around in it, but when I went into the game on a 980 Ti, it wasn't playable at all. Especially when I went outside, it would freeze up for a minute at a time. I have no problem paying good money for a game. Just let me know when a game is completed and let me download the demo. If it's good I'll be throwing money at you so fast even Neo couldn't dodge it.

deadx23
Ok so important feature will not make 3.3 update on oct. 10.ocs (object container streaming) and hurtsen with it's moon it's not making the 3.3 deadline . It's pushed back to the 3.3.5 update so to be clear the next major (schedule update) was 3.4 for quarter 4 release still In Schedule still planned. the 3.3.5 will probably go live 2-3 weeks after 3.3 release definitely before quarter 4 release. It Should be understandable for a new game feature they just finished building will be buggy and definitely need tweeks with further testing. The feature a.i. fps combat is really important to me cause it's an actual game play feature that will bring good amount of missions relating in fps combat that will be on 3.3 on oct. 10. Also some other neat content is being added like the voIP/foIP with any stock camera following your face expressions. Richard Power Colt
It's a little disappointing, I was actually fairly optimistic that it would make it in time as it looked like they were making good progress on it and 3.3 already received a slight delay due to Citizencon. I think I'll wait for OCS before I hop back in to play this. The performance improvements should hopefully remove a lot of the frustration from this game. jpm1
you need to make the game look to a game, and not a demo, if you want FPS improvements. GTAO features only a small island, with no interiors, and look the hardware you need to be able to play maxed out with good fps. they slaughtered the handling, they removed 3D objects in the streets, reduced peds density, never put new cars inside traffic..the last time i played SC was years ago, and the game looked way too beautiful. i mean the FPS was absolutely horrible
