So far we've had all the DLC content given to us free.

You think the next DLC will continue in this fashion and be the fourth free DLC?

Or you do think Rockstar will charge, seeing as we've had free DLCs up to now.

I have a feeling that sooner or later, we'll have paid DLC.

I've also noticed that there doesn't seem to be a Season Pass (where for one big price, you get all upcoming DLC) for Grand Theft Auto V. These Season Passes seem to be a trend among other games.

Free of charge but in-game, it'll cost money per usual. I don't expect paid DLC soon but who knows, R* is full of surprises

I don't mind paying for DLC they worked on for a while but I'd expect them to release more free DLCs with high priced items so people will keep buying Cards.

If they do eventually expand on their idea to make GTAO a multiple-city game, then I assume any new maps or cities that may be added in the future will be paid DLC... as for the additions of new cars, planes, the hunter and hydra... I think these will remain a grind/cash card situation.

It's obviously free because R* uses cash cards as a "payment" for dlc. If people don't have enough money, either farm missions, or buy cash cards.

It might be a bit difficult to keep DLC/Non DLC users in the same lobbies. I think they'll keep it free.

My prediction:

The first paid for DLC will be the story expansion Rockstar mentioned last year.

Anything, assuming it comes in the same form as before (themed packs) inbetween now and then will be free.

Mandatory compatibility packs.

Or like Mortal Kombat did it. If you download the compatibility pack, you get a free item. MK9 released costumes with their compatibility packs, to encourage players to download them.

Good business model.

This. When the business pack was released a day before the 1.11 patch i downloaded it and tried to join a friend's game and he must not yave had it because the server wouldn't let me in due to a dlc pack mismatch error.

My prediction:

if its a single player DLC it will be paid, but if its online DLC it will be free, but still buy the items from DLC with in game money.

no, that's because you were on 1.11 and they were on 1.10. you couldn't join because you were on different versions of the game. dlc doesn't have to inherently come with a patch or version update, and paid dlc will very likely not adhere to this rule.

buyer gets content, non-buyers don't but can see them and drive them, etc. all play together.

No because 1.11 wasn't out yet. The only difference was i had the business pack and he didn't.

I agree, I believe paid DLC will be strictly SP; while GTA:O DLC will stay free, with new items available to buy with in-game currency.

First pay real cash for some DLC and then you have to pay $1-1 000 000 for the sh*t ingame........NO thanks !

Yes, free like the other DLC that contains a couple of cash cards worth of merchandise for sale. If Rockastar expects us to buy all these new cars, they are going to start having to sell new garages for them as well.

I would pay for story DLC (which will not happen until end of 2014 at the earliest in my opinion) if it has a better story and better characters than the basic GTAV game.

The DLC that has currently been released have been treated as updates rather than expansions. It depends on how the DLC is recognized.

^ This right here^

so far, the DLC that we've had has been patch updates with some free stuff added, basically for convenience..Once they get the bugs worked out, and start releasing "significant" DLC (additional cities and such) they will start selling them as optional DLC... clothes, cars, weapons and misc related merchandise will probably remain free and pushed out with title updates

It might be a bit difficult to keep DLC/Non DLC users in the same lobbies. I think they'll keep it free.

why would they try to keep them in the same lobbies? premium DLC would be treated in the same manner that other game treat it. non DLC users would be paired in lobbies with other non DLC users, while those who bought the DLC would be paired in lobbies with others who own the DLC... To be paired in lobbies with people who don't own the DLC your content would be locked out until they bought DLC... no big mystery, it's happened since the beginning of online multiplayer...

I hope it paid because it might be worth something. Although paid dlc will only mean more "stuff"..cars and weapons etc

Free stuff will be progression - heists, businesses, second homes, ca-f*cking-sino already!!

I think any paid downloadable content would involve really major stuff that isn't exactly essential to your experience. Everything they have given us so far has been stuff that should have been in the game since the beginning. I think up until an update containing the first heists come out, everything will be free. I see a paid DLC as having at least 20-30 playable missions for story mode with heists, and exclusive cars, weapons, clothing for your online character. No way in hell I would have paid for the business update, or the valentines one. There just wasn't enough content.

Should be all free, cash cards should still be there. Let us work for the content in game.

I think free so far as until we get heists, because that is a big part of online that they said would be here, and then after that there will be paid.

MP DLC will be free, SP DLC will be paid.

Yep. I can't see there ever being paid DLC for this game. They encourage you to play with friends or crewmates, so I can't exactly see them releasing something that could cause a split - ie where only some friends paid for content. A lot seem to think North Yankton will only ever come out as a paid DLC, so imagine if some of your friends didn't buy that DLC then you'd never be able to play with them fully ever again. Could then cause people to stop playing the game and they don't want an exodus of people do they!

i dont think we would see a paid dlc til they release the heist...

i have a hunch that the first paid dlc would be the Mission Creator.

Rockstar may be giving up their time for free, but a good thing never lasts long. Expect at least the next Downloadable Content to be priced, if not the next one after that.

Companies WILL take advantage of milking money from a tiny thing...unless Rockstar makes a TLAD or TBoGT like DLC. Those were pure DLCs deserving of payment, so much content added and basically 2 new perspectives.

Cash cards are basically paying for the dlc so we don't have to. Unless we get a major single player dlc I doubt we will ever see paid dlc.

To answer your question, I think that at some point we will DEFINITELY see a paid dlc.
