BlueScreen
What are your favourite offroaders, and why? If it's for stability, then the Canis Seminole is probably the best around. It takes a tank to roll that thing over, you can land sideways from a big jump and it's still fine. It's also got a decent ground clearance so you won't get stuck, and looks quite good as an off-road SUV. Sadly, it lacks power for climbing and can't go further than small, not very steep hills. Then the Canis Mesa can climb hills fairly well, but it gets rolled over very easily, due to its narrow and tall shape. Lowering it can make it a lot more stable, but you get very poor ground clearance which means you'll get stuck easily. The Dubsta is very powerful and stable, but it's ground clearance is absolute rubbish. I tried it out on Mt. Chiliad and it got stuck in no time. Plus, it looks really awkward in off-road rims and tyres, even with off-road oriented modifications, due to its low ride. The Baller, while it has a decent height, lacks power and looks really, really out of place away from the big city and luxury apartments. It gets even worse when you fit off-road wheels on it. So I think the best off-road car would be the Patriot. It's quite stable, very powerful, and has a very high ground clearance, so it's good for climbing hills, rock crawling, and pure speed. It's also quite good looking in off-road tyres, which in most SUVs look quite awkward. Another good off-roader is the BeeJay, which is a very good climber thanks to its powerful engine and relatively lightweight body, though I found the Patriot a lot more stable at the same speed, and more resilient to damage. The Rebel is also very good, but its tall suspension and narrow body makes it easy to roll over. Apart from that, unless you can get the clean one (which is very rare in online) it's really ugly and totally out of place in your supercar-filled garage in Vinewood Hills. The SandKing has the highest ride of any land vehicle in the game, which means you won't ever get stuck. Its engine also boasts with power. You would think it's the perfect off-roader, and it is great, as it name states, for the sand. Things change, however, when you take it to the rocky hills. It's got rear wheel drive instead of four wheel drive, so all the power is wasted and it's totally useless for climbing hills. And its massive height means it will roll over even going in a straight line. If you want to use it so badly just for the awesome looks, at least you should go with the SWB version, as its shorter wheel base means it will get over the top of hills quicker and with less risk of hitting the floor of the truck. The same sort of thing happens with the BF Injection, it's very good in the flat sand but its rear wheel drive means very poor climbing. I'm not sure if off-road tyres actually do anything, but they sure look cool. Going into Mt. Chiliad with huge chrome rims and slim tyres makes no sense at all. Vigilant_Veggie
Sandking has 4x4, that was patched a loooooooooong time ago. Average white guy
The Canis Bodhi, best off-roader IMO. It has perfect ground clearance, excellent traction and lots of power. Cutter De Blanc
The Canis Kalahari is one of the best offroaders in the game. It's very ugly, so often neglected, but it has the speed and the four wheel drive, plus it's lightweight, and therefore easier to control in the air than something like a Sandking. BlueScreen
The sports cars are the best cars to off road in, oddly. The sport utility vehicles cannot climb for some reason. Actually I found the FQ2 surprisingly good. The Baller, Dubsta and Mesa are also quite decent. Sports cars have lots of power but they get damaged and stuck easily and they look really really odd. Also they're expensive. The Patriot does very well too. It's got nice power and a ridiculous amount of torque (Which means you can do a very very steep hill start even with no engine/transmission mods, and still climb all the way), and it's quite heavy which is good when you want to stick to the ground instead of jumping like crazy (Really, if I wanted to do that I'd just use a Sanchez). Anyway... GTA logic. Again. Sandking has 4x4, that was patched a loooooooooong time ago. And to answer your question, rebel and sandking are the two best Oh look. I haven't actually driven a SandKing for ages. Still, I tried it recently and while it's now very good at climbing, it's still pretty much a ball due to its ridiculously high centre of gravity. Also, you can't get out of your garage without scratching the paint from the roof because it's so tall. The rebel is really good, I've used it for a while. The FQ2 is great as well, I forgot to mention it in the original post. The Canis Kalahari is one of the best offroaders in the game. It's very ugly, so often neglected, but it has the speed and the four wheel drive, plus it's lightweight, and therefore easier to control in the air than something like a Sandking. Yeah, it's very light and quite fast for an offroader, but the ground clearance isn't good and... God, it's hideous. The Canis Bodhi, best off-roader IMO. It has perfect ground clearance, excellent traction and lots of power. It's really good, but I seem to need something a bit taller as I've had some issues with rocks that the Rebel and Patriot don't seem to face. Lol. The power of that thing is amazing though. ------------------------------ Opposed to most people, I actually prefer a heavier vehicle for off-roading as I don't want to jump around everywhere. If I did want to jump all over the place, then the best offroader with no doubt would be the Sanchez. We should have a huge off-road truck, like a 6-wheeler version of the Duneloader. Cutter De Blanc
For a heavier offroader I like the Bobcat XL, mainly cuz I like the look. I have to fully mod it, and stick a Sports suspension on it, or it's a complete f*cking bus though. Lethal Vaccine
Bifta and BF-Injection BF-Injection is a classic vehicle dating back from GTA III, as well. Bifta, believe it or not, is the fastest vehicle in the Off-Road class. The Sanchez will beat it, if you count the Sanchez an Off-Road vehicle, even though it's classification is obviously motorcycles... Gnocchi Flip Flops
I'll attempt to be reasonable this time: The Benefactor Dubsta and Canis Seminole are arguably the best vehicles for off-road use. I took a tuned Dubsta to Mount Gordo and off-roaded all of the way down to the Palomino Highlands along the coast. The Seminole was the utility vehicle I used to climb Chiliad and then Ranton Canyon and it didn't even need to be tuned. But still, the majority of the utility lineup is abysmal within V when it comes to climbing up steep hills and rocks. Most of you all know Range Rover, they make some of the most capable sport utility vehicles around. Yet the Baller v2 is completely useless on rough terrain. I tried to climb some steep trails near Paleto and this thing was so unprepared for such terrain that it flipped and got all banged up. It is almost embarrassing how terrible most of the utility vehicles in V are. The Serrano, for example, was a mindblowingly capable off-roader in IV but in V it is useless. Such a shame, really how could Rockstar f*ck it up this bad? Maybe it is due to the fact that no car has a suspension system in V. What were they thinking? Oy mates, herr derr letz remove suspenzions cuz it makes the cars less boaty. *downs his tenth shot of whiskey* namor 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/694807-best-off-road-vehicles/#findComment-1065066183 Share on other sites
AZAZEL
The moment when you first jumped in a Sandking, and steered it towards a mountain, imagining the great times you had with the monster trucks in SA, only to have it faff about with its stupid rear wheel propelled drive train, hardly packing enough oompf and grace to climb out of the f*cking ditch you just crashed into. Yeah. It's 4wd now, but you can still roll it over by poking it with a finger. Also, it's so ridiculously tall, the roof gets f*cked up when you get out of your garage in online. We get, then, that the SandKing is only good for killing people in convertibles. The Benefactor Dubsta and Canis Seminole are arguably the best vehicles for off-road use. The Seminole was the utility vehicle I used to climb Chiliad and then Ranton Canyon and it didn't even need to be tuned. Yes, they either did remove it or made all of the suspensions extremely stiff. I wouldn't bother me if it didn't limit the capabilities of the vehicles. Without a suspension, the a car bascially bounces around, shivers when driving, can't climb over small imperfections such as sidewalks, and basically just makes the cars drive awfully weird. The fact that most SUVs can't do sh*t is quite realistic though, to be honest. Most modern SUVs get stuck easily on rough terrains. What is stupid though, is the fact that the Baller can't climb when Range Rovers are some of the best off-road cars. Another ridiculous thing, the Turismo R's nose is so low and long it hits the floor when getting out of the LSC in Vinewood Hills.
