Baller vs Merryweather Mesa

I like the look of the Mesa but is it better off road than the baller? I own a baller and I'm thinking of getting the Mesa. Thoughts?

I have two merryweather mesas and I can say that the baller is far superior

Clearance goes a long way. I love my MW Mesa and find it to be the second best offroader in the game next to the Sandking.

This thread is going to overflow with contradicting opinions though.

Best offroad vehicle is the entity

No the best vehicle at driving off road is the entity...

The best off road vehicle is Sandking XL, BF injection etc.

There's a difference.

Just my opinion. I've tested the Sandking, Rebel (clean and dirty) and MW Mesa quite thoroughly on different terrain and find the Mesa to have better traction than the Rebel. As for the Baller, it lacks the clearance to get the front bumper over higher obstacles.

Like I said though, just my opinion.

If you consider driving off road as smashing into rocks and flying in the air for a good 10 - 15 seconds every time you reach the summit and in a nut shell, wrecking your car...

Off roading in is about climbing, about driving though deep water, plowing though mud, been able to get over very uneven terrain etc.

All super cars simply use hills as huge ramps where as the sand king becomes one with the terrain.

I had a merry weather mesa for a while. I refused to lower it as I wanted it for off roading but, due to it only been rwd and because it's top heavy, I ended up getting rid.

The Baller, with off road tyres and without lowering is actually OK but the granger is better.

by "one with the terrain", you mean sliding around and rolling off cliffs and smashing into the ground LITERALLY making your car part of the ground?

It is 4wd. I've heard other people say this too but I've never had a problem with the power to the front axle. I agree, it isn't as good as the Sandking.

It's extremely top-heavy though and the wheels deform faster than the Rebel. It's the worst off-road vehicle in my opinion. I'd rather take my Rancher XL up Mt. Chiliad.

Best off-road vehicles of the off-road class are the Vapid Sandking SWB, Canis Kalahari, and Canis Bohdi. Sanchez for racing if you can avoid getting run over.

You just can't drive.

I spend most of my time in my Sandking in the middle of nowhere. Just like real life. It's not going to climb EVERYTHING, rock faces are a particular problem since the tyres in gta seem to be made from plastic but, it's great at climbing dirt and it's still 100 times better at true off roading than any super car.

We must have very different ideas of offroading. The Bohdi is a p.o.s. from what I've done with it and the Kalahari has no clearance but i've never tried it.

To each their own.

Baller for looks, MM for off roading

Baller for looks? i don't think so myself and i own a few Baller Sports. they're ugly ducklings that are fat little pigs, but i still would rather have it than a MW Mesa, but that's my personal choice. the MW Mesa on the other hand looks kinda badass for an off roader, but from what i keep hearing it's top heavy and not so great as an all arounder. Baller is not the greatest off roader, but i like it for the challenge and it handles on road pretty good to boot.

To each their own.

The Bohdi has the highest top speed of its class, only beat by the Bifta which is hard to keep grounded. It's also the most durable vehicle in its class, the wheels being almost impossible to deform.

The Kalahari climbs like a mountain goat due to its light weight.

Climbing = Kalahari

Speed and durability = Bohdi

All-purpose off-roading = Sandking SWB

Rolling = Merryweather Mesa

Ya I don't race much and I've actually gotten pretty good at counteracting the rolling so that doesn't bother me either.

I will give the Kalahari a go though :)

The MW Mesa is great at climbing, even from a complete standstill. You would be surprised at some of the steep inclines it can get up and over. It is also great in deep water thanks to the ground clearance. The Sandking is the best offroader though because it can go over rocks without getting smashed to bits like every other vehicle in the game. MW Mesa is much better on steep inclines though.

You're all fckin retards arguing over OPPINIONS. I apologize to those who aren't bickering over what the 'best' off road vehicle is and simply stating their opinions rather than telling someone they are wrong for feeling the way they do. You guys are ok.

Here's how it really is (IN MY OPPINION).

Everyone thinks their own way. And everyone feels their own way about different vehicles. But as aznknight69 stated. There is a difference between an off road vehicle (designed for rough terrain) and taking a vehicle off road.

Fact: Super cars, sports cars and most other cars (sedans, coupes, etc.) are not designed for off road use. Most sit low to the ground and have difficulties climbing over obstacles without damaging the vehicle.

Opinion: Some cars might be fun to drive in the dirt and ramp mountains with but if I were to mod a car for offroading, it would probably be the futo made to look like a rally car and have dirt wheels. But it wouldn't get me places I take my mesa and I would mostly stick to dirt roads and trails. Forget about rock crawling.

Fact: The sandking has the highest ground clearance.

Opinion: The sandking isn't all that topheavy or prone to rolling but its a bit sluggish

Opinion: The MW mesa is very topheavy and prone to rolling over. Lowering it might help...but who lowers an offroad vehicle? Really?? It also seems to be pretty quick and looks bad ass.

Fact: I have read ppls posts saying the MW mesa isn't 4wd...well the only way I know to tell is by getting at least one of the front wheels off the ground and seeing if it spins. I was crawling up a rocky hillside last night and my front drivers side and rear passenger side tires were in the air and my brush guard was against a boulder keeping my from moving forward. When I hit the gas, all four wheels were spinning even though I wasn't going anywhere. Also, I found a very steep hill that I didn't think a sandking would climb without a running start. I climbed it halfway, stopped, and slowly climbed the hill without difficulty.

Opinion: The MW mesa is 4wd.

Opinion: The rebel is also a sweet off roader. The clean version looks nice while the rusty one has some nice Baja/trophy truck mods. Too bad its rusty as all hell!

Opinion: Any SUV has good potential of being a good offroader. I haven't personally tested any tho.

Bottom line: Its all about personal preference and what you intend on doing with the vehicle. You gotta think about the trade offs as well. Ground clearance and wheel base width versus high center of gravity and speed. And of course visual stimulation. I personally have 2 offroaders. My MW mesa and my Sanchez. I wouldn't race with my mesa. I would roll it at every turn or get smoked in them. But I wouldn't want to race my Sanchez alongside 4 wheeled vehicles (except the quad). Too easy to get rammed and crash. My offrosders are for free roam fun mainly.

Hope this helps the decision making process more than "entity is best off roader" or "sandking is better than anything cuz its bigger"

I've had both. Climbed with both. The sandking pulls inclines better. It will go up a grade that the mesa will not. That's just the way it is.

Thanks drGiggless I try not to 'correct' one's opinions with my own. I personally don't have hard evidence as to which vehicles have better acceleration, top speed, ground clearance, etc. Never lined them up and drag raced up a hill or anything (would be interesting to see results tho). So unless there are videos of this and other side by side comparisons, all this is just a bunch of oppinions

couldn't have said it better myself. this is why even if something else is better it's not always the right choice for someone IMO. like the Baller Sport, i don't think it's the best or the greatest (mainly because i haven't driven all of them yet), but since it fits the way i drive and gives me basicly what i want, it's the one for me. someone in another thread thinks it feels like they're driving on ice with it, i think it feels that way to them because their driving style is different than mine.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact. It is top heavy and lowering it does make it more stable. The way the designers have made this car is for road use, lowered to hell with some big chrome wheels on it. I mean, the default radio station is West coast classics iirc. It's a cruising around, ''look at my ride'' car.

Fact: I have read ppls posts saying the MW mesa isn't 4wd...well the only way I know to tell is by getting at least one of the front wheels off the ground and seeing if it spins. I'll comment on this in a sec...

Also, I found a very steep hill that I didn't think a sandking would climb without a running start.

That is your opinion

Opinion: The MW mesa is 4wd.

So you say you got all the wheels spinning when giving it gas and then in this section it's only someone's opinion that it's 4wd??? WUT???

It either is or isn't 4wd, this game does not support duel drive systems in cars.
