I know I already posted but I woke up and thought about this thread and I seriously would love something like this. Any real job but made fun, not like "wake up at 6, go work, take a 15 minute break, get yelled at by the boss, work until 5, go home, get vomit on you by a baby" type of thing. Nah, I want to head somewhere, hope in a designated vehicle (somehow not blown up by everyone in the lobby) and do my thing. I need to watch out for other players because it's a rough city, but I'd get the job done.

I am also surprised that the vigilante missions and taxi driving have been removed from GTA Online. GTA: SA also had the option of being a truck driver and delivering trailers.

I wonder if these will be tied to owning businesses (if and when that becomes available)?

I liked the flying delivery missions that you did with Trevor in the SP - would be good if you could buy an airfield / hanger online and then do these missions to earn extra money.

I like the idea from someone about helicopter VIP transport missions too.

All of these would also make vehicle ownership more interesting - owning a certain type of vehicle could open up different jobs - owning a van would enable small delivery jobs, while owning a semi truck would enable you to deliver trailers and containers.

The functionality for all of these already exists - it would just need to be structured/packaged.

Once the mission creator is released, there would be nothing stopping creating these types of missions I would have thought - all they are is 'take A to B' type missions.

On a slightly separate note, I would love to see assassination missions online. These could be done as single player (finding a specific NPC character within a certain area on the map after having been sent an image/clues) or as a MP mission type - like the old VIP missions in GTA 4. One player is the VIP, the rest of his team has to protect him, while the opposing team has to take him out. Obviously without being able to clearly see them on radar - but maybe just their rough location.

Thoughts?

To the people saying that you can't have these jobs in grand theft auto, have you never played the other games? As far as I know, there have been legal jobs in every game until gtao. I love the idea. There is not enough to do in free mode.

I would like:

-be a cop, get paid to take out people with stars.

-be a medic, get paid to heal injured players.

-be a newschaser, get paid to follow people with stars in a car or chopper.

-be a merc, get paid to defend objects or places that other people have been paid to attack - and reverse.

-be a delivery driver, get paid to bring booze, items and contraband around SA.

-be a mechanic, get paid to repair people's vehicles when not in LSC.

Legit jobs kinda defeats the whole point of GTA, but talking of irony, I'm pretty sure GTA doesn't let us sell expensive cars we've stolen now does it?

I would love to see the return vigilante, ambulance, firetruck missions. And everything OP mentioned would be cool too.

Jobs like lawyer or store clerk or stupid sh*t obviously no. Jobs that have basic mission objectives like cops, mercs, deliveries, trucker, cabie, escort, security...sure. To the people saying they don't belong in GTA the history of the franchise would suggest otherwise.

To the OP...I firmly believe that most if not all things we can do in SP will eventually be brought to Online plus some new things.

bring back taxi, ambulance, vigilante and fire missions....

I miss all the old side missions. Some good ones have been listed already, and the only one I see any issue with is the tow truck (what with freezing consoles and all).

Police - Pick up a car and a uniform at the precinct of your choice and protect your jurisdiction from crime (PC and NPC). Works like old vigilante missions for NPCs, but any PC with a wanted level inside your jurisdiction would become a target as well. Once a PC has a wanted level of **, the jurisdiction he is in and those that surround it are alerted. The *** opens that range up more, and **** and ***** are fair game to any law enforcement. RP and $ rewards depend on criminal's level, the wanted level they have, and length of time they have evaded capture.

Delivery - A variety of vehicles could open this up, maybe specific paint jobs such as the weed van, for a chance to earn some "easy" money. Anything from pizza in a Blista, TVs in a box truck, and the like. Depending on cargo, a timer let's you know how long you have to get there and NPCs (or PCs?) may take aggressive interest in your cargo trying to steal it for themselves. Low risk, low reward. High risk, better reward.

Drug Car - A carload of drugs has been paid for and left for pickup. Jack it, fight off the rightful owners and deliver it to a lockup for Gerald. Car is either a POS with some resistance and a bit of $ and RP, or a sports car or high end SUV with a small army after it and its worth more $ and RP. Either way, LSC won't touch it.

Driver/Pilot - Get paid for delivering people to destinations in a number of vehicles. Limos, taxis, heli tours, Luxor flights, busses and boat tours - so much play with little added coding. Cash and RP are minimal, but its something to do while you explore and learn the world.

Assassination - I would love to see stealth be usable in assassinations, but the freedom to approach them from multiple angles would increase replay value. Different targets at different locations with varying security details would help too, and it would allow for varying payouts as well. I like the idea of a high price target being announced and watching the whole lobby fight each other to kill him.

I'll add more, but work calls.

ShinobiFixer

I would love to drive a taxi and roleplay as Deniro in Taxi Driver.

Or how about being a gardener or a pool man.

San Andreas has all these pools, but who the hell is cleaning them???

This would only be possible in invite only. Think about it. Towing a car would be impossible if someone is in a tank or faster than you plants a stickie on the car being towed. Invite only or solo would be the only way

Pre release I would've disagreed and said it wouldn't fit the game, but honestly Anything at all to do would be a welcome addition to the desolate wasteland that is gta online free roam.

Make it worth more than Simeon pays and I'd go for it! :D If I knew Simeon was going to pay someone else to try to stop me, I'd totally go for it!

Most of us have millions. This would have been cute in the beginning, but you think I'm gonna flip burgers for crap pay now? Let me drive to my Burger Shot job in my Entity. Nah.

Why do so many people on this forum assume everyone is loaded? I've been playing 2 to 3 times a week since the game released and I've only got about $38K right now. Sure, I've got the big apartment with 10 car garage, and the fully modded cars, but I'm pretty much cash poor. Maybe it's because I don't spend my days grinding RR and then blasting everything that moves in free roam; Instead I play a variety of modes and try to enjoy the game instead of the grind.

OT, on would like some real free roam jobs. Anything to create a real PvP experience instead of the random drive by. Right now all of the free roam fights are just random. No one ever fights for a Simeon car, a crate, or an armored truck. Those things spawn someone grabs them and then they're gone before other players get there.
