Exactly. It's really shown what was intended for online play in my opinion.

I make my own story; it is basically the way R* set it up than you are a low rent hood and you climb your way up to a serious player who lives the high life, is rich, fully stocked and a top tier gun for hire.

That is why you start going missions for Gerald and Simon (low scrubs) before you work for real players (Lester, Madrozo, the government agent who gives u the heist); that's the framework everything else (like how your guy looks, feels, acts, how their days begin and end) is all up to you. My avatar suffers from fuege states in which he will go and blank out before going on a murdering sprees and snap out of it at random).
