So I figured I'd try out the cheat codes... wtf?

So after completing the (god awful) story mode twice and exploring the whole bland map and getting absolutely sick of the overpowered cops and horrible wanted system, I thought "hey, I'm sure this game has cheats just like all the other GTAs! Let's try em out!" Because, you know, I felt like having fun and going on a good ole fashioned rampage.

 

Oh... how mistaken I was.

 

I remember the cheat codes very well in Grand Theft Auto 4 & I thought that that was an awesome idea how they were implemented: automatically available from the phone at a simple push of a button, after entering the number once. So naturally I assumed the same would apply to this "game". No. They took a major step backwards. Not just a step, they took a whole f*cking cross country drive backwards. Now we are back to entering an extremely complicated code on the controller, EVERY TIME we wish to use the cheat. Forget trying to do it while driving. Most of them include the "Y" button, which translates to jump out and die.

 

Now, let's talk about the cheats themselves. Invincibility, awesome. Glad its there. Even IV lacked that. Oh, but wait, it only lasts for FIVE f*ckING MINUTES. Completely worthless. What about the wanted cheats? One star at a time, each time requiring you to tap the D-pad like a moron. Again, a major pain in the ass.

 

Remember GTA III and that awesome riot cheat, where all the pedestrians would go batsh*t crazy and pretty much start a civil war? I was so disappointed not to see that in IV, and considering what a horribly bland and boring experience GTA V is, I honestly wasn't supprised it was not included.

 

So thats it. The cheats, which have been a trademark of the awesome fun rampages GTA has been known for, were crumpled up and sh*t on by R*, who in turn handed them to us and said "here... now piss off."

You completed a (supposedly) 50 hour story mode that you thought was "god awful"...twice?

 

Whenever I put a game in that I then think is sh*t, I take it out and play something I actually enjoy.

 

 

Then again, I guess I could focus and hone in on just how much I hate it, post a few bunch of* threads about how the game has not been catered to my tastes which is why YOU should hate it too, and sit around expecting something to change.

 

Like if you got milk out of your fridge that was expired and you sipped it, would you continue to sip it til it's done all the while telling everyone how f*cking horrible the milk is?

Or do you get a glass of juice?

I know what you mean. Storing them on the phone is so much better IMO and I have no idea why you can only remove one star at a time and the invincibility cheat is pointless.

In a mater of seconds I could apply full armor, increase or decrease my wanted level, repair my vehicle, and spawn a f*cking boat on the road (why not?) all while speeding away from the LCPD before I could enter a single one of these horrible 1990s style codes, which by the way, I can't f*cking remember so I have to look at a f*ckin screenshot on my RL cellphone.

I have to admit that IV's Cheat system was Great and it was retarded taking it out in V but,V's Cheat Codes are great and fun,I hope next-gen GTAs re-introduce IV's Cheat System.But hey in V you can spawn more than one thing.Lol maybe it was a Nostalgic 3D Era (SA) throwback

The only two annoyances I have with the cheats is that god mode has a (Y) so you can't use it to repair your vehicle like you could in IV, instead you just jump out . The other problem is the damn wanted down cheat. It's a bit much to have to do the code 4 or 5 times really fast back to back just to get rid of your wanted level. What the code should do is erase your wanted level completely so if you have 5 stars with one code it all goes away. Right now the game play is kill kill kill get some stars, do the cheat 2 or 3 times, rinse and repeat. I feel like all I do is spam that f*ckin code lol.

I agree with most of this but the invincibility cheat is far from pointless. I hated the idea of the timer on it at first but I've found its not so bad if you just keep an eye on it and it still leaves you a feeling of some danger because when it runs out with max stars it only takes a second for you to be dead, luckily we can enter it while the game is paused and it's a very easy cheat to memorize.

If you want to be god-all-mighty and completely invincible, quit f*cking around with these cheats and download a save editor and activate God Mode, you won't die from police only from extremely high falls out of planes/helicopters or off buildings, etc.

 

Or get good with the police and steal yourself a Police Riot, which is bulletproof minus two windows and the tires. But wait, there's more, take the Police Riot to the editor and give it bulletproof tires. Now you have an entire BP vehicle, minus two windows of which the cops bearly shoot you from.

The cheats were pretty bad this time around, I think it's one of the biggest areas where Rockstar screwed up gta5. The 3D GTAs had some really great and inventive cheats, and all of V s cheats are bland and bog standard. I cannot believe they left out some type of "peds riot" cheat. Is it really that difficult to code?

 

Also, I truly do believe that you would have to be drunk on whiskey to think an invincibility cheat should only last 5 minutes. In what world is that amusing or fun to deal with in any shape or form?

The invincibility cheat should have been at least 20-25 minutes long. Putting it in every 5 minutes is mind boggling.

I have no problems with button cheats. If anything it makes you better. I remember the GTA 3 days where i could put in a cheat in a good 4 seconds back when we had the "spawn rhino" cheat and they didn't cancel each other out. Just sit there inputing dozens of buttons and watching a mess of rhinos destroy everything on screen. Fun times!

Actually, I think in a way it's a new type of fandom, or at least one that's become more obvious these days. Instead of channeling their fanboyishness (I think that's the word?) into praising the game, they channel it into complaining about it. This is because to some people liking something is a sign of weakness (look at the people who call fans "sheeple" or accuse them of "sucking Rockstar's dick") but they are still obsessed with the game like a normal fan is, so they have to express it in dislike.

That time is pointless. Don't suck up to stupid R*. They put that timer in there to annoy us. They could have put the timer at 30 minutes, even 60 minutes. 5 minutes go by fast. Worst of all you can't even use the infinite health cheat during some missions. F*ck R* and there stupid choices. GTA V feels like it's made by a bunch of nerdy bisexual nerds who think they know "what's best for us". The phone cheats were such a blessing in gta iv. Now in V we've gone back to stupid buttons.

Because in IV if you try to do a health cheat during a shootout (for example) with the phone it would impossible because the phone will be take out if you get shot even once before you even get to press the cheat.
