GrandMaster Smith
I would really like to know what it is and the purpose of it. There is no proof that purpose is anything more than a human construct, so space, the Universe, or life itself doesn't need to have a purpose. I think the purpose of space is pretty dang obvious, it's to contain matter.
Killerdude
The vastness and absolute hugeness of Space blows my tiny little mind, It's scary knowing how impossibly massive our Universe is, and how insignificant we are.

uzi 9mm
I have always been fascinated by outer space, i'm adventurous at heart, and not knowing what is out there is also mysterious and also, it's a bit disappointing knowing we will all die without ever knowing. But what we do know so far is good enough as it is, considering people thought the earth was flat at one stage we've come to learn all sorts of mind-blowing facts. Size is one thing that amazes me too, just thinking of something like an ant or something, and then comparing that to a human, then comparing a human to something like sky-scraper. then comparing that to a mountain, and keep going, til we're comparing the Earth itself to the Sun, then comparing all the different suns till you get to the biggest one (VY Canis Majoris), I even think of things like if a star that big crashed into our Earth, how instantly our entire planet would sizzle into ash like how a small fragment of paper would burn in a naked flame. Because to us the Earth is gigantic, it's as big as we need it to big, from the bottom of the ocean to the edge of the atmosphere, let alone from the actual core, but compare it to the biggest start ever discovered, and we are nothing more than a speck of dust. Ok, so you can gather I am interested in space, I'm always seeing what gets newly discovered, and I'm waiting for the next major telescope to be launched to get more insight and photography of more deeper space images. At least we are even at a stage where human beings have reached the moon, think about it, just look at the moon at night, and imagine being in a time where cars or anything of that sort was even invented, let alone actually coming to the knowledge of what it even is, humans have managed to actually reach and land on this ball of light in the sky. So it's cool to be alive in 2014 because we have a fairly high knowledge of space compared to the times when we thought the Earth was flat. Anyway, at least appreciate the miracle that life is (whether you're religious or an atheist life is a miracle), and be happy to breathe in the air and drink fresh water, and look at the sky and the green of the forests, because life is a very beautiful thing. And as amazing as space is, most is empty, lifeless, minus 200 degree areas of nothingness which makes me happy to be where I am, the Earth is a wonderful place. high91 and SHXC
Nah Tso Gud
That's a great post uzi. I recently said extremely similar to the first sentence of your last paragraph to a few friends. I think it hit them pretty hard. Sometimes it's tough, but you can't forget to appreciate the (seemingly) simple things in everyday life. uzi 9mm

K^2
what does it expand intoIt doesn't expand into anything. Space-time isn't an embedded object. gnad.1992
I love this subject, and I like to think about it at night before sleep. I live in a small town and there isn't much noise here, my house is near a big farm so you can hear some sounds from long distances, that made me dream about lots of stuff related to the universe, especially when the skies are clear and I can see 100s of stars. Also, when I was young, I saw a shooting star and it was fascinating. Edited March 20, 2014 by gnad.1992 high91
Smith John
Anyone watching Live From Space: Lap Of The Planet? That was a f*cking awesome programme. I only caught the third and final part of the series on sunday night there, but what a humbling experience it was to watch. The segment of the single US astronaut onboard the ISS during 9/11, recording NYC after one of the towers had collapsed was movingly surreal. high91 1 bash the fash m8s
Mr. House
^^ Myron your a douche for posting that. Go and troll some other thread that will accept your trollship. Anyway before this topic decided it wants to die because of MYRON I will revive it. People here surely have a sound personal view rather than imbecile comments from a resident troll? I'm going to put this quote on a business card, replacing Myron with my real name.

First of all, we don't even know if our food is suitable for their bodies. Taco Bell might kill them which is totally understandable because it just about kills me every time I dine at their fine establishment I agree with you we do have some neat places to visit but they would be harassed by government agencies just because they are different from us. Captain Arthur
I think it's a bummer that we won't be alive when Andromeda galaxy collides with Earth after 6 billion years. Just imagine looking into the sky and seeing twice as many stars as there are now or imagine looking up to the sky and seeing this. It's incredible. But, sadly, it's even more of a bummer that almost no one would witness this awesome sight due to the heat death of the universe when the sun turns into a Red Giant and becomes the ultimate shredder of the universe. Just imagine, the deletion of every file or memory of you left. high91
