Is this '66 Fairlane? I think you've made some mistakes in geometry.

Thanks for pointing it out, it will save me some time. Yes its a 66, and it still in preliminary state, so got plenty of mistakes. the coke bottle part still had insufficient geometry to define the bulge, the front bumper side is incomplete. The front grille is still messed up and i just start working on the bars.

I had a sinking feeling lately, i snarled most of the saturday doing the steering wheel dashboard and rear tail light for the FJ40.

Ill spent some time on the fairlane again, more likely a 500, havent decided on the engine ( maybe i might use a 390 from my 68 mustang as a base model.

I feel the same way while making model kits. Sometimes I'm halfway through, say, a warehouse when I see a mobile home. I'm like "Holy sh*t, I gotta do the mobile home before I do the trailer park!" and nothing gets done. Either that or if you're gonna try tackling two cars at once, you could try mixing it up to keep yourself interested on both ends, like if you get bored working on a car, you could work on a truck or something.

Multitasking, amigo. It's great fun when you master the skill.

@universe, 2 big ones and bunch of little ones (unfortunately the little ones gets trampled by godzilla and king kong all the time) :D While modeling, I am also watching a movie, it helps with my mood, but slows my modeling pace. I hardly made any progress with the Fairlane because i spent most of the time making correction everywhere.

Looking fantastic so far, really nice and smooth models you got there. Stick to those references and and we'll have 2 more awesome additions to GTA. :D

@schaefft, i havent heard from you from a while, these cars are uphill battle, im putting more polygons than ever before. Not easy job for me, have to keep up with these game rips models conversion.

No worries, I'm still around, just got a bit lazy, playing too much GTA Online and doing work, real cars related stuff. :D

And to be honest, I never had the impression that your cars didn't have enough detail. In fact your Caprice and other vehicle are some of the very best you can download for any GTA game (right next to Burners and Mindf*cks models), I love the texturing work that is completely missing on other models most of the time. And since GTA IV's engine was never intended to handle 100k+ model, which don't exactly make much sense considering the gameplay anyways, I will always prefer properly optimized stuff over a straight conversion from Forza. Maybe that's just the vehicle artist inside me. :p

Indeed, your cars have a pretty good detail amount yet a small file size, which is a quality bonus.

@schaefft, Thanks, gta online must be fun, I had a blast with SAMP, until an update broke it. When i fell of the gtaforums radar, I got hook with some games (notably Fallout New Vegas) RPG type games makes me spend a lot of time. the good thing about doing lower poly cars is faster turn around time (high detail cars demand more time modeling and research, just like my FJ40) When my monaro broke the 80K barrier, im motivated to make my wtd size smaller, some creative uv mapping (i used to do when im making vice city cars) I was thrilled my wtd size 640kb. Doing the LOD1 from scratch rather than downsizing a high poly ones have advantage with better optimization (I felt the same amount of work as downsizing).

@roadrunner, My Monaro have 2x more polygon than my 89 caprice, but roughly the same total file size.Using as many gta textures as possible and some creative uv mapping on less significant areas.

Looks neat, doesn't the nstockade have rear seat dummies set sidewards, as the Toyota?

@roadrunner, Thanks for the tip, I have no idea nstockade have seating like that...because I never drove it. I might have to do 2 version, one is hardtop and softop (roof ass extra)

I got a few pics of the instrument panel of a 1984 HJ. I guess its more or less the same as in that one. I can send them to you for reference, textures or whatever if you want.

Not sure if you knew this but just in case:

You're just gonna have to rotate the dummies towards the right direction 90 degrees to make the passengers sit sidewards.

Sweet, are you still going ahead with the roof as an extra (convertible)?

Modify --> Rotate.

If you've selected that what you want to rotate, SELECT MODE on (make sure it's only the object you want to rotate), then press SHIFT and press Left Mouse Button. By doing that you'll get a little scheme that will make your rotation more accurate by filling in the degrees of rotation.

@roadrunner 2 version, first one is permanent hardtop with full doors and the second one roof as extra with no window framed doors (maybe a soft top)

@sompeast, Thanks, ill try that once im starting to do the conversion..

@compeast im usually prefer classic american cars, but i like some of classic japanese or european cars. I was dettered because forza made some of my favorite cars, but i seen forza 4 1965 mustang....it sucks it looks like a cheap scale model almost as bad as my vice city mustang (at least mine is low poly) they cant get the front end correctly..
