Does Anyone Freeclimb or Freerun?

I know this isn't Liberty City and there aren't any high enough buildings cluddering the sky, but does anyone climb buildings or go up on cranes? I know I'm starting to love it. You get a real awesome view and a sense of accomplishment.

Okay, okay... maybe that's not your cup of tea. What about freerunning and parkour-ing? I only wish I didn't have to mash the A button.

But anyway, if you have any stories or any good places to run and explore, please share!

I was on the crane behind Tinsel Towers or near Eclipse Towers..

On another crane near the freeway. It's the one for that mission (Mixed up With Coke)

It's funny because your character kind of looks like Faith from Mirror's Edge.

Construction site. Also riding a BMX up the ramps and jumping from great heights.

I've been known for a little parkour in GTA: Online. It's quite fun actually.Trying running and climbing through the back yards of South LS. The streets near the impound, and Grove street too.

No, but sometimes I hope into a train and start jumping on the crates, fallen a lot of times though

Yes, I like exploring higher-up areas, it's great that there are more ladders going up from street level to rooftops so you don't need a helicopter to get up to a roof. The rooftops along Del Perro and Vespucci are great for free running and climbing.

Sometimes, I try to make the best out of the climbing system. I hate jumping into a wall and faceplanting to my death lol. I'd rather have GTA IV's climbing system anyday.

Yep...I'm always running around on foot, working on my evasive skills and whatnot.

If I see any possible way of scaling something, I will.

I remember way back in the dark days waiting for GTAV, sometimes people on GTAF would speculate about parkour as a possible activity. Now that we GTA0 is here, I expect that some players have tried to do parkour-like stuff.

But there is no way to make a proper parkour type race. If Rockstar would add the ability for footraces in Content Creator (i.e., if you could clear waypoints on foot), people could probably make some interesting parkour and cross-country races. I would probably try to figure out how to wire a key-repeat into the run key button on the controller, however, because it would be murder on the thumb. :colgate:

IThese are the best pics I have of my explorations, but I've scaled/attempted to scale many structures.

My thoughts exactly, was it on purpose?

yes I've done a lot of parkour, and bmx'ing too. I haven't been able to find people yet who are into it but I'm on ps3 if anyone wants to try sh*t sometime...

Yeah actually find it much more enjoyable in V than IV as R* have added lots of ladders and joining buildings. Lately I like to explore all the roofs around rockford hills near franklins home. I make my goal to get onto as many rooftops as possible and boom dive/flop into the swimming pools.

No, the climbing mechanics in this game are toilet water compared to gta IV. You can't even grab onto a ledge which extremely limits the flow of free running

My character can't swim correctly or walk down a 1-foot hill without tripping and ragdolling, so no :bored:

I don't get why they would take something good in a previous game, and totally screw it up...

Yeah, good point. I was incredibly disappointed with the climbing and maneuvering mechanics in this game. I had a feeling that something was off when I couldn't even do the "aim your gun and roll onto a lower ledge" thing from GTA IV. In this game, if my character model senses a drop of 5 ft or so, she freaks out and goes into a helpless freefall. It's quite annoying.

I guess I made this thread to see if anyone honestly gave it a try at least..

Parkour races would be great fun.

No checkpoints, though. Just a start and a finish, leave people up to their own devices to find the most creative shortcuts to get there first.

As bad as the mechanics are, SP is a million times worse...

freerunning at solomon richard's studios just like AC II because renaissance themed buildings . this also useful if PVP are set in that area

You'd be surprised the place you actually can freeclimb onto. I found a spot that looked unreachable on the roof of a parking lot just yesterday that actually was. Pretty surprising that something as basic as a running ledge/wall grab was not even thought of for this. Imagine the rooftop chases that could've happened.

Oh Rockstar, sometimes you disappoint me so.

Yes I do this aswell, to bad that you can't really "Freeclimb" ,just jump up, or climb up ladders

and you can't really "Freerun", because you can't do any tricks in mid-air like Backflips and stuff.

Actually I know a parcours.. of parkour lol

On the houses next to the beach, you can almost parkour them all in one 'track'.
It's really tricky to do it without falling down the roof, but at least if you fall you don't die.

I tried to make it a GTA race with bmx where you had to leave the bmx and climb, putting checkpoints on the roof, but that's impossible to valid as you need to reach the checkpoints with the bmx.

I don''t know a lot of places except here and the cinema studio long enough where you can really do parkour like that.
