It's crazy how after 6 months I'm still discovering new things

Just the other day I was admiring the beauty of the east coast (which in my opinion is one of the most underrated areas of the game) And I stumbled across this enclosed cave/cove area. I discovered that there were a few hidden collectibles in there, but the real enjoyment I got out of it was sitting in the boat that's located inside there and just staying still for a moment to take in the atmosphere. I don't think I've ever felt so alone and secluded while playing this game. And to think, I could have discovered this if I was trying to find all the collectibles, but instead I happened to just stumble upon it during some exploring.

I know where you are talking about. I discovered it as well when flying my helicopter around just for fun. I didn't sit in the boat but I did fly my helicopter inside...actually didn't crash but it's a cool little area.

After about 5 years I was still finding new things in GTA IV. Just little cool things here and there. I know I haven't seen everything of GTA V's map yet. There are some places I've heard of but actually never came across myself.

That's what I love about Rockstar's open world games. You can literally play them for years and still find something new. Nobody even comes close to what Rockstar can do.

I remember discovering the beautiful east coast. It is the best place on the map, the most secluded feeling too. Here's my story of exploring this place back in October, I found it pretty early:

Back in October, I modified the Benefactor Dubsta pictured above and decided it was best to head to the Mount Gordo trails and do some off-roading. Mount Gordo is quite an underrated mountain, and to me it is just so much more diverse and beautifully executed than Mount Chiliad. It abuts the coast too so that is a definite plus for me.

The trails were very steep and narrow, but my armored and turbocharged Dubsta made it out with no scratches and it actually had a suspension, shockingly, that was suitable for tough terrain. At night I had passed a creepy pond right before I reached the area pictured above. I passed another beautiful pond, which is the first picture. It felt very isolated and dawn-daytime is just jaw droppingly beautiful.

There were loads of photo opportunities but I only captured a few as this trail was quite fun and I was eager to see where it ended. It ended somewhere wooded along the coast, and I had then begun to ignorantly explore this coast via grass and rocks, hoping I would not run into a terrain too unbearable for my SUV. I ran into an area with an intriguing cave too.

I also ran into a few natural rock arches along the coast after passing the cape town and light house. It got foggy and I found a deserted beach at night to stop at. Did not catch any photos but it was very secluded and camp-ish feeling. I ran into another arch when it had begun to rain. I was pissed because I had intended to see it in the daylight, but I got a photo anyways.

The last place I actually took interest in along this wonderful journey were the beautiful and green Palomino Highlands. I'm sure there was quite a lot to see there but I stayed along the coast.

This journey was absolutely lovely and the water was mesmerizing. The beautiful coastline and the landforms that abutted it left a very beautiful imprint in my mind that I will never forget. One thing I praise Rockstar on is their wonderful ability to create such a lovely area. This area was needed to me because everywhere else felt so un-secluded and way too popular and overrated. This area felt relaxing, quiet. It was far from those annoying police sirens, NPC's, and mediocre drivers. It is a place of serenity.

The east coast is the best place on the map. In my opinion. :)

I'm still finding things in not only V, but IV.

Damn straight! Other day I found out there was random enterable banks scattered across LS and BC, along with a secluded airport interior located towards the right side of the runway next to a hangar.

Ya, the game has major detail. I beat the story 6 times, and completed the game100%twice, and I'm still discovering new things ever time I play. The graphics are f*ckin awesome, I take in the scenery every time I play.

I just found this area today. It's so weird when I still discover new places in the game and it makes me appreciate the map even more.

Just a minute ago I was watching a lady chase after her dog in Mirror Park. For some reason I never really took my time to look around the area and it just felt new to me.

The map is really blowing my mind right now. Especially that cave area, because it was a full moon when I got there so it looked amazing.

Another extremely under-rated area is actually underwater, i've been exploring the sea since the game came out (100% complete, story finished). And just the other day i found a shipwreck that i must've swam past about 40 times and just never saw it. I have a feeling rockstar put an underwater cave somewhere....

yeah, it would be very strange that they added a submarine only for a mission and for some "olololo"-experience

there must be something cool to discover.

I think it would be a nice idea to get like 4-5 or even more people together who systematically search for the whole underwater on the map... it would take quite a while tho. but we can just "plan" our routes and then everyone can mind his own business while listening to his music. maybe, someone will find something new.

6 months? I still discover new things about IV even after almost 6 years. I'm sure there'll be things about V discovered a few years down the track.

Venturing along the east coast now, I must admit it's one of the most tranquil beautiful areas in whole of Southern San Andreas.

Indeed. It wowed me when I set out to explore it back in October. I didn't know what I'd be in for. I was supposed to just discover where the Mount Gordo trail ended but I kept heading south along the coast miles after the trail had ended. There is just something about the east coast that makes it feel much better in comparison to anywhere else on the map.

Exactly. I was going on foot (later on a bicycle) along the shore line, it was pretty mesmerizing. Started all the way down in the oil fields area (an interesting area in and of itself), walked a good 15-20 minutes and had a look at the map, just to see I wasn't even passed the Palomino Highlands yet. A bit later on I also found a random dead guy up against a tree, not sure what that was about. Overall pretty satisfying hike.

I'm still finding a lot of things that I have never seen before.

ATM I am in a submarine as Trev. Never seen so many crashed/sunken planes. I wonder how many there are!

Having played V since September I've seen quite a lot. Now all there's to do is the final Triathalon to do before basking in 100% glory. Time to take in the sights South SA has to offer and take some photos.

Sometimes I just like to cruise the countryside and take in the views - especially the east coast which to me is the best place in GTA V and very underrated

Everyday, I notice things I have never noticed before.

Seeing all this stuff just really pisses me off. It just really hits home the pain of knowing that Rockstar could have made so much more use of such a wonderful looking map that would greatly bettered the game. What a wasted opportunity.

Yeah, for me it's always been about the little details. The rusty bucket out the back of the old shed, the graffiti on some mettle cladding etc.

How do you guys manage to roam without being attacked by mountain lions? I wanted to have a look at the coast but kept getting eaten so gave up. Fail.

Where is the dead guy leaning against a tree? that sounds interesting.

I normally hear the Lion's roar before it strikes. More than enough time to put Simba down for good.

I've 100% SP and play Online almost every day and while I'm sure I know the map completely now, it wasn't long ago when I was discovering new things. I go up Mt.Chiliad in my Sandking every 3 days in real life, it's how much I love the Sandking and Mt.Chiliad is just perfect. I decided to take another route down and find this lone tree:

2rpa3if.jpg

I was looking at another topic minutes ago and some guy says there's 3 caves in the game he found (Coveted, the one that you mentioned, the one near Altruist camp isn't mentioned but I know that one and some closed-off shaft mine thing and another one I had no clue about). That cave I had no clue about is on the top of my places to go when I go online. I know the place and pass there many times but never saw it.
