I have fended off the urge to write a topic like this, it's not the first, and I expect nothing other than "gtfo then" responses, but I'm going to vent anyway, deal with it.

I've spent the last two weeks joining random jobs, 90% of which have been RR. There is a huge element of diminishing returns when it comes to the level of enjoyment received on completing the same mission for the 50th time.

I feel like I have spent the last 6 months waiting for heists, I know they are coming, and it will likely be sooner rather than later, but how is there still a community in GTAO? They must have lost 80% of the numbers they had on launch day, now this could be blamed on bugs, glitches, hackers, shark cards, rabble rabble, but the bottom line is the game has a serious shelf life problem. Instead of dealing with this fundamental issue R* have decided to withhold one of the main (in my opinion THE main) features of the game in a hope to keep the few remaining hardcore (possibly naïve) fans hanging on in the hope of a turn around.

I know the classic responses are going to be "it is what you make it"... "quit then"... etc.

But i'd really like to know how people are still firing up the game day after day with no real goals to achieve or aims other than to run around free roam or repeat the same missions, there is only so much to be done, with no progression or feeling of advancement. Seriously, please let me know the secret that seems to be eluding me, I'd love to keep playing, because ultimately it's a brilliant game, but I can't find a reason to play it.

GTA IV had no heists or even half of what GTA V has but I've played it since 2008 up until a week before GTA V came out. So GTA V comes out, "promising" heists and then all of a sudden all games that don't have heists in it suck? There's more than missions. It's hard to believe that when the game forces missions down your throat with constant texts of invites for missions or Ron calling for help. It's annoying, yes, but manage to ignore those while doing random stuff with your friends is pretty fun.

I just wish there was a "don't call me for f*cking missions" button for the cellphone. Of course, you can take what I said and ignore it but you're missing out on some good stuff.

I play with a friend. Or I join random missions. Or go after bounties just to see if I am skilled enough to kill the person. Or get a npc bounty and see how long I can survive for by running away.

I didn't even remotely answer my own question, how can aimlessly repeating the same thing day in day out be fun.

I have tried Crews... can't see what the attraction is, as there is no point to a crew until you can do heists.

As for my friends, they are either less patient or more intelligent than me, they stopped playing after a month or two when they quickly realised the situation I now find myself in was inevitable.

I am in the same kinda boat, my nephews have quit due to it getting boring to them at the start we all had fun but yea gets a bit tedious. Anyways my only fun is just trying out diff paint combos and duping cars out. Which people will now start throwing petty and childish insults at me.

But if you can't find anything that actually keeps you interested you can either turn the game on and just look at your garage twiddling your thumbs. Or play a different game and come back down the track when they might add heists or some other things that will gain your interest again.

I play GTA for missions, not to run around free roam, pvp doesn't do it for me. If I wanted to drive around town and meet up with friends I'd do that in the real world, the gameplay and graphics are much better

i agree to an extent op, the game needs something that adds a new element to actual gameplay, instead of just new cars and weapons.

but there is still fun to be had its just getting a bit boring

Instead of moaning as if GTA owe you something, you could make a topic to the link above asking for people to do fun missions with you. There's people that are into stealth and doing missions as realistic as possible. Not every GTA player is a freeroam nut but for the most part that's GTA's biggest selling point so don't expect some Tom Clancy sh*t.

slippery slope

I hear you. I haven't played for a couple of weeks now.

I was still running around in IV free mode the night before V launched and thought I'd be hooked on V for a long old time too. I just don't enjoy having to grind the same old missions just to mess about in free mode. I don't think this bullsh*t "more info on heists coming soon" helps either, but what can you do...

Sounds like you probably just need a break too

Rank 160, $6.6 million in the bank, own all the expensive stuff I want, hate Rooftop Rumble and Coveted.

What keeps me playing is partly force of habit and partly I am hoping for future DLC that has something awesome to work towards. I'll admit it is getting boring but hopefully one day, the fun and excitement will return to the levels they used to be at.

Your post is bollocks. The numbers aren't as high, but 80% down from launch day is bullsh*t. But yes, if you've had enough, play something else - it's a game, is it really such a big deal?

Not looking for different gameplay, just more content. I could do every mission again, try doing it with nothing but a broken bottle, bottom line is that it's the same sh*t, different toilet. I could build myself a box fortress and play castle in my living room, I didn't pay for a game in order to be left using my imagination to have a good time.

I know what you mean OP.

I've actually been resorting to sitting in my apartment, watching the TV, and calling muggers on random people for entertainment since doing Coveted 99 times just gets boring.

I actually got 3 muggers to go after one guy who kept dying during the first time I called a mugger. For some reason, every time he died, it spawned a completely new mugger, so when he finally stopped getting killed by the cops, he got gang raped by 3 muggers. Most fun I've had in a while.

I am fortunately old enough to have owned an Atari, and yes, at 6 years old the tedium of repetition didn't have the same effect it does now, game development has evolved way beyond that now, everything is in place with this game for it to be epic, and long lasting, but the developers simply don't have the nouse to make it what is deserves to be

Firstly I am not referring to any pie charts with this thread, this is purely guess work formed from my experiences of servers over loading to lobbies having 4-5 people.

Secondly, if you are a GTA fan, it's not just a game, it's GTA, and it deserves to be better

Ranking up is a goal. Granted, I have nothing more to unlock by rank, anymore, but I like to see the number climb.

At this point, my impression is that you have already decided (unknowingly or otherwise) that you are done playing GTA Online and nothing we suggest is going to convince you otherwise.

There's no shame in quitting or taking a break until some new content gives you a reason to play again.

That stuff is out of our reach. Some of us have more patience than others or actually enjoy what we do. Sure, some nights I say to myself that I could of had more fun going out in real life if I had known no one would come online but for the most part I keep myself busy. While I play GTA:O a lot, I go back to Singleplayer or even play other games. If you only play one game, you're bound to dislike it over time. For actual DLC, though, it sucks. Everyone on this forum was excited for the Business DLC but all I've enjoyed from it was the two weapons. I know R* are fooling us, trying to make us less hungry for heists with these little bites and heists will probably suck in some way but I like GTA. I like the details, the cars, the way things work, how people act, missions...you know, you could spice up the game by removing your hud and radar completely.

I do like your cool responses, though. My previous post was a bit aggressive as people like you are annoying to try and convince but you're keeping your cool. :)

You do the same things over and over each day OP, no wonder you get bored. I still enjoy the game and I've never done the same thing each day, for me each day is different. Open your mind up and yes you can find things to do. So youve done RR constantly, no doubt to rank up and get rich. For me my most boring time in gta o was when I was rich and had nothing to aim for when I had the modded money. Now I work for the money doing random races or deathmatches, the occasional mission. Also I will do some messing around in free roam, driving my car, going to the shops etc, end up bumping into randoms and then hanging with them.

I still play mostly missions with various friends, crews, and randoms. I enjoy helping new players learn the ropes in difficult missions.

I still play because I have monetary goals. 10 mil in the bank currently, but am still holding out for multiple properties and/or revenue generating businesses.

You're right though... I'm dying for some new missions.

Ok guys, thanks for the feedback, it appears I need to take a break until heists are out, hopefully it won't be too much longer. I do love everything about the game, but without new challenging content I have no drive to play. I understand people can appreciate the small things, and are happy to carry on, all the more power to you, guess I'm too old and bitter to make my own entertainment.

Just gotta hope R* get their act together asap.

You mean that isn't a prime feature of your GTA daily life in general? lol, some days I just sit in my apartment looking for people to send the mugger after. Finding someone AFK and sending the mugger after them and watching the mugger drive away with their car still makes me LMAO every time.

I still play it simply to mess a round. What people have forgotten is that GTA V was supposed to only be a stand alone, they made the effort to make and add GTA Online for free. I don't understand why people complain about lack of DLC etc.. I understand it's annoying waiting for these DLC's while Rockstar teases us but you clearly have to wait.

Surely you must have other games to play to pass the time anyway.

Find a good crew. Join it.

Opens up a world of possibilities.

There's a list of crews some where on this site, I went there recently and found a crew that sounded interesting. Sent them a request. Joined a couple days ago and already met a quite a few chill players i added, lots of people giving out money to the broke players. 4 sand kings going up chiliad wasn't so bad either

I play just about every day, and am nowhere near bored with it, of course I enjoy exploring the map and playing with friends... I grind missions to get the money to upgrade my cars, and then I go exploring a little more...
