A trick I learned to have Matte Paint with Pearlescent

So normally you cannot have matte paint with pearlescent. Here's a quick easy trick I learned and some pictures showing off what you can do.

First pick your choice of Matte Paint

Go back then click on Metallic

Go back and change your license plate

Go back to Respray the choose Pearlescent and pick your colour

And thats it, here's a few cars I did to show off different colour combos

The Cheetah is painted Matte Black with frost white pearl

The Jester is Matte black with sunrise orange pearl and Metallic Orange as a secondary

Another angle

The Elegy is Dark Blue Matte with some sort of red (sorry I forgot) and Midnight Blue Metallic as a secondary

Another angle.

Enjoy. Post a pic with colour combo info if you try this please

well, thats much less expensive than having to change your wheel type, then the colour, THEN going to put the pearlescent, then having to switch back and stuff

good find

At click on metallic do you actually have to choose and apply metallic paint, or how far do you go into that menu?

No you just go into it then back a couples times then click Plates and change it to whatever then back to respray and you will be able to choose a pearlescent. Just follow the steps

This little glitch has been in the game for quite a long time, but using license plates instead of wheels is a hell of a lot cheaper, so thanks for the info.

Tip - Changing to stock window tints is only $100 I believe, think plates are slightly more expensive.

Actually, you can just reselect custom plate, if it's already purchased it counts as a mod...$0.

Lol, I'm king of cheap!

However doing it this way you can also add pearl to classic paints which shine much more than metallic paint (compare any classic paint with the same color from metallic paints, it's much better) , save editor does not have the classic paint colors, so for classic paints with pearl this is the way to go. For mattes, metals, rim paints and the other paint types (except classic) save editor works on them but you will need to save the car you paint and bring it online from single player garage and store it, (if using save editor) - using the OPs method you can just drive any car from your online garage to LSC and do this in under a minute.

Using ops method to make gold, select bronze from 'classic' paints then add yellow or race yellow as the pearl. Z type is classic bronze with yellow pearl, mesa is classic bronze with race yellow pearl.

Also adding pearl to dark matte paints looks really good, thanks OP and thanks to slickpulla915 who 1st made me aware of this trick.

are you autistic?

No, i'm just super impressed by people who have been doing something mundane the longest out of everyone else in the world. Despite the thing being totally unprovable.

You are right. Thanks for the info. It's interesting to learn that so many people already know this trick and it makes me wonder how many other LSC tricks there are to change the appearance of your cars. Can anyone share ?

It works on any paint including metals and chrome but it doesn't show up very well on chrome.

Thanks. I will try this out with metals and post a pic

I'd say you can do it with a Save Editor like I did with my Alpha in singleplayer, but since I can't even store my Alpha from singleplayer, never mind.

Why can't you store it?

I can PM you the 100% success method if you'd like. All you need is a friend to hold the car for you.
