Too much ocean and nothing to do

I've read a couple topics about adding different types of boats for purchase, but what about using them for missions and random jobs? I got to thinking, how about container ships that you can steal shipments with a cargobo for Lester? Drug runners in speed boats that you can hijack for Treavor? Yachts to assault with guarded high-priority targets and/or safes to loot for Martin? They can spawn randomly like the armored trucks, be mission based, or even heists. Would give me a reason to buy a boat, since there's no other purpose other than lame sea races. How cool would it be to assault a Merryweather battleship to steal weapons for Ron and then sink it?

I like these ideas :^:

It'd be cool if R* like added something creepy underwater, like maybe in an update but not say anything about it, like here's 1.12 there's more suits, more suits, some fixes that break other things but they don't mention that thye hid like a sea monster underwater. Me and my friend were exploring the bottom with subs once and thought it'd be cool if every now and then you'd see something huge moving somewhere far from your view. Like how creepy would that be, like some megalodon azz sh*t or some frikkin sea weed monster down there. it'd be cool.

I wouldn't mind a few tankers that drive around the outskirts of the map. Would be pretty cool.

I've recently made a topic about the possibilities scuba diving online would bring, it would pretty much breathe life into the currently dead ocean without needing pretty much anything new, just some copy pasta coding.

Check out the topic here

Sir Michael

Maybe get some friends, jack submarines from the Merryweather docks and just ram each other underwater? Lol, that's all I can think of...

I really want more sea life. Look at just how many animals were in Red Dead. I have only found the submarine once in Online and it has been gone ever since. No sharks, no octupi, no mackerel or swordfish. Nothing. I placed myself on the bottom of the ocean and called muggers on random players hoping they'd try to come find me. Again, nothing.

I ended up opening the hatch and drowning myself out of bordom.

I'm sure many know this, but for those who do not: hold back on the thunbstick while in boats or on jet ski. Like a motorcycle, your propellers catch better and you gain decent speed. Also, right bumper (trigger for PS3?) acts as the E-brake and allows for tight turns with only slight loss of speed.

If someone called a mugger on me, randomly or not, and their blip is out in the middle of the ocean, 10/10 times I am not going to leave whatever it is I am doing. For further explanation: see sharon jones' song: I got better things to do.

See, now why is it we can come up with this stuff and they can't? Seems to me the demand is there, still awaiting a response from R*.

This would be epic!!!! Also a 2 person mini sub for underwater exploration. (I know we already have one but its only a one person sub) or add in scuba gear.

Ooohh yes, the Thermopylae aircraft carrier from Saints Row 3 as someone suggested above. It should have an interior like it did.

Would be nice to see Rockstar add missions in the future that involve deep sea diving or exploration, of course that would entail adding scuba gear online, which they still might do.

The only deep sea diving I have done online is using the mini sub to escape bounties. It would be sweet to see this massive area put to some use.

Lol, I don't think you can land a Lazer on an aircraft carrier similar in design like this since it was dedicated to VTOL fighter jets & troop transport even you can see two runways :whuh:

Until this happened

However, I don't mind a moving aircraft carrier in the game. Same wanted level would apply for trying to breach. Would add more life in single player & online.

I thought the airliner just called Lester, and got a permament Off The Radar mode.......

but back to topic, they should include Crate Drops out in the ocean. It'd at least give boats a reason to purchase a bit.

Unless they move the ocean into the center of LS, it'll be wasted development time for R*, since almost everyone stays in LS most of the time (it's taken 6 months for people to leave the city on a regular basis and go somewhere other than the Sandy Shore airstrip), and sea races are very unpopular.

There are a couple of fun deathmatches that take place either on the sea or near it, though.

There's missions that take you out into it, so it really wouldn't be a waste. If anything the centralizing of everything around downtown is the problem, they need to give people a reason to spread out on the map. What's the point of building a 100 acre sandbox if you're only gonna put 1 jungle gym off in the corner?

There isn't much in the city that isn't elsewhere, except the setting, and things that should take people out of the city - crate drops, bounties in the countryside, gang attacks - rarely do. The only thing that LS does have are safehouses, but you can change clothes in any clothes shop and have any of your cars delivered.

Exactly, so expanding gameplay to cover more of the map would be ideal. Right now I don't see much reason to venture into the ocean if it isn't part of a mission, and there's only 2 I can think of and they stay close to shore. It's wasted space that could be utilized for entertainment value.
