Why do people shoot and ram my tank?

I always go after a tank when I see one. I'll either call up my own tank or steal a jet. Sometimes if I get trapped on a building I'll call the mugger, watch them get ripped out of their tank, shoot them as they flop around on the ground after the mugger, well, mugs them, then I steal their tank and we reverse roles, except I was never spawn killed and he is dying constantly.
