Ford Capri/Sabre Turbo

Hi everyone!

I am hopefully getting a Capri at the end of the month, and i have tried to emulate the car in GTA Online, as many people do with there real life cars. The closest car to a Capri was the Sabre Turbo and, a few minor exceptions, it looks very similar! I was just wondering what opinions were on the likeness of my GTAO car too the real life inspiration.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section and all feedback is welcomed!

Thanks,

Luke.

That's not even close but that's cool..

The Sabre is a early 70s Buick Gran Sport Oldsmobile Cutlass morph.

It's a bigger car than that. Is that Capri Australian?

I know its not based on a Capri, but its the most similar car to a Capri in game.

I'd say the Futo is pretty close

What?

The Sabre Turbo mimics the Chevelle SS and the Oldsmobile Cutlass

The nose is a dead ringer for a 70 Buick Gran Sport not a Chevelle. Im a big Chevelle Malibu fan.. :p I'd post a pic but its a pia on my phone..

Wheels need to not be black on the turbo. And don't black them on the Ford because.. Well because it's a Capri. I should reach through the computer and smack you just for thinking that.

Anyway, close as you can get at the moment! I drive a Dart so that means an Intruder or other Karin is my only option.

Also, props for being cool and buying that instead of a used Celica or something.

Cheers.

It is either that or a ragged hatchback, and i have always wanted a Capri!

The wheels are not black though, that's just the lighting in the photo, i left them "Alloy" in the LS Customs. Dont worry, il be leaving it standard and cruising about!

Plates are UK on the Capri pics above.

What motor is in the Capri??

Thats a Mk3 Capri, produced from about 1978 to 1987.

Mostly 4 pot engines - 1300cc, 1600cc, 2000cc there were some V6s in 2000cc, 2300cc, 2800cc and 3000cc. There was a limited edition that had a 2800cc turbo V6 too.

The Capri was same platform as the Mk5 Cortina, which was replaced by the Sierra (which was still more or less Mk5 Cortina).. do you remember the Merkur XR4Ti ? thats a Sierra.

Back to the Capri, it started life as the Consul Capri in the early 60s and looked like this:

In the late 60s the Consul name got dropped, known as the Mk1 Capri:

In the mid 70s the Mk2 came out:

Then the Mk3 as in the OP's pics.

I think the Mk1 was sold int he USA under the Mercury brand ? I know there are some Consul Capris out there.

Yes, the photo's are of a UK licensed 1.6 Mk3 Capri.

I have read somewhere that the Capri's went under Mercury in Yankland, and they didnt sell as well as in the UK due to a cult following over here!
