[...]
What if R* will choose Chicago as location for next GTA? I think Chicago-based GTA would be some influences from "The Chicago Code". This TV show may be great inspiration for creating some minor characters (especially characters working for [insert Chicago-based city's name here] Police Departament).* *phoenixShine aka Captain Obvious! Rainbow Party
eh... idk, I remember that old hoax of GTA: Chicago that was cool and I hope that didn't spoil it for Rockstar. But either way, Chicago isn't terribly different to Liberty City, as opposed to Miami, San Francisco, LA and Vegas. Some people argue that's the reason we don't see a GTA in Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, etc. either. But if it takes place in Chicago it could have some interesting stories with the gangs like the People Nation and the Folks Nation from real life. I've never been to Chicago but judging from Midtown Madness 1 it's kind of a boring looking city. Edited March 19, 2014 by Rainbow Party

Zello
As long as the main character is Chief keef Imagine the gameplay bang bang... On a serious note Chicago would be a good game as long as it has a dark storyline DJ Arrt
NYC PATROL
Thing is, would R* attempt to do Chicago even though Watch Dogs has done it? But I guess by the time VI releases WD will be like 4+ years old. Edited March 20, 2014 by NYC PATROL
Tempahrelapse
As long as the main character is Chief keef Imagine the gameplay bang bang... On a serious note Chicago would be a good game as long as it has a dark storyline If there was Chief Keef I'd be quite upset. Rainbow Party makes a good point in Chicago being similar to Liberty City. The only difference is that there is no high-rises. Not a 100% sure on that. But coming back to Zello it could bring something unique to the table if it didn't copy Liberty Cities atmosphere of being dark but instead had an atmosphere of being more melancholic or hopeless. As for the Chicago Code reference, I barely made it through one episode.

Not a 100% sure on that. Actually, Chicago has plenty of skyscrapers. It's arguably one of the greatest and most recognizable skylines on Earth. There's many more outside of this picture. [...]
As long as the main character is Chief keef [["Make It Count"]] Imagine the gameplay bang bang... On a serious note Chicago would be a good game as long as it has a dark storyline Chief Keef should be in GTA [insert Chicago-based city's name here]'s soundtrack. Also Fredo Santana would be good. Or Kanye West. In Chicago-based GTA taxis might look like Chicago Carriage Cab's ones. Edited March 20, 2014 by phoenixShine
DoubleOGJohnson
Rockstar missed the Chicago hype-train, Chicago is in the national media NOW because of Chief Keef, Watch Dogs, youth gang violence, the last Transformers, Batman and Superman being filmed there, Chicago themed shows like Chicago Fire and Chicago PD etc. Plus CNN is doing a special series on Chicago right now called Chicagoland. For those of yall not from the US who don't know nothing about the USA, Chicago is one of the hottest cities in media. But that's NOW, by the time GTA 6 come out national media might be focusing on another city by that time. By 2017/18 gang violence might be down, Chief Keef might not even back rapping, there might not be a lot of Chicago themed, there might not be superhero movies filmed in Chicago etc. Everybody else in the media jumped on the "Chicago" train, but Rockstar missed it by being too lazy, remaking old cities, and trying to cash out on the popularity of "San Andreas'" by going back to Los Santos. But where is the foresight and the vision? Sometimes I question Rockstar's vision, you barely see anything about Los Angeles in national media in 2013/2014. They made GTA V at a time that crime was at a low in LA. Why aren't Rockstar researching cities more and paying attention to national trends? Everybody else in mass media has a Chicago themed show, event, or game EXCEPT for Rockstar because they f*cking pay attention to current events in the US. They need to start paying more attention to what's going on in America at the current moment instead of just blindly making cities. Pick places relevant at the time. They need to start paying more attention to what's going on in America at the current moment instead of just blindly making cities. Pick places relevant at the time. That's because Rockstar, for good or ill, doesn't exactly like to follow trends. They made a '90s LA gangsta-themed game in 2004, long after gangsta rap was dead and buried right between Biggie and Tupac. They made a game about a veteran of the Yugoslav wars coming to America in 2008, long after the Balkans had picked up the pieces and the former Yugoslavia stopped dominating the news cycle. They made a game about an outlaw biker gang in 2009, before Sons of Anarchy really took off. They made an homage to Scarface and Miami Vice in 2002, before '80s nostalgia really became a thing. They made a licensed adaptation of The Warriors, a cult '70s action movie that a lot of people had forgotten, in 2005. If Rockstar paid any attention to trends, there would've been a GTA game set in Atlanta by now, with a soundtrack loaded with the biggest names in crunk and "Dirty South" hip-hop. If anything, the fact that Chicago is hot right now is a good argument for why Rockstar wouldn't set the next game there. Zello
Hodgey.
Chicago could be a good location. If they did set it in Chicago I'd guess that it would be more of a city setting than countryside.
