[TxT] Vigilante Help

ADC1990

Recommended Posts

Trying to do the Vigilante missions at the start of the game and need help. There's a video on youtube of someone doing the Vigilante from the start of the game and after every level the game adds on a generous amount of time (couple to a few minutes) to the next level giving the person plenty of time to get weapons and armour.

For me however it does not. I usually get 40 seconds added on or not much more. This is usually my downfall as I don't have time to get armour or weapons. I also can't get my health up because the fast food places aren't open yet and ammu-nation isn't open yet so unless there's ammo or armour near-by I'm screwed.

So bearing all this in mind I want to know:

- Why am I not getting much time added on?

- Is there another way to get my health up?

Also playing this on PS2 if that means anything. I also have full health from doing the Paramedic missions, have around 600 ammo of a small machine gun and trying to do it on a police motorcycle. I don't want to wait until things open, I want to do it at this point in the game only.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ok so you can have your health recovered by eating in the vending machines there are a few in around the map in LS, now the problem with the time you have added by completing the level is weird maybe it's a PS2 thing but I don't think so. Another thing might be the area where you start the missions. I usually try near the Santa Maria Beach as usually I get on the first level like 3 or 4 minutes plenty of time to start and as I also usually use the bike I can get pretty fast there, keep i mind that sometimes you get more time than others it depends on the distance the suspects are.

PS there is also a way to open up the restaurants by dating a girlfriend early in the game, the date will fail because the only girls are in the locked areas but even so for some reason the restaurants will open.

why do you want to do this in the beginning of the game?Los Santos missions is still easy even you don't have maxed health and armor you know I used to do paramedic when I finally in angel pine and then lastly i do for vigilante after finishing learning to fly,i stole a tank in area 69 I saved the tank in the aircraft garage(The big garage crossing your safehouse in there)and I pressed f4 in front of the garage finally have mad fun hahahahah I know this is a cheat but if you don't want to do this try to use cop car instead there's a video on youtube

As a downer, I don't believe that the extra 50% value added to the Body Armour is worth the trouble.

Zoom-Zoom did a lot of videos on the game and makes it look so easy.

vigilante 1 part

vigilante 2 part.

For early money I do the Firefighting missions. and Burglary,

Spend some time exploring (or use the Weapons Guide, 2012 which contains spoilers).

The only real way I can suggest is to stock up on minigun rounds from Area 69, Roca Escalante, and Rockshore East. Just don't get too close to the threats (to avoid getting your vehicle or CJ shot) because the minigun makes quick work of vehicles at long range. This way, health and time isn't influential

Ye i tried vigilante at begin too ( even with paramedic and all tags ) but its still insanely hard since i dont know bribes location. Minigun seems best but isnt reachable at begin right ( or u have to go thru alot of trouble ). If no minigun i would farm 4k smg ammo ( mp5 ) and try obtain some asault rifle ammo, then use cop bike but its still hard.

By the time the mini-gun is easily available you might as well steal the Rhino. And then run up a couple of million dollars too.

- Efficient route for collecting common ammo. 2000 rounds for an SMG is enough if you are very efficient. 2500 would be safer. Any more than 3000 is likely to be wasted.

The time added at the start of each round appears to be based on the shortest NPC path to the targets (this is an observation/speculation - I haven't examined the scripts that perform this function). The Badlands north of Los Santos have very large blocks with few paths between points so frequently large time bonuses will be granted. Sometimes you can cut across a field and save lots of time. If you don't mind tacking on a few extra mission attempts, a stat hardly worth bothering about, then restart a few times until you get good bonus to start things off.

Other advantages of Vigilante in the Badlands is the lack of Police Triggers that shoot cop cars across your path out of nowhere, no random bike cops shooting you from behind, and relatively few locations that spawn roadblocks when CJ has more than 2 stars. It can be hard to keep them from escaping back into the city, so learn key locations of Bribes, Armor, and "health" in all areas.

PS2 players can gain health from any of the 3 Hotdog Trucks that spawn near Dillimore and Blueberry. Entering an Ambulance (Montgomery) will give a decent health boost. In the cities you can gain a fairly large health bonus from Vending Stands - Chili-dogs in LS, but also Noodles or Cherry Poppers in the other areas.

Don't get discouraged. I consider myself to be very good at this mission, but when I'm out of practice there's a reasonably good chance that I'll need to take a few shots at it. This challenge is on par with collecting mini-gun ammo or failing a date in restricted territory. Figure you've artificially bumped the difficulty level up two notches. Your actions need to be planned, deliberate, and always under control.

But above all, this needs to be fun. If you feel frustrated then try something else for a while. It's very important to keep a good attitude.

Pro Tip: DO NOT go anywhere near the level 10 thru 12 targets without full health and armor.

Thanks, i might try it later on but i think i use the glitched way (thru interior ). It aint that hard reach lvl8 till 10 with 15minutes time on clock so then its just get last 2 till 4 levels legit ( cant be that hard ). I still dunno how it exactly work but it even works thru ammunation ( so not only food shops ).

You may already know this; but TEC-9, MAC-10 and MP5 all use the same ammo. MP5 deals more damage, but because all three use the same ammo you can pick up any machine pistol you find. Just pick up a MP5 as the last gun before you start the mission. (The "SMG" is a MP5.)

This is for getting a Minigun, but it's not easy and you don't need it.

You don't need a Minigun, but the construction site at Rockshore East is my preferred place to get it. There's a big glass wall and the police helicopters often end up on the other side where they can't shoot CJ. If the chopper is on the same side as CJ, it can be taken down with 1 sniper bullet if you hit it just under the rotor. On PS2 you can also make the helicopters go away if you stand in a corner, but it's hard to find the exact spot if you don't know where it is.

You get 200 rounds for each spawn, so if you wait for six minutes on the scaffolding you get 400 which should be enough. The six minutes can be used doing something productive, like building your gun stats, or environmental duty by keeping polluting helicopters from the skies. Hand Grenades (or Tear Gas) will become useful to take out enemies before you jump down to the ground. Avoid Molotovs because the fire might destroy cars which you can use to get back to the train.

I advice practicing climbing using a "no wanted" cheat.

How to get there: Steal a train, the longer it is the better. It should have at least 3 cars. The best you can get is the Freight with 4 cars. The trains can be driven through the barriers if you have enough speed. Each car adds weight to the train and makes it harder to stop. Build up enough speed, and it will go through the barrier before the game manages to stop it. In my experience it's easier to reverse than drive forward, because the automatic brakes are applied when the locomotive get at a certain point. Someone have also suggested that the train is less likely to derail when the locomotive is on the rear end, but I can't confirm it. You need to drive at maximum speed, but if you maintain maximum speed for too long then you'll derail. So you have to time it so you reach maximum speed not too long before the automatic brakes are applied.

With a short train (2-3 cars), you need to start near Verdant Bluffs to build up speed. With a long train you need to start building up speed at Richman.

Park the train nearby the construction site, it doesn't disappear if you stay on foot. The last two vehicles CJ possessed stays in memory, so it's pretty safe to enter one Enforcer to pick up Armor. With the train waiting for you, you have an indestructible getaway vehicle. If you don't derail it, that is.

What you need for Vigilante is <3000 MP5 ammo. Some Hand Grenades, Desert Eagle (if you've reached "Gangster" level on it), and Sniper Rifle might come handy as well. But be aware that your vehicle will receive 200 health points when you complete a level on foot, and 300 HP if you complete a level while sitting in/on the vehicle. For this reason I only get out of my vehicle if I have to.

The normal health for all vehicles are 1000 Health Points. By doing Vigilante you can get the vehicle HP much higher than that. But it will get restored to 1000 if you park it in a garage, so any extra health above 1000 from Vigilante can't be saved.
