What's wrong with "Landing Gear"

Is it too long? not enough RP, cash... what? I've tried to host it a few times and can never seem to get to 4 players to start it.

I understand everyone's grinding RR and Coveted but doesn't anybody just want to have a good time for a few minutes.

and why can't I play it solo? or at least 2 players, don't know if I'd want to steal a car and drive all the way back to SS to get another plane, but I might.

I never have a hard time having fun. Key tp fun is play with friends, on any MP game.

Oh I can think of a few reasons.

1) A few Snipers. There is one on the Control Tower and I think two others. You really want to get those before getting the Rest.

2) Enemy Helicopters. Soon as one player gets in one of the Planes you got Buzzards coming in from Vinewood and I think one coming from Paleto Bay.

3) Landing the Planes at the Dock: 3 times I've played this Mission. I seem to of been the only one who could land without F-ing up the plane. I don't know why but they get the impression you HAVE to land the plane while flying under those blue container hoist......Okay I can but c'on its like people I've played with never heard of Taxing.

The one good thing I can say about this Mission is you don't need all the planes intact.

BTW: I thought it payed 17K?

Mainly this. Unless I see about 90+ in this mission, I leave. It's not a hard mission and can easily be done with 4 capable people quick fast (other than the flight), but for some reason landing a plane on the road next to the boat is the GTA equivalent of brain surgery. Now, I've been flying planes and choppers like a maniac since they were availble on GTA so I fancy myself a better pilot than my current skill level shows, so landing in tough situations is a lot easier for me than others....however you have a small agile plane that you have an entire street to land on...no excuse to crash.

The sniper on the Tower is a bad MF, I come out of the lobby with the heavy sniper and always take him down first. But really landing? Takes some practice but not that hard.

Just wish you could play solo or with 2 players. You can out maneuver the Buzzards and land without air cover.

I'm seriously not trying to toot my own horn here but I did clutch this mission before. I can't remember the actual Limit of how many players can be in the mission but we did. I stood back, trying to take the snipers. Everyone else went in guns blazing- They didn't make it.

I wanted to clear these NPC's out so I called for my tank and went and got it. On the way there, most of the people in the group were messaging me asking. "Where you going?"

I got the tank, went back. Killed them all. Got in a plane to Trigger the Buzzards- Got out, got back in tank (Probably should of just went with the Buzzard but kinda love to kill Choppers with Tank Rounds.) So with everything clear. I moved that truck out of the way and spent the next 30 Minutes Taking a Plane, fly to docks, drive back and grab another one.

If that ever happens again, I'm just taking one and destroy the others.

Not to mention the explosions in close proximity to all the planes and buzzards. There's one sniper on the tower and probably 15 -20 other guys on the ground. Min players is 4 so it only takes 4 or 5 kills a player to clear the area. Maybe a minute,

Havn't found a mission yet that needed a tank.

Yeah, but it spawned out by the construction site, so I figured why not. But yeah there isn't any real use for the tank in missions.

You don't need to worry about that now, they did something to certain Mission. In Death from Above, you don't need to take the Picture. Kill and Run.

they did that with alot of those type of missions . for example in water under the vinard , you dont have to take a pic of the dead judge anymore

When I play this mission with others I usually grab my buzzard and kill all/most of the guys at the airstrip while my crew takes the planes, then I kill the enemy buzzards. Landing the planes is pretty easy if the enemy buzzards are dead and you're good with aircraft.

If you're on PS3 I can help out when I'm on.

Hack and Dash as well, you don't need both cars not on solo.

Is your gamer tag " Travoltaxxx "? Finally got a session going and a troll grabs the Buzzard and blows up the white truck and first plane. He then proceeded to colide and crash the next plane taking off and finally crashes a truck into the tail of the last plane trying to take off! 2 days trying to get enough to play that mission and it gets trolled!!

There is Zero need to use a Buzzard (or any explosive) on the ground in that mission, its a min of 4 players so each have to kill 4 or 5. Should take about 30 seconds

I would love to do a Video on this Mission. It's not that hard to do. As long as you know there are Snipers around the Hangar and that Helicopters appear once one of the players gets into a Plane you pretty much can come up with a good plan to deal with them.

I say-

1) Eliminate all the Guards around the Airfield.

2) 1 person get in Plane but gets right back out.

3) Take Buzzards to take out the 3 in-coming Buzzards (I forget but there are 2 Buzzards at the Hangar, right?)

4) Everyone get back to Air Field, Move Truck and Take the Plane to Dock

Most the times I play this Mission I say this all the time. If they don't feel they Can Land it at the Docks to either take the plane to the Airport or Land into the Run-Off Channel so me or anyone else can go get it after landing out planes. Still no one listens. I'm pretty sure you do get a high payout based on how many planes make it to the Dock.

No, my gamer tag is cswood413 because just "cswood" was taken. Yeah, you have to be careful not to blow up that truck (which is why I usually let my crew take care of the guys around it and move it).

It's the same problem with Los Santos Connection or Base Invaders, I've flown the buzzard in those missions long enough to know not to shoot at enemies near the coke/cargobob because I've accidentally failed the mission that way before.

Got an invite today, and was surprised to find there were enough people already there to launch it. One of them left while I was delivering the first plane, but for some reason it let the mission continue, even though it was below the minimum number of players. I landed the Velum perfectly through the cranes, and since there were more planes sitting back at the airfield, I called a Merryweather chopper, and did it all over again with a Mammatus. Love this mission. One thing I don't remember from last time was a constant influx of civilians parking their vehicles in and around the hangar, which made it an absolute pig to get the planes out...is this a recent addition?

Haven't found a mission yet that needed a tank.

Death from Above is one, if you don't use the Buzzard anyway.

lol A tank for Death from Above? It's a walk in the park for any standard Armored Kuruma on solo. Same thing for most any mission...A Titan of a Job, The Los Santos Connection, etc. In fact, I prefer to do most missions solo just so I can take the time to pick up the cash, and try new ways of taking on the NPCs.

The only one that might need a tank (depending on your method of operation) is "Dish the Dirt". Never underestimate the damage those snipers can do if you don't somehow nail them quickly; and they're pretty good at taking cover.

Oh yeah; I had given up on every playing "Crystal Clear Out" again, until a guy in our team drove a tank in. :) Made it much more enjoyable, and we finished the mission.

You only need to land one plane. You can destroy the rest as long as you land one.

The problem with this mission is that it is all too easy to get morons flying the planes, who either get shot down by the Buzzards or crash on landing, which will invalidate all the effort that led up to that point. The other frequent outcome is that almost everyone rushes in and dies to the mass firepower of the mercs, leaving one or two people to finish the mission alone. My strategy is to use a Pegasus vehicle to clear everything, which works fine for the second situation but is still susceptible to idiots crashing on landing.

I personally often avoid this mission because I don't always have the patience to deal with either of the above scenarios, and this is a mission that is more risk-prone and dependent of random player skill than most.

^^ It also suffers from being lesser known/played; similar fails can happen in for example, "The Los Santos Connection"; if no-one knows to blow the plane up at the end of the runway ahead of time to avoid letting it get away toward the end.

But back to "Landing Gear"--I'm a fairly decent pilot (not great--much better w/Buzzard lol), but admittedly landing even a small, maneuverable plane in that area is much trickier than landing the massive Titan on the big runway in "A Titan of a Job."

Then just play with skilled players that you know?
