My current score for GTA V is 7.5/10. Even in this case, it would stay that way.

It's tough to rate GTA V because it's a disappointment compared to the levels Rockstar was hyping it at, but it's still better than most games out there.

GTA V: Story (7/10) / Missions (8/10)

GTA IV: Story (9/10) / Missions (6/10)

San Andreas: Story (8/10) / Missions (8/10)

I see why you would want to exclude the graphics:

1. People dismissing older games because they dont look as good

2. People preferring the nostalgic graphics of older games

To be honest, GTA V is overall better than Vice City and GTA III but relative to their respective release dates, GTA V didn't nearly make the splash it's predecessors did.

A 10/10 regardless, no other GTA has the same level of variety and diversity in the missions.

4/10 as it's one of the poorest stories with unispired characters. It was really a drag going through that game in terms of storyline.

Quite a few chunks of the story felt more time consuming than enjoyable to be blunt.

10/10 for me too, with the past games not far behind.

Every GTA just gets better and better as far as I'm concerned, regardless of graphics. Gameplay is my number one priority when it comes to GTA, and R* continue to deliver. While I still love every previous title, I don't allow myself to get hung-up on every last goddam freakin' little feature of the respective games, and welcome new elements. It's also worth mentioning that V is probably the most innovative addition in the series post-III.

I respect your opinion but, and a few others pointed this out the other day, what is so innovative about V besides the multi-character system, which was built on the foundation that was IV with it's three characters tied into one story?

I consider it innovative just to put gameplay before story in games these days, it's a shame things have gotten so bad for me to think that way.

Probably 8/10.

It doesn't make sense. V would be rated the same. Improving the graphics and physics in older GTA's wouldn't have any effect on V, it would only make those games better.

I don't rate V in comparison to other GTAs. I rate it for what it is.

I really don't know what is up with you and the storyline. Many of you imply that IV was more storyline than gameplay, yet from my perspective that isn't really true. I mean I'm still playing IV and most of my time spent playing it wasn't story related so they must have done something right.

What if I told you.....that a GTA game with a SH*T, BORING story and LACK of great features, and just about above average gameplay amounts to quite a big letdown ?

This was put to me before, but because I don't really visit this forum much these days I never got round to addressing it. But I'll do so now.

Firstly: I get the impression that some people here take the multi-protag/character-switch feature completely for granted, and are unable to comprehend just how difficult such a complex and complicated implementation must have been to programme on a game of this scale for platforms of last.

Secondly: using spin-off DLC games as a way to discredit what was done in V in regards to this particular feature in terms of innovation, is a pretty redundant argument frankly. Yes, one could say IV and its episodes paved the idea for this new direction, but they were three separate games with one playable character. V completely changed the way we play GTA. Name me one feature from IV + Episodes that revamped gameplay to the degree V did.

I wasn't implying that GTA IV was once of those games that sacrifised gameplay for story but I was worried that the series was going to head down that path and join Mass Effect and Metal Gear, my statement was about the gaming industry in general. I'm not sure if you know, but despite my disappointments with GTA IV, I still completed 3 times because it was great in it's own right.

What if I told you that is your own sh*tty opinion and to stop shoving it down people's throats.

That's funny. I do the exact same thing as you do, except that I was expressing a different view to yours. But yet, you accuse me of forcing my opinions on other people, which I did not do in the first place ? How strange.

Lol'd hard @ the bolded. Any unbiased human can see that there is literally nothing innovative about V's SP besides the character switching.

I challenge you name V's new innovative features , because i fail to see anything "new & exciting" as promised by R*.

And this is not opinion, this is a fact.

Exactly. Despite my disappointed feelings about GTA V that may make me appear biased, I truthfully just don't see how the game was very innovative in any major way.

2nd, SA is first because it had a great map, and awesome cars.

although i agree with your ranking, those reasons are horrible.

I see your reading skills are just as flawed as Official General's. And I also see that neither of you chose to answer the question in my last post prior to this one. Interesting.

And this is not opinion, this is a fact.

Christ, why am I even wasting my time with you pair...SMFH...

Ok, I'm going to quote myself as nobody appears to actually want to address my reasoning, but instead choose to just question it without any form of insightful rebuttal:

Now, let's have something other than a 'I'm right - you're wrong' type of response...
