Not because they don't understand why you like and enjoy gaming at X age but because these people will stand in your way saying just about the same about anything you do unless it makes THEM happy. If we get right down to it age is just a number and we use it to mark how long we have been here. Why people attribute all kinds of other things to this number is beyond me. If your number is 18 then you can still get away with gaming once in a while and only suffer a -10 point coolness level drop. But if you're number is up in the 30's and 40's, man you're f*cked, you get -20 points for all your levels! However, if your number is in the 30's and you have a kid you are right on whereas if your number is 18 you are doing it all wrong. Or so it seems...
