[WIP|SCR|IV] Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser

This is a fine machine, best engine details i ever see , like monster875' fairlady Z 70

although i dont really understand why bother modeling any complex shapes emmbossed on the engine block , when a bump texture or even regualer texture can make it look as good as 3d one.

anyway i really like your choice of vehicle and hope to see a lifted safari version or baja truck if they ever took part in any rally , i dont got much knowledge on this one though. Btw the engine is Carb or TBI fuel injection?

@iz inc thanks : ) i thought about doing a bump map, but not worth removing them because i can only reduced a few hundered triangles, Modeling them is a bit easier for me than doing complex normap maps. I am trying to make the wtd file size smaller so my bump map is limited to badges and tires.

 

My plan is fairly modest, just an open top and have to model half doors and canvass top with roll bars. I though about adding a winch later. I may have to model oem wheels.

I made some optimization, shaved 2000 polygon, another bigger big task needs to be done.....LOD1 models ( a must, a must, a must) I leave other projects in the back burner so I can get this one done asap.

Lol just bumping the thread so it doesnt get burried. Yes it looks way cooler with the top gone. Yes its nearly done, just the only big job is getting the LOD1 finished (40 percent done) in addition open top stuff like half doors and canvass top.

@compeast i forgot, i still have to finish doing the uv maps the body, once they are done i can prep it for in game (even the lod is not done yet)

 

@bundi maybe later, i dan easily add more later.

 

@roadrunner Maya, i took some courses long time ago, they are not cheap.

Im modeling the lod and then i will deal with the lights and then tweak materials

@roadrunner It get burried fast i...at that time, the axle was not placed on the dummies yet.

 

@nik as soon i get the lod done and im closer for a release.

Downloaded the beta, and this is become one of my favorite mods in GTA IV.

 

I took the sample with 'Indonesian Kidnapper Red' color.

Although it looks good, I still see some bugs (well, it's a beta):

  • Vehicle camera set too close to the car, making it impossible to see on near camera view
  • Side windows have some diagonal lines in it, making it feels "plastic"

  • Left rear door intersect with spare tire, perhaps you can increase the span on the spare tire opening or narrowing the span of the rear door

Overall, it's great! But still need some finishing touches to make it better.

First impressions ... This model is awesome! No, really. And optics simply divine.

The first defects which are visible, it is strong color artifacts (dds compression) on a profile of tires. Well and, probably, it is necessary to edit a collision of wheels or dummy - a back wheel on the driver's party smaller than the others.

@kuznetsof thanks for heads up, the door windows may need to re modeled to a simple plane. The tire indeed to grainy, the bump map for the thread for some reason the other half is inverted, cant figure it out. The rear wheel is a mystery ill see if i can fix them. I dont know how to relocate the vehicle camera, what dummy is it? I can give you an unlock dff so you can evaluate better.

 

@compeast must be the enb mod.
