without even racing it dude, theres waaaay too many checkpoints..

 

you have areas where theres 6 or 7, or even 15 checkpoints on a straight section fo road, theres really no need for so many, you only need to place your checkpoints on straights by line of sight, so as long as you can see the next checkpoint from the current one theres no need to put additional checkpoints in there.

 

somehow in a 1.85 mile race youve managed to squeeze inb 50 checkpoints.

 

checkpoints 15-21 are unnecessary.

 

checkpoints 27,30, 31 and 34 are unnecessary

 

checkpoint 36-42 are completely unnecessary

 

checkpoint 45-48 are unnecessary.

 

remove all of those and you might have a reasonable race, but hearing the checkpoint noise every second and a half would be well annoying.

Ok finally made it playable/enjoyable for people. here is the link to the new and improved version of my first ever created race. please let me know if you like it or if I need to tweak some stuff or what, hopefully people will try this out!

i cant speak for cuz (and im sure he will speak for himself), but i imagine its becasue of having 6 or 7 checkpoints in a straight line... if your driving down a straight road, you dont need multiple checkpoints to tell you to keep going forward, just one at the start and one at the end, depending on line of sight. Your next checkpoint should always be visible from the one before it, but too many checkpoints are annoying and unnecessary

I can't actually drive it because i'm on PS3, so feel free to ignore everything i say because i'm judging purely from the map.

 

It looks a lot better than the original rendition, that was pretty ridiculous to look at.

 

However, the area containing checkpoints 8,9, and 10 could probably be condensed to two checkpoints quite easily.

 

Apart from that, the only suggestion i have would be to maybe consider making the track loop around the golf course and back to the start line, it looks short for a point-to-point.

 

Can't comment on what it's like to drive, or how much fun the route is. But you've definitely improved it significantly from the original.

yeah…I got it over 2 miles…but I can try to add onto it. I wanted to do a ptp so it would end up at the golf course and not go back to the eclipse towers. I think I definitely made it better, but if anyone has an xbox and is willing to test it out and give feedback that would be awesome. I can try to make a longer route without making it entirely stupid...

Like Mo, I'm PS3 so I can't test it for you, which is a shame because you're genuine after all, I insulted you a little bit and I'd like to help out by way of recompense. Looking at the map tho and I will just echo what's already been said, CPs are much more reasonable and look pretty well placed for the most part but it is still a bit short.

I do see you've got some props round the jump off Rockford Plaza, personally I'm not sure they're necessary but then I use that run a lot to ditch the cops. With the tyre line, you want to watch you don't place it too tight to the curve, if people underbrake and overshoot, they tend to get stuck on em and that can be very frustrating. As long as they're clear enough on the approach and you leave enough room for people to go a bit wide on the corner, they should be alright.

Best feedback you can get is from running it with people who have no idea of the course, sitting back and watching where they struggle. If you can't keep up then your track works.

one thing you could do is divert the route between eclipse and the golf course, as i understand theres a theme to the race so your start point and end points should stay where they are...

 

for testing why not pop into the approved custom content thread for xbox, theres judge that will run and rate your track and give constructive "driven" feedback, as opposed to mine and cuz "map view" feedback..

 

irt definitely looks much cleaner now though,

well so far everyone has given it a thumbs up, except for one person who couldn't make the sharp turns…so I think I made a pretty good race. especially since I've never attempted to make one before :D
