GTAO Keeps Freezing My PS3

I remember RDR destroyed my old fat boy PS3, so I purchased a brand new one 500 GB at the same time I bought GTAV. I basically bought it solely for this game, and it's the only game I've played on this system. Anyhow, GTAO appears to be doing the same thing to my new PS3, constantly freezing up randomly about every 30 minutes, and the intervals are getting shorter.

Anybody experiencing this?

Not the patch. Likely cheaters ala tow truck freezes. Played extensively on my old FAT PS3 (the poor thing is still alive since RDR) and didn`t freeze once. I am not playing in public lobbies, btw.

Yes, they ARE incompetent, but not in the way that you describe. It is not the software per se. Likely stuff that shouldn`t be in MP and throwing unhandled errors. More akin to the fact that they can`t police their game for sh*t, rather than the actual game.

I believe it is. I've only ever had my console freeze twice while playing before the latest patch. It now happens twice a day or so on average.

 

And no, it isn't cheaters.

the patch or some weird hack going around is doing it, i froze 4 times today just for driving fast and using a plane

Join the club, mine freezes every 5 mins when I go to GTA O. Absolutely delightful

 

 

Also noticed when your offline and play SP, it doesn't freeze at all so it's definitely something to do with the latest patch

My Xbox hardly freezes (no not trying to start a console war so go away, fanboys), but it has froze a couple of times. It's not a consistent problem so I'm not really bothered by it, but when it does freeze it tends to be at a crucial moment...

lol i contemplated just standing still for a small while in my game just to see if even that will make it freeze, but im too lazy.

 

also, the more threads like this that get opened, the better. i made one like this about 2 days ago and people were trying to act like i was wrong for criticizing this flaw. but the more threads that mention freezing get created, the more i feel AWESOME inside.

maybe the servers have something to do with it, i've been noticing more people teleporting around and the map suddenly going into its low render thing while im still in the location

 

i know its not my connection thats causing it

I play exclusively Invite Only. Never with strangers. Yesterday I traded wins for about 4+ hours with a gentleman, for my alt. He was driving a very standard Adder, while I was switching between my very standard Entity and Turismo R. Haven`t had any freeze. And I SHOULD have, since my console dates since RDR and I`d imagine it`s clogged with dust, so it SHOULD be prone to overheating and freezing up.

Possibly, but I noticed that when the game is about to freeze, the blu-Ray drive stops functioning(you know how you hear those loud sounds when the ps3 is reading discs, idk how to explain it ) I thought my blu ray was broken but I tried all my other games and they're all working just fine. I just hope they release the next patch soon before it gets any worse

i dont even play the damn game anymore since the damn thing freezes on a daily basis. ive spent more time on this forum in the past few days than in the game, which is surprisingly funnier and less chaotic than the game itself. i say that very loosely though, since i dont wanna sugarcoat it.

I HOPE I can get my ass in gear and farm me some RR, or learn me some circuits. I will likely play solo for both said activities and I HOPE I can string 2-4 hours together. IF I don`t freeze, then it is 99% public lobbies and cheaters, or some bug that is not present on FAT 80 Gb PS3.

Honestly, My PS3 has not frozen once since the 1.11.1 hotfix last week. On 1.11 it did freeze sometimes.

Dunno if it matters, but mine is the original launch PS3 and it works like a charm.

In a previous patch, people were able to get tow trucks in online. They were said to freeze up any console that would come within drawing distance of said vehicle.

 

[EDIT] Let`s pretend I own a cracked console and I dabble into the save editor. Let`s pretend I put some mods on one of my cars that it was never intended to be in online, or in the game to begin with, but it is present in the game files. There is no guarantee that anyone else won`t crash / freeze, the second they come within drawing distance of said mod, in some public lobby.

i dont think tow trucks are the problem. i think that it's something else. im pretty sure that the tow truck problem is gone. unless they are bringing in tow trucks from SP to MP, but i doubt it. there are too many people freezing on too often of a basis for this to be a tow truck issue. only so many people will actually bother getting a useless towtruck.

Was giving an example of a previous incident, from "only" a car.

 

It is not, however, exclusive to only the patch. I suspect its root lies somewhere else, seeing how I haven`t frozen yet.. and I did plenty in BF4, so I`m not some magical exception
