it does seem lately that racing is getting more and more pointless, they always seem to be supercars only and, when you pass one of the racers or they get close to you they always try to pit you?

today i was in the long haul 2 (i wasn't the host), and as always we where using supercars, and i kept getting a racer who pitted me twice, after tht he tried about two or three more times but failed, in one of his attempts i pitted him (sorry) i wa pissed, i finished the race in 2nd (out of 8, we did have 10 but 2 quit.

I don't think they are, but if you like to race, then you are probably going to find that joining a crew dedicated to racing will improve your experience.

Meh, it's still probably my favorite thing to do in this game if you can get in a decent lobby. Also has anyone noticed the race payouts bieng much lower? I haven't played for a few days so this may not be new.

Races? what are races?

Races are Rockstar's dirty sick trolling buttf*ck to the players who want to upgrade their cars. Races are so un-fun that there can be no other reason that they are in the game except for Rockstar's amusement in watching us suffer for our performance unlocks.

I agree. I've done some racing with randoms lately and all races, ALL of them, were supercars only, catch-up on (why?) and slipstream on. Host always win if it was custom race. Also, custom races: complete sh*t. I did this one where checkpoints were placed on the bumpiest beach ever. In supercars.

It's a two-face thing. You want to keep it fair by picking no custom cars so everyone has a chance as not everyone can spend half a million on a car. Then again, you also want to use your car you spent so much money on. I don't own a supercar and have always came in 3rd (all of the races I've done) with a stock car. Makes me laugh when actual custom cars are left in my dust. I'm not bragging, not at all, I just find it funny how people can spend money on stuff and not bother to practice with it. If I spent so much money on something, I would learn when to brake, how it takes turns, etc.

Catch-up is cool for an exciting race but it's real bullsh*t when actually racing. You can feel your car lose like 50HP when in front. If you're going to put catch-up on, at least take slipstream off to even the field. Racing in this game is a bit weird. I seriously want GTA IV racing back. No slipstream, no catch-up (if I remember correctly). I always went with the Comet. Not the fastest but took turns better than any car, would pass the big pile-up on the first turn and keep a steady first. Good times.

Racing in GTA V is sh*t, it really is. Mostly because of the stupidity of hosts as well as the other racers. Whenever someone passes me, I give a honk to say "I'm friendly and won't pit you", most times they just fly by. Never got a honk back. But if I pass someone, oh, better pit me to make sure you're a better racer. It's seriously dumb.

I like racing on my sandking only track, watch everyone fly past me on custom bikes and biftas? (The beach bum update free beach buggy) They all crash into the trees before the check point, I drive past them, they catch up and over take me, only to crash into a narrow bridge. After I have over taken them again, the bikes usually get to the 1st river crossing and fall off until they rage quit. A few miles later in the swamps and the biftas do the same thing. If not in the swamps, it's deffo on the next river crossing... Other players are simply too stupid to race.

PM me your psn Id. I will be online within the hour to prove you wrong.

I wouldn't say it is completely pointless, more really annoying and boring. Generally i join a random race and its supercars, catchup, traffic and slipstream on which for one lap around the prison is just utterly stupid. You come first you get like £600. I can get more driving round the map robbing stores.

When i host i turn everything off so its stock cars only and no catchup for, hopefully, a more even race. And i almost never use supercars if there is another option. I think hosts should be able to force a specific vehicle on all players. I would love a race with 16 sandkings.

I think it sucks that you can only race one class at a time. Id like to see Batis goin up againts super cars or sport cars. There should be an open race option.

No more pointless than making yet another thread on the subject. None of this has changed since day 1.

Me and my cousin raced this a$$ Hat who made this custom race off road, night, raining, in sport classics, to a stupid lighthouse.

He always Won.

It's a crap shoot. Not very fun indeed, and since the payouts are minimal it's pretty much a joke. NO fun, no money.

If you are in the first row on the starting line, you're basically f*cked because everyone comes right up to you and you get PIT out of the pack.

Whenever I'm racing, I always sandbag the first couple checkpoints, there's no point in trying to race before the big crash.

I'll tell you the problem.

So lets say you want to race a certain way. It means you are picky, but I understand as I'm picky too (no catch-up for instance). So you respond by joining a random race, which means most players are selecting jumps jumps jumps, long haul, the general stupid races. So maybe you host and since you have a good race, nobody shows. So you don't come to the forum and join any of the serious racers on here that play Playlists etc. Why? Of course because you don't want to lose! You want to show off by racing random idiots all the time so you can pretend that pretty race record of yours was deserved. Congratulations because nobody cares, except for you because you're having an awful experience.

So let me reword. If you are bored and hate racing then you obviously are either not trying hard enough or are to scared to race any of the serious racers and yes, if I raced idiots all day collecting wins I would be bored out of my mind of pitting and cheaters. That last part is from experience BTW.

So! To conclude, there are plenty of people on this forum and in Crews out there that would like good players to play with. In fact, there is a post in here that says "Trusted Clean Racers"! You may want to start there.

Cool story bro

Most uncreative, lump boring, predictable, sagging, and outright wet-Keebler response ever. Try to do a little better in future, chum.

As for the races, well, I think you are probably suggesting they are monotonous and repetitive, which they are.

In part because in the Quick Race, it's the same handful of races. If you take the time to learn other tracks and get other players to try them, it's a great experience.

However, how many times can you do The Commute without getting flipped just after that first onramp stretch? Or pitted, mid-air in JumpsJumpsJumps?

For me, it's a bummer to be so far out in front, leading the pack, only to have the same car you just saw explode a moment ago, now slipstreaming past you to win.

Dirty racing makes the experience frustrating and finding clean racers is next to impossible in Quick matches.

Even if you have 20 friends who love to race clean, getting them online is another whole bag of challenges.

In the end, I agree that it's repetitive and slightly boring sometimes. Last night I quit a race, which I hate to do, because I went from first to last (out of 14) because the way the map was designed (user created), I went off a ridge and plummeted down into a ravine. When I respawned, I was in last place and with everyone so far ahead, I was annoyed and just dropped out.

Anyhow, I keep racing because it's essentially why I bought the game. When it's good, it's really fun; when it's not good, it's still (usually!) pretty fun! Cheers! ;)

in quick race yes...

but in general no... theres quite a few racing crews, some of whom are very active on the GTAF and welcome new clean drivers... theres a couple of good ones to choose from that regularly race together and keep the spirit alive.

im a racer, some of you might have noticed... but after hooking up with other clean racers and doing crew vs crew battles with other racing crews its a whole different experience

Finding clean races is next to impossible in public games.

But if you simply refuse to play races with alot of long straights with catch up/slop stream on you wil have less problems. You will run into less problems on tracks with turns or traffic on.

Or... Just join a race crew. Thats easier then having to sift through constant piles of crappy public races.

impromptu races have the potential of resurrecting the race scene in this game if, they get a buff to payouts.

I use a turismo, actually!

And, it's just idiotic to choose a bad car, only to give nobheads a big advantage.

If you want to win everything, you will need the best car and the best skill!

your still flogging that horse then beat?? why does it have to be about payouts, i regularly do impromptu races while waiting for crew mates to join inv lobbies, just for the enjoyment of a real street race "quickest to the end get the props" kind of experience...

but the "race scene" is very much alive and kicking, you just need to know where to look for it...

And as we all know, a Turismo is not mainstream in the slightest. I think it is one of the rarest cars in GTA O(!)
