NTAuthority
He probably wants to reimplement the networking code for no reason to end up making a shabby ripoff of MTA which will be worse than the native RAGE netcode in all ways including lacking AI in similar ways to existing IV 'custom multiplayer'. Spider-Vice 1 Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding! universetwisters
I never really liked the idea of multiplayer games. Sure, it's a good idea and all, but it gets old quick. How many people do you see who still play Call of Duty 3's multiplayer, or Bad Company 1's multiplayer? If you wanna make a mod, try single player stuff. Hell, maybe some new missions and a storyline for V, preferably one that didn't suck.
KraZ__
He probably wants to reimplement the networking code for no reason to end up making a shabby ripoff of MTA which will be worse than the native RAGE netcode in all ways including lacking AI in similar ways to existing IV 'custom multiplayer'. Well, you're kinda half-right. A shabby ripoff of MTA is exactly what I want to create. It will most likely be worse netcode than what RAGE supports. It will most likely also lack in AI. However I don't want negativity like this to destroy my motivation for wanting to create this modification to the game. I will work the best I can on solving all these issues and hopefully have a stable, reliant and a fun for all version released. I will try my best to create a modification which doesn't suck (to be direct). "GTA V: Multiplayer Mod" Are you intending to destroy multiplayer, because I honestly don't see any other reason for this "Mod" Well the mod would be like MTA:SA sure, and it wouldn't destory multiplayer at all. People who have this mod wouldn't play on the Rockstar official servers. The mod will allow people to go ahead and create their own servers and it will also allow them to create scripts to allow them to have their server run how they want. This will allow for people to play on servers using GTA:V but having the freedom of playing a game or gamemode which is completely different to the actual game itself. i.e you could create servers which allow players to get jobs, live a life in the game etc... I in no way wish to destroy the GTA community. Edited March 14, 2014 by KraZ__ D T and Cutter De Blanc

Aleph-Zero
I think you should look for programmers after the game has been released and if you already have something up on github i might commit.
Staten
Why not work on an IV MP mod instead? If you're wanting to learn to code, it'd be better to work on something that is already largely understood by modders, and you could start working straight away if you find a team. Deji
If you're serious about this, good luck to you. But many people want to do these kind of big things... some of them are utter geniuses and most won't have the patience to see it through, but I agree with: Why not work on an IV MP mod instead? If you're wanting to learn to code, it'd be better to work on something that is already largely understood by modders, and you could start working straight away if you find a team.V is RAGE too, so since IV is already out on PC, you'd be better off starting your basic code using IV as a base and then work on porting it when V comes out on PC. Better yet, wait a while longer for V to become better documented by modders (and try to contribute yourself to gain an understanding of it, BEFORE working on it). Basically, at first most of the code you'll write will obviously be applicable to any game whatsoever. It will take a LOT of work before you'll be able to get it running in-game (as you should already know if you're serious enough) so you might as well do most of the work beforehand. Once you have the basic elements in place, it will be easier for others, even the less experienced modders and programmers, to help you once you host it on something like GitHub. Even though GTA Online is great enough, choice is cool and some alternate styles of multiplayer might be well-received. Good luck!

I've been programming for a few years now. I've just never attempted anything on this scale. My project will definitely be open source so that others can commit too. I do hope that it becomes a community based project and I hope that other developers will contribute.
Krysalis
I suggest actually making multiplayer of SA-MP style. MTA sucks cock, only used to make maps and stuff for SA-MP. Ignore what others say btw. Btw, try finding someone on SA-MP forums who can help you out. Edited July 10, 2014 by Krysalis
