I was under the impression sale and cultivation were technically illegal, but ignored, hence the "coffee shops" etc... possession is legal but the cops can confiscate if they want. When I was in Holland last, I noticed that there were in fact homeless... many many homeless in fact, with track marks and gaunt faces.

 

I'm actually from the good ol' US of A, Colorado specifically, where our weed is 100% legal in all stances... we also still have a large homeless problem... but ours are mostly mentally ill, so all the more dangerous.

I'm actually from the good ol' US of A, Colorado specifically, where our weed is 100% legal in all stances... we also still have a large homeless problem... but ours are mostly mentally ill, so all the more dangerous.

 

 

Yeah, cultivation for commercial purposes is illegal. The whole thing is utterly confusing but it's set up so that if you want to smoke weed you can do so with no problems. It's a retarded system because the coffeeshops are allowed to sell weed, but not to buy it. The coffeeshops buying the weed is also ignored though. I think the cops can only confiscate your weed under some circumstances, like if you're smoking in an area where it's not allowed.

 

Your system in Colorado is much better. Hopefully politicians here will take notice. The end result for the consumer is the same though, except here you can buy at 18. The worst thing about it is that cultivation is pushed underground. Just last month, an apartment across the street from me burned out because somebody was growing weed in there and there was an electrical problem. Then the politicians say they're going after the growers because it's dangerous, while it would be much safer if they just allowed proper businesses to grow it and subject them to safety inspections.

 

As for the homeless guys, you probably just looked in the wrong area. Statistically we have very low homelessness and drug addiction.

Haha you guys do give off that impression but I'm sure it's not as bad as the rest of the world thinks. One thing I wanted to say but I forgot, it's very inspiring how Colorado and Washington state (I think?) decided they would basically give your federal government the finger on the whole weed thing. I'm a big fan of localized government because 1 government can never effectively govern over 300 million people, and things like the war on terror and the war on drugs could have never been pulled off by individual states to the same devastating effect. It's the same reason I despise the EU. Unfortunately the EU only seems to be growing in power.
